In CoX we had a biography section to give a background of our character to help others understand our character concept, our origin story.
Will there be anything like that in this game? It's not going to be a major selling point, so I'll manage just fine without it but it was definitely a feature I spent a ton of time using in CoX to explain my heroes and villains.
I was a major alt-aholic for a long time and telling a character's story was a major appeal for me, and often received good feedback from players that read them so there were definitely others that paid attention to it. A good or bad character concept was often enough to make or break interest in a character for me. Eventually I did overcome my alt addiction and settled on a few mains (some heroes, some villains) that I loved.
I definitely don't plan on recreating my old mains since their time has come and gone, but I certainly wouldn't mind some spin-off stories if the biography feature is available. :P
"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
IIRC, I'm about 99% sure I remember some Dev mentioning that they intend to have some kind of "bio" section for characters in CoT. Hopefully it'll be a little more "user friendly" than CoH's because the way the GUI worked for that was horrible. It made something like MS Notepad look like the best text editor ever made. I ended up typing my bios outside of the game and just cut-n-pasting my finished text into the game.
Another personal pet-peeve I had in CoH was that the bio section only allowed for 1,024 characters max. I understand the need to keep that space relatively limited because you really don't want people writing full-length novels in that space. On the other hand I could count at least 4 or 5 times where my "initial rough draft" of a character bio literally ended up being like 1,100 characters and I'd have to spend a bunch of extra time just to wordsmith what I wanted to say down to below the 1,024 limit. It was a P.I.T.A. that really didn't need to be a "thing" in a game like this.
Thus I've been suggesting the Devs of CoT give us 2,048 characters for our bios. I know that -any- limit is likely going to piss off somebody because you can never please everyone all of the time. But since a 2,048 character limit would work well enough for me I figured I might as well suggest it for everyone. ;)
P.S. Just to give you a visual feel for what I'm talking about with the character limits the total number of characters I typed in my response above was 1,321. Allowing for 2,048 characters (or even a nice round 2,000) would not really be overly excessive in the least.

I'm very happy to hear that we could be having it!
And yes, I too suffered from insufficient space. I'd just start getting to the good part then I'd reach my limit. :/

Sounds like a cash shop item.
"THE TITANS ARE COMING! THE TITANS ARE COMING!"
I guess this could be something that you "unlock" via the cash shop but why? I mean having a character bio was a built-in FREE feature in CoH.
Unless what you're saying is that the game could come with say a 1,024 character limit for free and then maybe you could pay extra to get more character space. In that case I guess that could be a thing. *shrugs*

You got it.
"THE TITANS ARE COMING! THE TITANS ARE COMING!"
Well even if they made getting "extra bio character space" a cash shop thing I'd still suggest there be a top limit that's relatively small. Like I said earlier we don't want people writing hundreds of pages worth of detail in these things. Maybe they could start super small (say 512 characters for free) and then allow for a cash shop unlock to increase the limit first to 1,024 then finally to 2,048.
