Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

CoT on Steam

Not sure if this has been asked and/or answered already, but I was wondering whether City of Titans will be available on Steam when it releases?

Good question! I was just assuming so, but I don't know what hoops Steam makes a company jump through to get their game distributed. Just to pick an example based on nothing but wild conjecture, what if Steam had rules that interfered with MWM's plans to ensure we can continue to play if CoT has to shut down?

I, too, am curious whether MWM has looked into this and made any decisions.

I seem to remember some of the devs mentioning in an interview that they HAVE looked into Steam - I just can't remember what they said about it.

Valve will get a cut of the sales (which can be factored into the price upfront I imagine) but you can't deny that their service is a very effective distribution platform - one open to a LOT of players that might not have otherwise heard of City of Titans.

I vote yes, even at a marginal increase in price (20-33%, e.g., $30 -> $36-40)!

Maybe Greenlight is the way to go.

As a Kickstarter who wouldn't

As a Kickstarter who wouldn't have to pay that extra 20-33%, perhaps I shouldn't comment. OTOH, as someone who didn't get enough boxes as pledge rewards on the Kickstarter to equip all the friends I hope to convince to play... it sounds reasonable.

I have a love hate relationship with Steam. They always put the games I want on sale when I have no money!

I can explain why I would

I can explain why I would vote for seeing CoT available on Steam in two words: visibility.

Perhaps my perception is skewed because I'm not a big follower or video game news, but there are oodles of games that I've seen on Steam that I'd never heard of before.

I have a love hate relationship with them as well.

Love/Hate them for the same reasons you have listed. Also I have to keep on buying extra storage to keep the games installed.

Hate it because of Gabe Newell and his "crusade" against Windows 8, saying that the Windows Store was the first step towards a walled garden; and that it would prevent him from selling games. I felt that at the time, his worries and fears about Windows 8 were seriously blown out of proportion, and it would seriously change how the PC market would work (and for the worst concerning Windows)..

Cannot boycott Valve though, as that would mean that I am cutting off the avenues to my main source of entertainment... although I am using GOG and Humble Bundle more often for games now.

I still think Steam was responsible for shutting down CoX, solely based on the difference in the amount I spent on Steam when CoX was still around and how much I spend there nowadays. :-)

Well, thanks for all the responses. Hopefully, CoT will be available on Steam for us all :)
Hehe, I kind of also have a love/hate relationship with Steam for mostly the same reasons listed in the above posts.

I used to, but not anymore. Now if I see someone refer to a CoT demon or the CoT layer-cake map, I think I missed a Kickstarter update.

steam is great for america, but i hear from european friends that their internet is charged, or limited to data transfers, much like how american cellphones are charged.

so a hard disk would be what they would want. as a month's data limits could be reached with one downloaded game. even if they could do it anyway, they might be charged 60-140 dollars extra for the rest of their normal usage for going over their limits.

Where in Europe are your friends located? Cuz I'd say here in Scotland Steam would be the easiest, fastest, and cheapest method. Steam has been profiting well off me since CoX closed.

In general the internet over here in the EU is *far* more robust and better value for money than what the US pays. Yes, there are internet packages where they are "limited" to the amount that you can download, but they are generally the *very* basic tier of internet usage.

Most ISP's now tend to even do "unlimited" usage even on those tiers, where you are paying *approx* $40/month for 8 (or even 24) mbps download speed (and that is including taxes and other costs) with "unlimited"* usage.

And this is in the UK. If you go to some of the "poorer" countries, you can get *far faster* for *far less* money (I have heard that Poland and Romania have some seriously good "value for money" in just pure financial values, although they might be "expensive" when compared to average earnings. But seeing as the vast majority of my friends and family are in the EU (obviously) we tend to more complain when an ISP goes tits up for any reason rather than "no I cannot download that, I would go over my limit"... Hell, I don't think that any of us over here really pay attention any more to what we use.

And I can have unlimited mobile data on my phone for just £12/month....

* I say "unlimited" because their is a fair usage limit, but just so long as you are *judicious* as to when you use it, you can find that you will rarely get affected by it. Hell I am with Virgin for my cable/internet, and they operate a "throttled" section if you download too much during peak times... I have yet to really notice this in play, even when I have been downloading enough games to kick it off, so either I am not being affected by it, or the "decrease" in speed isn't really all that noticable.

I'm with Virgin also and have never noticed any throttling, but maybe I've never passed the threshold. How does one know when one has triggered this?

Yeah, when I compare downloading a game to the amount of time it would take to get dressed and drive to the nearest game shop -- factoring in cost of petrol and a phone call if I want to be sure they have a game before I waste my time -- nowadays Steam wins in all categories.

The only way you would seriously notice it is if you were paying attention to your download speeds for various applications, but even those might not be directly affected by the throttling. If I remember correctly, BBC iPlayer,ITV player, Netflix etc etc should not be majorly affected by this (even with full HD streams), but something like bittorrent will be throttled quite severely...

hmmm?

hmmm?

good. hopefully it is a issue of the past then. i believe they downloaded alot of movies, before streaming i guess.

now how to get this game into the E3 exhibit without working on any of the big name's devices (only computers) sigh. maybe if the game is very pretty, a video chip maker can make it their mascot for a year or two.......

Do you have a spare few hundred thousand for the E3 setup? It can get pretty expensive to have a stand there if I remember correctly.... even the comic-cons are not exactly "cheap" (although less expensive than E3 of course)

?

?

i think a mere 6 foot table was like 600 bucks at ny comiccon 2013.

but, you know......

even if the area you needed was huge, and you were more of a ride, or some form of entertainment, and were not selling anything, you would probably get a huge price break. can you put smiles on people's faces? will the people be in a better mood to buy from the other tables?

be strong!
