I know a lot of artists would love to help the City of Titans developers in whatever way we can, and I think contests for whatever art element or picture you may need would be a fun way to energize and make use of the wonderful talent of the former CoH community.
The only problem I see is that the City of Titans design is so close to the City of Heroes one that it might qualify as infringement. I do like the statue on one site and City Hall on the other.
You are correct, I couldn't help myself, I wanted to poke NCSoft in the eye artistically. But as you said, I should change it so it not so close to the City of Heroes logo.

Very nice. Hmm.. a thought. What would it look like with 'City of' in silver and Titans in gold? Kind of putting an emphasis on Titans.
I would suggest actually simplifying.
Something that is printable on clothing, easy to see and read
Something like a silhouette of an iconic character or the raising phoenix with the words City of Titans extending from the silhouette

Napkin sketch in Adobe Illustrator. Your artists have an opportunity to line up the letter "I"s in maybe an interesting way. (I'm just using public domain artwork for the fist and bird torch—obviously, one of the artists could do this much better.)

Steamtank has the right idea. A logo should be simple and iconic and easily re-produced in one color. Tiger's illustrations are terrific, but they're more useful as splash page/header art in the above form. I think the second one has good use of logo type, and could easily be refined to work as a one/two color logo. it's easier to judge the merits of the design without the ooh-aah of Photoshop effects :) I also liked the suggestion of a heroic silhouette and bold type.

Something I came up with real quick. A little more retro. Just playing around with pop art and halftones really.

and for some Sory arcs, where being a hero is morraly tough, you can depict the hero holding up the city like this: http://www.canstockphoto.com/debt-concept-8599636.html. Yep... the loading screen for those Story arcs might have a different loading screen Image, like the one above.
I took inspiration from the pictures Izzy posted and came up with something I think looks alright. It's inspired by the idea, but not directly following it. I used the idea of the male hero carrying the "city" and the female hero lifting up the "of". It's still a work in progress but here's what I came up with. 2 versions, almost identical, only difference, "city" touching the girder or not.

Don't be scared to let the letters for TITANS take up more space than "City" and "Of" do.
City and Of dont have to be the same height either, can be shorter than TITANS if you want.
Play around with it some more. You are alomost there. ;)
Also, Could you put a T over the Mans Chest (maybe make the T stretch to his hips), but Inverse the Mask, so that the T is White... and play with it.. maybe just a White Outile of a T might do. Just keep in mind, we should be able to tell its suppose to be a T there.
Afterwards, for a Costume Contest, we can have TITANS as all different colors, and actually use Heroes positioned to Look like each of the letters. ;)

Upload is only for attachments, and limited to text docs.
Host the pic somewhere. Find its URL and put it in the BBCode bracket tags for 'img'. You can also specify the size in pixels that it will display. E.g.

Ah. okay, thanks! Here's a quick sketch showing what I mean. Logos should work in one color for maximum versatility in print media and backgrounds. This simple silhouette could be fleshed out like Tiger's terrific work. Props to Steamtank and Tiger.

Not bad, but look at the City of Heroes original logo. lets try to avoid having the City at the top, and in a peak like it originally was. You can still have the City, but move it around a bit.. and not in a Peak (were it looks like its vanising point is in the middle)
