Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

All the Character Slots

All of them. I want them all!

A huge part of why I played CoX was character creation. I have zero doubts that the character creator when it comes out will be powerful and fun. I have some worry about having enough slots.

CoX gave you a really vast number to fill. I would love that many or more. Altism is what I lived for.

(I tried to see if this was addressed anywhere, but there's no search function on the forums. That'd be another plus)

I'm pretty sure of that too. By the end, CoH let you create upwards of 500 characters. If you spent the money to unlock all 36 slots on all the servers, that is. I didn't have quite that many, but I had over 100. I'd like to have, at the very least, 25 or so character slots. Maybe with more available for purchase.

Especially since the game is going to be initially targeted at level cap 30, most of the fun to be had will be leveling and not endgame, so players that stay will be players that will have a bunch of characters.

Actually there is a search function, but it's not linked to on the forums pages (at least that I've found). It is linked to on the left side of the homepage, the See What's New page, the contact page and (this is the least useful of these links, I think) the Search Page

I want a lot of alts. I want to be able to either buy or earn (or both!) more alts. Seeing that there are some folks from CoX with hundreds of alts gives me great hope.

Honestly, I never thought in terms of "Main" and "Alts". I'd start a new character every time I thought of a new concept, or decided I wanted to try out diffrent AT, and play them for a while. I had a TON of characters in the 25-35 range and a handful of 50's. The 50's resulted more from requests of teammates for a particular role than any genuine desire on my part to "level" them up.

So I vote for "Lots O'Slots" right off the bat, and let me buy/earn more. From a pure business standpoint I expect to see a strict limit on F2P slots. As a subscriber, the best thing you can do to keep me happy is give me more outlets for my creativity.

I will probably pass 8 characters (Champions' silly limit) within a few months.

Quite frankly, there's no technological reason to limit number of characters per server, even with just one server. Space is dirt cheap and database systems are fast and robust.

They should start with 16 and then, if they want F2P type money, charge for additional blocks of 8.

If not, 16 won't be enough so start with 48. Seriously.

Indeed! I already have 5 character concepts I plan for launch and a stable to expand that with at least 6 more. That's just at launch. I'd really like to see there is some support for more slots than we can shake a stick at, even if it's as a reward for leveling up the ones we have.

I'd say 8-12 slots to start with, and have "extra slots" ready to go in the cash store. After all, we want to burn through the stipend as fast as possible.

I'd say 16-20 is a good place to start w/o charging extra.

However, here's an idea, maybe there could be a slot for Alts or "toy" slots. Have s amount of slots (2-5) that are strictly for concept testing:

Characters in these slots are given a special sort of shape-shifting, each slot can hold t number of toons (3-5) in one slot, up to a certain level (7-10 maybe), since you can't just have a superslot with 5 max toons. These toons would also have to be limited from doing certain TFs, or other areas toon-swapping can be exploited.

This would be toggleable in the main menu of course, which would lock in the current slot AND once the toon reaches the toy slot cap (7-10) he has to chose which of the "toys" he'll stick with, and this will be locked in from the main menu too.

-Allows spec-testing (though spec-swapping may be implemented, which would negate this utility)
-Allows Class-testing: Say I want an [energy blast]/[empathy] support-focused toon, but I can't decide if Partisan [Corr] or Sentinel [Defender] is more suited for my toon's goals, this would allow testing of such a decision that could be otherwise irreversible, or a waste of a slot and a bit of time.
-Efficiently placing multiple "toy" toons in one slot, which allows alt-oholics like me to save spots.

Cons:
-Likely difficult to implement
-Would need to be monitored carefully, to avoid exploitation.

Thoughts?

My initial position: This certainly wouldn't be launch-necessary, but I think infrastructure shouldn't limit such a concept.

I think the viability of the "toy slots" would depend on how long it takes to get from level 1 to 10. Getting to level 10 in CoH could be done in an hour without really power gaming. If that is the amount of time it would take in CoT then the toy slot really wouldn't be needed.

Depending on the XP formulae used by the Devs, Titan level 10 would be Security Level 16-20 in CoH, since they plan a cap of 30 compared to 50.

In CoH, level 20 took considerable time not an insane amount, but not an hour, even PLing by most means. As well, level 20 in CoH still left out many major achievements, so the exploitability at this level is limited.

But yeah, viability depends on the math either way, but a good line could be drawn I'm sure, I don't think it is the cheif obstacle to viability.

Our target cap is 50, but

Our target cap is 50, but launch is to 30. Why? Because level 34 is the mid-point in content. By being only to 30, to be frank, we only need to get 1/3rd the content ready.

I would remind folk that we said way back at the beginning that the plan was that when you hit level cap, another character slot would unlock, as well.

I see it has already been mentioned the cap is 50 not 30, so enough said.

I suppose technical aspects could be more of an issue, but if the math holds out that there is little to no benefit to a system it probably shouldn't even be attempted. I do want to say I am not against the idea in any way, just looking for possible pitfalls.

It still depends on the difficulty of "level 10", is it proportional, or is Titan Level 50 more like CoH level 70?

I still feel the advantages outweigh the pitfalls, BUT, if technical limits are extremely high, making a few alts becomes more and more viable than the toy slot structure, i'm still for it.

Opening a new free slot when you get to max level is a great idea, but it shouldn't be the only way to acquire new slots. You do not want leveling to become a chore for people, or force them to decide "delete a 34 or polish them off to 50?"

Well - I'd imagine new character slots will be available in the Game Store - it'd be a good way for CoT to make a bit of extra cash. As long as we start off with a decent amount of starting slots and we have a way of getting them in-game (i.e. levelling a character to 50) it shouldn't be too intrusive to most people. And MWM can't give everything away for free ;^p. There is a definite balance to be found, but at the end of the day, MWM is going to want you to throw a bit of cash their way every now and then and new character slots is probably going to be an in-demand item.
