I'm not 100% sure if this has been brought up, but what can/should be done about Currency Spammers? You know the ones that send you unsolicited in-game mails about "Cheapest Inf on the market!"
Naturally, they will be tracked down and banned when possible, but the there can be only so many GMs available at a given time, and at this point we're all hoping that the player base is going to be too large to give personalized attention to every petition.
What are things that have worked in other games?
I have a couple of thoughts that are from Eve Online, which may not translate particularly well to CoT.
1) Allow Star sales for Inf in the market. This means that there is a going market rate for buying in-game currency. This is probably going to be a thing, as is my understanding.
2) Unknown Contact fee. This is a mechanic where the sender of a message is charged an in-game currency fee by MWM if they are not already known/associated with the recipient. Conditions that would invalidate this fee can include, but are not limited to: Same SG, Same group/team/whatever, on the recipient's friends list, recipient has disabled this fee from incoming messages.
What are some other ideas on curbing these pests? Ideally these would involve less GM direct involvement.

I believe the plan is for a Buy-the-Box model, so every account must pay some fee to start. No free accounts means that gold-spammers who are Caught, get banned and lose their investment. They can't just start up another account and keep spamming.

A one-stop spammer report feature for the chat window. If I can click on the name and select "Report Spammer", which simultaneously blocks/ignores them, I will do so. If I have to add them to my ignore list, then go into my ignore list to report them as spammers, or other such hoop jumping, I'm very unlikely to go beyond simply ignoring/blocking them. (Especially if there are many of them, heaven forfend.)

Good points made by all.
The unknown contact fee will just encourage people to send huge numbers of friend requests so they can then spam you.

Plus the unknown contact fee will impact my "LFT" and "ITF - LF1M" broadcasts.

It is also hoped that the ability to put your currency up on the player-to-player market in exchange for Stars will severely undercut the spammers' success rate, thus discouraging the activity. It probably won't stop it completely (especially the scammers who will offer rates they have no intent of paying out on just to phish for ID info), but it should help.

In relation to my previous post, in the unlikely event that it needs to be pointed out, the blocking of any other player should be account-wide rather than by character.
