Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Ohh nice. Though it was just a matter of time before tech could make jet-engines small and strong enough to accomplish that.

This certainly isn't the

This certainly isn't the first example of a real life "jet pack" but it's one of the cooler ones I've seen, especially if the thing can actually manage to fly for more than a minute or so without clever video editing to make it look like it's flying longer than that. Most of these real life rocket/jet packs usually can't fly for more than about 30 seconds or so if they take off from the ground due to fuel/weight/thrust limitations.

Still I wouldn't mind having something that looks like this gadget in CoT as an alternative animation for a Fly power.

In addition to that I'm left wondering what its maximum altitude is. He seems to stay pretty low the entire time, which could simply be due to it being a demonstration or whatnot, but it's also possible it's just not capable of reaching altitudes which would allow for (relatively) safe parachute deployment (which has been another major hangup for jetpacks, safety).

Commenter on the YouTube page said 3000m ceiling and 145 Km/h top speed. But I think the parachute issue may be why this demonstration was over water; I'd expect that M. Zapata has experience swimming.

BTW, according to the Wikipedia Hoverboard page,

Quote:

On April 30, 2016, Guinness World Records recognized a new record of 2,252.4 m. The Flyboard Air was powered by jet engine propulsion, and its use allowed Franky Zapata, in Sausset-les-Pins, France to beat the previous record by nearly 2 km.[5] I'm pretty sure that was this video, or at last the same device and pilot.

Given the tech involved I figure you'd have to be pretty "death-defying" to go higher than say 50 meters using one of these things. Let's just say I doubt anyone could call any of this proven/safe/mainstream technology in the least.

To get to 2,000+ meters he obviously had to shoot straight up like a bottle rocket. Do we know if he actually managed that altitude and then return back to the ground under power or did he just shoot up and then pop a parachute when he ran out of fuel? Obviously it'd be a lot more impressive if no parachute was involved.

More of a real life Green

More of a real life Green Goblin sky board than a real life jet pack, so even better. Can you imagine slapping some bat-wings and a headpiece on that thing and flying around with a bag full of pumpkin bombs? NYA-ha-ha-ha!!!

Sorry if I wasn't clear; I'm pretty sure that the distance there was ground covered, not vertical height achieved. It's more obvious if you look at the previous paragraph on that Wikipedia page:

Quote:

The Guinness World Records recognizes the term hoverboard to include autonomously powered personal levitators. In May 2015, the Romania-born Canadian inventor Cătălin Alexandru Duru set a Guinness World Record by travelling a distance of 275.9 m (302 yd) at heights up to 5 m (16 ft) over a lake, on an autonomously powered hoverboard of his own design.

Yeah that makes more sense. You had started offf by mentioning the "3000m ceiling" in your post and without the other contextual paragraph you just quoted I thought you were continuing to talk about a new record for altitude rather than distance over ground. Still it'd be hard to imagine this thing having enough fuel to make it up to its claimed (theoretical?) 3000m ceiling and then safely returning back to the ground under power - that's actually a trick I'd like to see.

It would be pretty scary to go flying around on that thing, if you fall, game over!

It would be nice though to add to the collection of flying animation objects in CoT. Like the Flying Carpet from CoX. I enjoyed that but I am open to new options. I always liked the scene in X-Men where Magneto flew out of his plastic prison on a small sheet of iron.

Yeah I always liked that scene too. I figure if the CoT Devs could create all the proper "standing upright on a small object while flying" animations then substituting between a small jet device and a round metallic disc would be relatively trivial.

I'd bet the 3000M ceiling is

I'd bet the 3000M ceiling is a technical limit of the fly boards engine. IE at that altitude you'd have trouble getting enough air into the engine to keep it from stalling, or some such. Same thing with the speed. Clearly he only made it just past 2000M going horizontal. The video I saw put him no higher than 50-100ft off the ground. No idea if he only sought to beat the record or only had enough fuel to run that far (the fuel was in his back pack). I don't see this ever being more than a daredevils toy. There are not enough fail safes for it to ever be approved by the FAA. It's a single engine so if it dies at 50 feet there's no gliding down to the ground and it's so low that a parachute would only have time to cover your broken body on the ground. Lets say you do get up to the flight ceiling. You are a soft squishy object that doesn't reflect much radar FAA has problems with small hard to track objects flying around. /rant

Anyway, there is a Chinese company trying to make a flying uber of sorts. They use a 4 rotor system (I think 8 technically two on each boom) which is a hair bit safer and you can sit in a cabin (instead of standing over a jet engine) while it pilots you across the city. Which could be neat, or terrifying as you'd be flying blind through the smog of a Chinese city hoping at some point the thing lands safely on a pad somewhere and doesn't deliver you to the triad or run out of battery power. There's also a guy on youtube trying to make an exosuit, kinda like the power lifter in aliens I guess. And another guy trying to make an ironman style flying suit. He tried using solid rockets at first but found the firing timing to be too tricky and dangerous so now he's trying it with electric ducted fans which are high end hobby plane engines.

Personally I'm trying to figure out how my fish managed to fly out of my tank and land about 4ft away. I do not have a cat and the fish in question was only about 5cm long. I figure it had superjump. I just need to figure out the gene that let it do that and transplant it in to a person and ... er ... right lesson one about mad science, don't talk about mad science on the internet.
