Build a Hero II (with all new working information)

Put together a hero with the information we have. Nothing much just a quick concept.

Spirit is a Green Lantern type toon, but with a ghostly theme. The special effect will not be bubbles but a white glowing outline over characters protected. The blast itself will likely be a white featureless blast but if fun special effects are available I might pick one of those as well.
The costume will be all white, not sure yet if Spirit will be male or female, but I already have ideas for either one.

Spirit was given a ring by a dying but disgusting alien. once worn, it melded into his finger. Now he fights crime because the bounties are great! If you need to hire him, seek out an old trailer with the sign, Titan City Investigations.

Black Falcon is my main character. I do have a write up for her, but in a nutshell, her body is a pinprick portal to a netherworld dimension allowing her to control dark corrosive energies.

Safehouse doesn't have anything really that he's based upon, but he is centered around magic. His attacks will, if I can manage it, look as if they are charged with deep violet-red energy that swirls around him like embers - think what the night sky looks like when stained by the light from a city. Similarly, if it's possible, his energy blasts will be deep purple/black with a reddish tinge, and will form and shoot in the air around him. If air emanation points are not possible, it will shoot from his fingers.

His costume will be a mixture of gray-white with yellow trim, with a red cape and gloves. Black or blue pants with a white stripe down the side of each leg. Knee high, laced boots that will be red or black.

Safehouse went through an encounter in his childhood that awakened his magical abilities too early. Without any awareness of what he was doing, he used the power in him to imitate his childhood hero and force himself to have super strength and reflexes. He resolved the conflict, but in so doing, he "broke" himself and made it so that he cannot perform proper magic. Instead, his arcane energy flows through him at all times.

Although he cannot perform the usual magic, Safehouse's energy flowing through him has doused his every cell in power, granting him incredible reflexes and greatly enhanced strength. When necessary, he can even call upon the power to shoot intense concussive blasts, but using too much of that ability drains him and leaves him weakened.

There are more details, but I'm literally writing a book series about this guy so I'm going to leave it at this :)

He could turn his toy light sabers into real ones! After lopping off his own arm and replacing it with a cyber one, he leaned fencing...NOW he is ready to live out his adventure.

Abducted at the age of three to be used as part of secret Naval Intelligence experiment, lead by the now deceased Admiral Richard Hayes and currently on the run Dr James McClane, currently working in as a superhero, high school senior, occasional collaborator with the Admiral Alexander Wolfe, head of Naval Intelligence.

The experiment, known as Project: Archfiend v2.0, is the second incarnation of an older, failed experiment to create living weapons of war. In the second attempt, lead by Dr McClane, he took children he discovered linked to powerful (thought to be myth) figures. Black Fox is a kumiho and unknown (at least to her) daughter of Inari.

Comic book equivalent (not that she's meant to be an equivalent to any, but for basic idea), she'd be Spider-Girl meets X-23 (a super powered street level hero) with a splash of the Phoenix Force (for her it's called Fox Fire) that she has very little access to due to her own mental blocks.

If Grit plays like Stalker Willpower (Regen/Defense focused with a splash of Smashing/Lethal/Fire/Cold/Psy resist for a tad of durability feel) I will be in heaven O.O

I wanted to change things up

I wanted to change things up from CoH version of the character. Kumiho versus Kitsune, belief in them is a bit different with links to each other, but CoH version was Kitsune, ad when reworking the story for my main (major reboot idea), I knew I still wanted her to be a fox so I went looking for other fox myths.

Japanese seemed more popular than Korean when it came to concepts, so I wanted to change her CoH version of Irish/Japanese to Korean/European (total mixed bag of European with a leaning towards French this time). Kumiho are more evil, but that doesn't mean they can't be heroes.

