オンナノコズ

Okay, this is just too cool not to share. Someone flew a drone (with permission, presumably) into a school in Japan with a bunch of schoolgirls in the classroom and hallway and stairs, giving the girls credit for participating in the videos. The sheer level of piloting skill in these videos is somewhat breathtaking, in addition to the unique perspective the drone cam offers in moving around. And before anyone gets worried, everything about these videos is rated G.

You can see that the wall clock shows a time of 11:30 in the first video, so presumably the filming was happening during a lunch break, and in the second video the wall clock shows 4:40, which is presumably after classes were finished for the day.

Both videos are less than 2 minutes long each and just really nice to watch (although the girls are more cheerful and lively in the second video, while the first is more carefully staged).

For those not familiar with the Japanese language, オンナノコ (onnanoko) is simply the word for "girl" (singular) ... but the usual way to pluralize the word (in Japanese) would be to add a "tachi" onto it so you'd wind up with onnanokotachi ... but that wasn't done in this case. Instead, whoever made this video borrowed the English style of pluralization of adding an "s" on the end, resulting in オンナノコズ (onnanokoz(u)), which then translates out at "girls" (plural).

It's obviously a relatively tiny drone given the obstacles it was flying through/around. Pretty decent camera for such as small drone and yes it was pretty decent piloting as well.

Given how wide-spread drones like this are these days we're going to need various drones like these as pets for CoT (either as vanity pets that would be following us around "documenting" our exploits or as offensive pets with lasers/machine guns/etc.).

At first, I thought it was a live action replay of an anime intro. Doubly so when they all lined up at the end.

Y'know, I hadn't even considered that angle. I wasn't posting this in terms of thinking it would be an inspiration for something to put into City of Titans.

However ... now that you mention it ...
Envision if you will, a REPORTER who is accompanied by a micro-drone "pet" that is documenting everything they do.

Offensive pets of that size would be a bit hard to take (since they'd be of the "noisy cricket" scale), but using one as a plot device for infiltrating a location to gather information ... basically as a (flying) spy camera ... would have some rather obvious uses in terms of story potential for missions.

Given the fact that I'm involved in a number of your side projects as well, I honestly have to ask which one.

It does occur to me that more than one may be an accurate answer, too. :)

It is only when we stand up, with all our failings and sufferings, and try to support others rather than withdraw into ourselves, that we can fully live the life of community.
