So let me start off by saying I haven't really had the time to read most of the topics on the thread but I thought I might have an idea for a game mechanic we can implement.
I've recently been playing a lot of Dota 2 and I thought how nice it would be to have a few powers in CoT to be passive and actually make a huge difference. CoX had a very simple approach in passive abilities such as Rough skin (+10% base physical/lethal damage resist) and that was about as complex as you got with passive abilities. They did however have passive abilities per archtype such as Scrappers having the ability to do a critical strike for double damage based on chance. ALSO!!! another note... This will require the use of an auto attack. (Yes a lot of you hate auto attacks but they add a whole dynamic to the game (and does spiderman always use is web shooters to subdue enemies? no, he beats the crap out of them with his fists).
What if we took these basic implementations of archtype passive abilities and built on them more? Some things I have thought about: (Keep in mind I am not to aware of the proposed archtypes just yet so I will use CoX terms)
Tanker:
1) Increased damage resistance based on teams health percentage. E.g. Team health is 500/1600 hit points. tank base resistance increases 17.2% [100 - (500/1600*100) / 4] There would also be a chance to level this move up even more for a lower dividend such as base 4 then though upgrading 4/3.5/3/2.5
2) Tank is so dat gum strong that he/she has a natural chance to stun on attack. (10% chance to stun for 2 seconds. upgradable to (10/2)/(15/3)(20/3)(25/3) Does not effect enemies higher ranking than boss)
Scrapper:
1) Scrapper is a master at finding weaknesses (20% chance for 125% on attack. (20/125)/(25/175)(25/250)/(25/300)
I cannot really think of any more at this specific time but I thought this might be pretty interesting for everyone to read. Thanks all!
I'll point you here for the Archetypes in CoT, http://cityoftitans.com/forum/updated-classification-and-specification-chart
And I believe that "masteries" mentioned in a KS update (there's a thread with those too somewhere) would be the answer to this.
