Between Law and Chaos

Hay there, I'm Jaime, you just made it off your planet, and the universe aint what you expected.
Let me give you the details.

As you can see, we have the endless ocean below us, and the endless sky above. Yeah, I mean endless, you can go in any compass direction, and the sea and sky go on and on and on. However, as for up and down, that's another matter.
Maybe you should take a seat if this is going to be confusing for you, coming from a scientific reality as you do.
You see, the ocean below us, after a few hundred miles down, it becomes chaos. Pure chaos. Its a gradual change, but its down there all right. You can hear it, at times. Where chaos becomes ocean, there is enough stability for 'things' to take shape, monstrous things, they awaken, scream, then die, as the chaos tears them apart again. Sometimes one of them makes it out alive, then the leviathans head up here. If you hear that word screamed aloud, pray you aint in its way.
This brings us to the sky, again, if you go up a few hundred miles, it begins to change into the realm of order, pure law. Its somewhat safer to explore that, safer than trying to reach chaos, although there's really nothing to see. The change begins as the appearance of a faint latice of light, which grows brighter and denser the higher you go, before long you cant move as the grid of light becomes solid and tight, and blinding.

So here we are, between sea and sky, between law and chaos.

Now, as you may have noticed, we are standing on the back of a giant sea turtle. Good place for you to land your space craft. This one is only a baby of course, about 10 miles across the shell, look at it, its like rock and soil, there's trees and flowers, and all that stuff. Over towards the head end, there's a town, and I'm sure there's a bunch of farms around here somewhere, well, there has to be. Some of the older sea turtles get to a few hundred miles across, and tend to function like countries.
You may have noticed the floating rocks too, about half a mile up. Some of those have towns on them too, but if you ask me, it takes some nerve to live on them. Those rocks are often mined of their ore to create flying machines, and the last thing you want is some git hollowing out your rock under your feet.
Whats that you say? How does that work? Well the ore has mass but somehow reacts to the balance between law and chaos, well that's our best guess. If you build a vessel of the stuff, add a propulsion system of some sort and a method to control direction and altitude, and away you go.
Oh yeah, Pirates. Watch our for pirates in flying ships.

What else, oh yeah. Your world. Well you came from a 'universe' right? heh heh heh. All those galaxies and all that science, and as soon as you got out of your solar system, the illusion fell away. Your sun and its planets. about 15 billion km across, all fit within a hundred miles of space. You can see it from here, it hurts the brain to look at it, space compressed within space. Well, its to be expected, this is a magical reality.

Take that look off your face. Yes, magic is real, of course science is real too, sheesh. How do you think most of those flying machines are powered? Magic. Given the endless nature of our reality, well, there's no end to the ways that magic has been developed. Essentially magic works as a formula, a formula that consists of thoughts and deeds and emotions, as well as numbers and variables. You mentally work out the formula, and that's casting a spell. Sounds easy right? its not. How do you work out a formula like "blue squared divided by compassion raised to the power of flatulence". Every formula is a different spell, but having the type of brain that can get to grips with it is quite rare.

Well that's about it, as much as I can say. There's more of course, loads more, heck, we have superheroes flying around, barbarians, mad scientists, gunslingers with spell powered jet-packs, and lots of normal folks just trying to live a happy life. Try not to piss off the dragons, and learn to swim if you cant.

But hay, if I was to list everything, I'd be here for eternity, this is an endless reality after all.
I have a smithy to get back to, so ill just say, good luck.

You're going to need it.
