Sorry if it was asked before but I couldn't find it in a search.
I want to know this:
Can we change the heroic (or villainous) identity our character goes by in the game at some point?
The reason I ask is not because I don't know how to pick a name I like, but for RP purposes. In comics, it's common for characters to change their identities at a certain stage when they feel like they've outgrown their old name. Probably the most well-known example of this is the first Robin becoming Nightwing.
So does anyone know if that's something we can do in CoT?
Just like that? Don't know but since names only need to be unique within ones own account I see no hindrance for it. If we get it then most likely this will be similar to how other MMO's allows it, a cash-shop item.
They only need to be unique to our own account, thankfully. That means that we don't have to worry about the good names being taken and having to roleplay as a superhero named "XxXSp4rr0wXxX"
So... any word on this? It's really good for roleplay purposes (and if you legitimately get tired of your name). Your character can shed their old identity and create a new one for themselves if the story you've created for them calls for it. I think it'd be really neat.
Most MMOs have name change options usually as a cash shop item.
It'd be neat to have some sort of name change quest that could be repeated x/month or year or whatever time limit.
But name changes are prime items for the cash shop.

Yeah, sounds like something you ought to buy with Stars.

With extra stars to buy a blanket reduction in reputation, to represent that no one knows that Blackbird used to be Redbird...

Wouldn't that make more sense to have them spend more stars to -not- have a reduction in reputation?

Depends on why you're changing it.
Anyway, I'm not sure we'll have much to say about this until we get closer to launch and nail down what's involved.
