The Indomitable Median Strip!
He harnesses the powers of asphalt & hyper reflective paint to ensorcel his foes into endless traffic jams. Your brother's girlfriend's college roommate once heard of a hothead jock that tailgated Median during commute hours and he was never heard from again. If you listen really hard in the early morning hours before sunrise you can hear the faint sounds of a muscle car engine revving and something that sounds like Blink182. Across all of the years Median has never been subdued. The only proof of his existence are a few hazy (or lens flared) pictures and the widespread tales of frustration.

The Midknight Matador first appeared on the scene a couple of years ago. He didn't actually save anyone, but just appeared in photographs and footage. His primary goal in life seems to be fame, but he hasn't quite worked up the courage to actually fight anyone. His matador's cape used to be red, even, but that attracted the attention of villains on the battlefield, so he switched to a brown to avoid too much heat. It's unclear if he actually has any powers or skills or is just a superhero wannabe.
On the other hand, his suit does seem to be made of cutting edge materials and has never been seen with so much as a frayed thread. His catch phrase is currently unknown, as he always seems to be drowned out by a car horn blasting or a train going by, etc. A small (and I do mean small) fan site swears he's saved people, but none of it has made the news. Is he an actual hero, but with really bad luck when it comes to publicity, or is he just showing up after battles and getting in the way? The world may never know.
Once a thief down on his luck and trying to make ends meet for his daughter, he managed to steal a magic cloth that once belonged to the trickster god Loki, now he uses it's powers of illusion to perform perilous capers and daring feats as "The Midnight Man"
