Alter egos

I am sure it has been brought up before but having an alter ego (I know there is a better term for this but I cant bring it to mind) to change in to would be fun. Like Clark Kent for Superman and such. Having an in game purpose for it could be as part of quests. Like in movies & comic when the hero needs to do investigating they do it in their civilian cloths. So maybe parts of quests may be easier to accomplish if you are in civilian cloths or your characters alter ego. Also you may be less likely to be harassed by NPC super villains as you will be unimportant to them. But low level thugs may be more enticed to mess with you as you are another "easy target". Being in civilian cloths could work like stealth, if you have to use your powers you reveal yourself as your hero form. In some missions this could be bad as it would blow your cover and you may loose any progress you made. so you may have to fight some thugs without super powers, maybe even have abilities for combat while in civilian cloths, just some basic combat.

Could be interesting. There

Could be interesting. There has been talks of information gathering missions, but I don't know if it has been brought up where you are pretty much required to go through it as your non-super self. If you had to go into a hangout spot on the bad side of town. As to not start a fight you would have to enter and get information in your casual attire. Otherwise, the whole crowd would start attacking you.

Welcome to the forums.

Welcome to the forums.
Secret Identity mechanics have been brought up numerous times over the years. The devs have stated that they considered it but ultimately decided it would be too problematic. Most recently, Dr Tyche stated it would be like having to design an entirely separate game and tack it on.
Most Secret ID things could probably be handled using civilian clothes in one of your costume slots and just RPing.

Your ideas about using it as a stealth mechanic might have merit. We will have stealth tertiaries. It might be possible to have a stealth aesthetic which, instead of making you invisible, you are in disguise...hiding in plain sight. They mentioned that some missions might have completion bonuses if done by stealth so that could be an option.