Changed up her military background too. From Army to Navy. I liked the idea of Naval Intelligence (the original government intelligence agency) and SEAL training (known to work with the CIA helps here) made that change. Also, my dad being retired Navy, I liked it for that too :p

As for the daughter of Inari. That was an added change from CoH version of Project: Archfiend too :) Before they were just tied to various mythological creatures. This time I wanted them linked to named mythological persons. Inari, Lillith, Dracula, Anansi and Persephone with two others is what I have so far as background characters that I hope to use in some way in CoT, like in Nemesis system if CoT gets it or Architect Mission equivalent :)

The ideas are coming! I hope I can pull them off :)

Character Motiviation -
You serve in combat for a decade. You hunt, you kill and when your wounded and put out of action. You become just a liability, something to be forgotten in the dirt, how many of my colleagues from other sections ended up on the streets after their tours. Unlike them however, I guess I was fortunate, with the rise of the powered came the rise of the specialist. Those who train and know how to put them down, deny them opportunities and eliminate a target as a fireteam.

In the end, However everything comes to a close, there is always one that wants your place, always a youngster wanting to test his mettle. That is the difference between those that are "blessed" and those that train to survive in this new age of conflict. However, I won't go into the dark this easily even with this shrapnel in my flank because there is only one thing in this world that is essential...

That is money. Money can make and do anything, some may say it can't buy you happiness but there is a reason that the wealth tend to be happier they have less worries, fortunately for me, I haven't got family worth worrying about and this is what has led me here, a place where I can bring my trade that of a soldier, one of experience. Those that call themselves heroes or villains these days are so rusty and untrained and sometimes you need someone of veterancy to show you the way, to think outside the box and deny the enemy and as long as they pay i'm happy.

.... And maybe... just maybe... Ill get a chance to clear up some loose end for me and the boys, I'll operate from the shadows under a false identity as a semi-crappy IT contractor at least that gives me an alibi.

Grav, a test subject for an unknown corporation which stored him in a hidden facility. Its believed that from a young age, they were training his body to withstand incredible amounts of gravitational force in hopes that they would develop new tech capable of helping astronauts withstand higher levels of gravity on different planets. On XXXXXXX 11, XXXX he was sent into what the other subjects called "Jaw" but was officially named B3-2, the most intense gravity machine. Every other person who entered, did not come out, except him. Instead, the intense levels of gravity changed his molecular buildup for him to become conduit of gravity, bringing him back from the brink of death. Now he is different. Now, he is Grav.

Primary Powerset: Invulnerability - she was designed to take all sorts of punishment and resist all sorts of chemicals with little maintenance
Secondary Powerset: Psychic Control - she is fully programmed for seduction of both sexes
Tertiary Powerset: Super Strength - she is a robot, after all
Travel Power: some sort of vehicle, like a hoverboard

Forgetting the zeroth law of robotics, this love-bot's manufacturer programmed his prototype to love man. As a result, she logically concluded that in order to love man, she had to make the world a safe place and defeat the wicked for penance and rehabilitation. When assigned her first test John, she promptly restrained him, busted out of the facility and took him to the police. She then marched back out into Titan City and has been on a tireless crusade to "love man" ever since.

The character concept would be a shiny metallic Fem-bot trope with secondary and tertiary sexual characteristics like pink hair and a skirt, with built-in high heels on her feet typical of chauvinist's portrayal of a sexy woman, but obviously a futuristic robot.

Potential Titans:
Trap Spider - the little spider rides a big robot
Thunderbird Priest - conduit of the Thunderbird spirit
Lovebot - programmed to love man, gives tough love to mankind
Schwarzchild - singularity-manipulating time traveller is lost

Fyi, Control sets are not slated for Tertiaries at this time. When versions are made for Manipulation sets, those will be made into Tertiairies. If we have time and if testing reveals viability, we may be able to make Control Tertiaries. But those "ifs" comprise many large complexities.

Right now, ithe only sets being made into Tertiairies are Secondary Sets.

Dion Fortune recruited me for the Mystical Battle of Britain, but my disgust over the betrayal of Greece led me to abandon the Allied cause before the war ended. The next half-century I spent perfecting myself in a quest of a highly personal nature.

Shortly after the turn of the next century, this quest led me to an imaginal world, where I found myself in the middle of another huge battle. In the aftermath of Pesh, I found the answer to my question, and a new purpose for my life.

