Costume change animatons

I am hoping that CoT will multiple character slots , even though I am pretty sure it will , but my question is there going to be some kind of animation like CoX had? such as the potion drinking and ect.?

--Formerly Jorortis--

Note: Jorortis is still a character of mine and is still going to be in the super group, not Demirus, at least not yet...

I would hope so. As far as emotes and the like go, I can't really see the devs not giving us the same abilities we had in CoH. If not at launch then some time in the game's future. If anything I expect to get more and better emotes, poses, stances, costume changes, etc. Also costume change emotes are perfect items to put in the cash store.

As a historical note it

As a historical note it actually took CoH almost exactly 5 years after its launch to introduce the first costume change emotes. Having said that I would be amazed if CoT didn't start with at least a handful of them for its launch considering how much easier they should be able to do with UE4. After that I would expect many more to follow, especially in the cash shop like syntaxerror37 said.

We're going to need to be

We're going to need to be realistic about launch. Posi himself advised CoT NOT to go crazy on launch, but to create a solid foundation for years of additions and development.

Concentrate on making the game FUN and ENGAGING first, then you'll be able to add the features you've always wanted when they are ready for prime time, not because you need to get them out the door."

We need to make sure that people who check out the game launch really understand that they are getting in on the ground floor of something great, not seeing all that the game will be. Patience and perspicacity are not qualities that "gamers" are known for, so we have our work cut out for us.

By the way, I'm not saying we shouldn't expect any emotes at launch, I'm just following up on what Lothic said about CoH not having CC emotes till 5 years after launch.

I see Posi's point, It wouldn't be good to shove everything into CoT at launch, then 6 months or a year down the road the players are having a "well...what now?" moment

I don't think you should be allowed to change costumes in the open in front of others. Rather, be required to stand X units away from other players and NPC's to change. Such as in an alleyway, a restroom, a base, an elevator, or a building all alone.

Depends what your costume change consists of. Many folks used multiple slots and the change emotes to roleplay: e.g. werewolf transformation, powering up armour, turning from regular guy to being of flame, etc -- all of which were meant to be performed in public. I had a mad scientist with a series of costumes and emotes where he announced changing into a more powerful form before drinking a potion which usually backfired and simply turned him into a really tiny version of himself.

Depends on whether you've "solved" how to do it in a clever way or not.
For instance try telling Wonder Woman she does it wrong...

I think it's obvious why one of the first Costume Change Emotes CoH created was "/cce ccspin". ;)

Ironically (considering Folly's point about indecency) the only reason the Wonder Woman TV show came up with the "spinning costume change" trick was to avoid the "logistics" of having to figure out how Lynda Carter would change into her costume in public. As I recall Wonder Woman had never done that in the comic up until the TV show invented it.

Honestly, some of CoH's costume options are indecent, not that I really mind the option, just not my thing.

What about Superman? Suit to tights isn't indecent. ( I wonder if he went back for his suit afterward)

Compare and contrast with this quote I chanced upon:

It's interesting to see the contrasting mindsets between these two. My opinion on the subject is probably somewhere in-between.

I would strive to get as much as reasonably (humanly?) possible into a game before its launch because it is fairly important to make a good first impression. Having said that I realize that getting "absolutely everything" into a game by launch-time is ultimately impossible so I'd make managed allowances for future updates. The fact that some things "wouldn't make it by launch" doesn't make them any less important even if they take longer to produce correctly. The hope of course is that the playerbase would understand that and be willing to patiently wait for the future content.

Well, I'm personally not an Emmert fan and think Posi is why CoH made it. Emmert is obviously a genius in certain ways, but I think he has flaws that make him unable to create longevity for a game--he's shown this time and again. On the other hand, Posi stepped in and saved CoH when Jack was barreling the game straight over a cliff, and what CoH became famous for under Posi was spectacular development and innovation AFTER launch.

You're right, everything is always a balancing act to some extent. Enough at launch to keep the game alive long enough to have time for enough development to make up for what wasn't possible at launch and to fully flesh out and mature the game.
