Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Character customization

Hey, i'm gonna note right away that i have never played CoX itself but i did play CO and DCUO(other super-hero mmo's). Mostly because these 2 games had a really good character customization and decent graphics by that point. I'm gonna ignore DCUO for now, but CO seemed interesting enough in that aspect... Especially if you used 3rd party program called SuperCreator there...

Main things that i liked there were great variety of costume parts but i also heard that CoX had more options in some aspects, like auras and such, but also missed some things like stances/moods/greater variety glowing parts and more inhuman(bestial) character options.

I'm not sure that you guys in dev team of CoT ever played CO and saw what costume creator was capable of there with that mod i mentioned before. But in case you didn't, or never used that mod, you should definitely check it out. (link to mod is here btw http://www.speedyshare.com/5WQc8/supercreator-1.8.zip)

So, my point is that i know you will probably port everything CoX had in that aspect, but can you also take a look at CO's costume creator and borrow all the best ideas it has too?

I would be very grateful if you will specifically port horned lizard head btw, considering that i'm actually a backer of your project! I just really want to recreate my character and finally move on to a better game! :P
Oh and here are some characters reference pics, just to demonstrate what costume creator with a mod was capable of (my character is not showing costume creators FULL potential though)
1.1
1.2
1.3
1.4

And thanks for starting developing your mmo guys, lack of good alternatives was really depressing all these years! :)

Like all good, new MMOs, we

Like all good, new MMOs, we intend to... shall we say 'be inspired'... by the best of what's out there. No one wants to fall behind the curve, especially since as a 'spiritual successor' to CoH, we need to do at least as well as CoH did with their costume creator -- and the plan is to surpass it. Many in our Art Department were the rabid costumers of CoH who used the CC more than the game itself.

Kain, DCUO's costume creator

Kain, DCUO's costume creator is execrable (meaning very poor). You have very limited costume choices, even more limited in color choices, and you're limited to one shape -- humanoid. Champions Online's costume creator is much better... but still poor compared to the one in City of Heroes. Seriously, I know people -- and I mean I know these people, in real life -- who spent their first night or two with the game, just playing with the costume creator. I know people (again, IRL) who could spend hours designing an alternate costume for their hero.

Given how powerful a tool that segment of the program was and how much enjoyment we all got out of it, I'm thinking the dev team is going for the same kind of functionality. (It's really too bad we can't just put Icon into the game...)

While I loved certain aspects

While I loved certain aspects of the CO character creator, the actual costume options are very limited. One of the aspects I loved about it was the ability to customize the body to an almost outrageous degree, through the advanced sliders, but also through the stances of the character. Stances would be something I would love to see in CoT along with a greater control over the body shape. Another thing that I've always wanted was more asymmetry. Too often characters are just completely symmetrical and I would love some great asymmetrical options, i.e. a gauntlet on one arm but a just a bracer, or even nothing, on the other, mismatched shoulder/elbow/knee pads etc. I feel that CO also handled this really well and I think CoT could learn from it. As a supporter and future player those are things that I would really like to see.

The name of this character

The name of this character came from my CoX MM. With him I would put the single cyber arm body choice and metallic bone glove on the other hand. It was the only way I could figure to do what I wanted and as a result I missed out on a lot of costume options when designing costumes for him. I too would like to see something like a costume slot inventory. DCUO is currently doing something similar.

CoX's costume creator is

CoX's costume creator is trademarked property (as are many of the costumes). We can't just transfer it into CoT. NCSoft isn't going to give us the license no matter how much money they're offered.

We can use Icon, because that's using the program as intended. We can't steal it for our own use, though.,

The CoX creator was limited

The CoX creator was limited by the technology of the time. Character customization is what people want. Using today's technology they can do so much more than what CoX had to offer. Even if you loved the creator there is always room for improvement. One of my favorite aspects of CoX and CO is the character creation. I spent more time making costumes than playing the game. I sincerely hope they do more than a remake of CoX character creator.

A thing that would increase

A thing that would increase the love of CoX"s costume creator would be more color choices and colorable options. What I mean is, if you look at some of the costume pieces, one color did a majority of the work. Like the baron's jacket had the trim AND the undershirt colored the same. Now that just.. seemed silly IMO. Who'd wear something like that? Some parts had completely uncolorable areas such as the eyes or blackened pieces.. Open up those options and you pretty much have a CC that can dominate CO's any day. Add in stances and a few more advanced sliders than CoX had, and you've effectively got the best. Bar none.

Also, I prefer the texture-based costumes that CoX had over the model based that CO had. Let you do WAY more with less money and coding spent.

Revenge is motivation enough. At least it's honest...

While I agree that texture based costumes let you do more with less, I think CoT should strive for more. Have all the textures but have the options for model based costumes. I think a big part of the reason CO is so limited in costumes is because they tried to make everything it's own individual piece for greater versatility. But what happened is they were overworked and new costume pieces were few and far between. A happy medium of textures and models is what I would love to see.

I'd like to see customizable

I'd like to see customizable faces, rather than having premade faces like in CO or COX. Basicly making face it's own category with different hairstyles, eyes, noses, ears and mouths to choose from.

Aye! Remember, CoX's costumes were a mix of models and textures. Infact, sometimes an entire category (It's more noticible with Armored) was based on one stand alone model that was retextured for different looks. And then those retextures had different color schemes that could be applied. It's minimal effort for maximum customization.

That being said, I would like very unique pieces to be around. The thing CO has that I wish CoX did was a crown for helmets.

"Infact, sometimes an entire category (It's more noticible with Armored) was based on one stand alone model that was retextured for different looks."

That's exactly the problem for me. One model retextured a million times is still one model, and no matter what your color combination or texture you apply the base model is exactly the same as everyone else.. 10 models retextured a million times would be better, not perfect, but a step in the right direction. The more combinations, the more creativity and uniqueness in character design. I hadn't played CoX for a couple years before it's shutdown but from what I remember the character creator was a bit lacking in what I was looking for. I'm not saying it was bad by any means, it was great when it first came out, and I would spend hours making costumes. After a while I felt it got a little stale, though after CoV I only played about another year so I don't know about anything added after that.

This. Or blowing up the map as much as I could and studying the edges of all the uncovered walls for a hint of a missed passage.
Although I'd take Oranbega any day over one of those dark cramped cave maps.

i dont know if we will have

i dont know if we will have just One Mobile App, which can do the Costume Creator, the Power Level Designer, and the Newspaper.

Well, since the Power Level Designer (like Mids Hero Designer) and the Newspaper might not need to share any Assets with the Costume Craetor,
maybe it can exist as a jQuery Mobile App?!?

You can use your tablet then to read the newspapers, with Large images?!?

demos: http://www.jqmgallery.com
Well, i like layouts that have the image at the top... maybe 1/2 of the screen, then if you scroll down a bit, you see the navigation buttons, etc.. take a look at this Demo page: http://www.jqmgallery.com/page/5/ and look at JEEP, Verizon, and even IDAHO samples ;)

I have a question. Is Scaleform slow on mobile devices? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ot469EwnGyQ
It looks like it would give the Character Creator a leg up on the other MMO costume creators out there now.

Ohh.. I found this: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/744587-Scaleform-Know-Its-Limitations
Hmmm... A few sentences really seem to nail it...

"Scaleform should do only one thing: display the user interface. So it should never do the following: do calculations, run timers, run enter frame events, or track and hold data. You should rarely if ever update the UI from within scaleform, it should always be updated via Unrealscript. If you know about design patterns, think of it like Model-View-Controller. Unrealscript should handle the model and controller. View is then handled by scaleform."