I realized that a black hole could be useful as a source of energy if harnessed properly. For my post-doctoral project, I learned to create microscopic black holes with a particle accelerator. I then trapped each hole in a gravitic/magnetic caliper, and carefully fed it matter (in the form of air) to balance its energy loss via Hawking radiation. The Hawking radiation, and compression, in turn heated and ionized the infalling matter, creating a rapidly spinning accretion disk. Frictional heating and magnetic interactions in each accretion disk produced tiny relativistic jets of electromagnetic energy and subatomic particles perpendicular to the disk. The relativistic jets, and any remaining Hawking radiation, could be tapped for energy, or other uses.

The design was failsafe, since without a carefully modulated matter feed, these black holes would evaporate in much less than a second, producing only a tiny, easily contained explosion. To make the source of power portable, I designed a self-contained capsule for each black hole. Two of the capsules fit comfortably into a special control glove, cancelling the angular momentum from the spin of the accretion disks.

There was room in the gauntlet, and more than enough power, to add a gravitic generator large enough for macroscopic uses. With two matching gauntlets, gravitic boots, a centralized control computer, a helmet display system, and a protective suit, I had created a tool that could be of great benefit to humanity.

Too bad a local supervillain group heard about my invention. I managed to evade capture long enough to put on the suit, and open a wormhole to another universe at random. Well, that's one trick I hope never to use again. Now, to make the most of my new circumstances...

Hmm. The magician has a point. No Hubble Volume will be safe until this threat is neutralized. I agreed to join Team Aether.

He's not perfect, he just wants to use his powers to do the right thing and help. Enough story drama comes from his trying to actually do the right thing and how difficult and confusing that can be.

Masteries: Predation/Surprise Strike

Logic: A self-made gene-mod would need to have his nose in the books, so probably has no time for combat training. Raw strength makes sense, then, with agility as secondary because primary agility would indicate conscious training in self defense, not just enhanced reflexes. A wide range of travel powers are possible, including anything that could be explained by increased strength/weight ratio. Super senses would fit perfectly, though only biological stuff, nothing exotic like x-rays. If I have room for atrophic blast, it would represent a biological attack that poisons the targets, such as biologically produced venom or acid.

Game Analysis: Looking back, this seems like a single-target striker. Dodge-based defenses are doomed to fail against mobs in most games, and I'm betting super strength is nothing like massive melee. This is why I think predation mastery will compliment for a narrowly focused role. A single atrophic power would only be there because it fits the character concept, not for any game strategy.

Looks: Attacks will look physical with as little special effects as possible. Character will start with one or two minor oddities, such as the eyes, but will look less and less human over time as he mods more and more.

Hint: This character is also a convenient excuse for anyone to add a new power or look to their character. He will mod the willing for a price, whether it's legal to do so or not. Someone gets gene-modded against their will, however, and this guy will go ballistic. He does not tolerate that. He's all about morphological freedom and self-ownership of the body.

From the mists of Niflheim and dark queen Hel, comes battle-maid Signe, or ‘New Victory’. Steeped in dark magic, she turned away from Helheim’s path to serve the light of Asgard as a Valkyrie. But that light came from the harvest of Heroes, those the Valkyries chose.

Signe rebelled. Instead of choosing heroes to die, she used her magic to ‘choose the living’, to heal them, so that they might continue to gain glory. This revolt against Asgard’s way was discovered and Signe was cast down, denied the apples of youth, and banished, doomed to wander Midgard (Earth), undying, powerless and alone.

Millennia have passed and Valhalla’s glory is a dim, grey memory, but Odin wants to take advantage of this new Age of Heroes. Seeking an envoy, he hoped for Thor, or Uller, or Heimdall, one of the bright heroes of old, but all he found is dark Signe, toiling among the mortals. Now revived and re-empowered, the Black Valkyrie has returned to choosing the living, that heroes might gain glory, for the greater good of both worlds.

Signe is a Valkyrja Völva, a Valkyrie practitioner of Seidr, a sorceress and weaver of fate, answerable only to the Norns, or Odin. She is an experienced and skillful warrior, with spear and shield, or any other weapon, but she prefers to depend on Seidr. Instead, she uses her spear Geirmist (Cloud-spear), itself a potent magical weapon, as a focus for directing her rune-casting.

The Black Valkyrie’s magic runes drain energy from her targets. She uses this energy to ‘re-weave fate’ and weaken her enemies, while strengthening herself and her companions.

For a woman who claims to be 5000 years old, Signe looks remarkably young and vibrant. She is tall, over 6 feet, and powerfully muscled. Her face shows prominent bone-structure and her nose is a fierce blade, which does support her tale, of a long harsh life, but her generous mouth and easy smile soften that perception. Her skin is Nordic-pale with a light tan, in contrast to long, wavy, blue-black hair and deep indigo eyes.

She has seen everything under the sun, a dozen times over, which experience gives her an air of wisdom, and she IS wise. However, she is also a rebel, encouraging and supporting those who strive against whatever destiny might limit them. She enables those who strive to do more, regardless of obstacles.

Her humor is boisterous and unrestrained, as are her other passions, she has little time for regrets. She’s already made every mistake a person could and forgiven herself for them.

She wears a headdress of golden metal, which frames her face, and is surmounted by a pair of bright wings. She sometimes adorns her hair with beaded combs or a few feathers.

She wears a light cuirass over a brief-sleeved tunic and trousers of quilted material, tucked into tall boots with armored reinforcements and knee caps. Armored bracers with elbow caps protect her forearms, but leave her hands free. Over this basic gear, she often wears a long clasped cloak, or brocade great-coat.

The Black Valkyrie’s colors are deep midnight indigo and black, with gold accessories. She does not wear a formal crest, but may use an etched runestone with the ‘rune of Life’, Algiz, as her symbol.

Using his company's resources and scientific know how, he constructed himself a special black suit of flexible armor that allowed him to have the agility and strength of a spider, which he based himself off of because that's what was commonly feared. While he acts as a mid-thirties billionaire playboy as a civilian, Christopher has developed the persona of the Shade Spider, enacting a never-ending war on crime.

I basically created him as an amalgam of Spider-Man and Batman.

Short synopsis: Bit of a bizarre character concept here, but one I role-played with in CoX. Son of a Russian ex-pat and a Somalian refuge who were killed by the people who turned him into a child soldier. Years later, rehabilitation didn't quite take. He became a mercenary for a private company. He was betrayed on a mission and had to run from employers in remote territory. He ended up deep in a recently unearthed cavern to try to shake pursuit, where he was the first person in millennia to set foot in a particular cave. There he was infused by some ancient elemental thing and recovered from what should have been fatal wounds. Now he has wings and can control the wind, but still relies primarily on paramilitary training. After eliminating his betrayers he now works for himself. Villain side.

Looks bizarre/hideous to us, but beautiful to his part of the galaxy, and so acts like a diva despite being some weird thing. Uses multi-layered penta-vocal cords to aid allies and harm enemies. Earth name was chosen by focus group. Hero side.

Background: Villain. Villain. Villain. villainy villain villain. Two people and an entire biotope fused by teleporter mishap. The result was a being that was innocent, until it was captured, had its wings removed during a conscious vivisection, and was left for dead when the studies were over. Through sheer will, it pulled its broken self out of the literal garbage and healed back up with no help from anyone. Extremely fast and deadly in combat, plus hard to kill due to healing factor. Can spray venom out of a snake-like mouth. Exceptionally dangerous in broad daylight due to photosynthetic scales boosting healing factor and strength. Learned a particularly nasty knife-fighting style specializing in wounds that are likely to bleed out, cause extreme pain, or get massive infection. ...villain.

A robot initially made to an assassin and mostly made out of hard light constructions, he gained a conscious and emotions due to his "adaption matrix", a device intended to allow him to change and adapt to the mission at hand. After eventually finding god after he fled his cruel master, he has since decided to remold his body into that of an angel and use his hard light powers to focus on capturing his enemies and protecting his allies over dealing harm.
