So on the car forum i meander about, this "equation" started a 10 page argument, lets see how everyone does here
:P
3(2x -4)=2(3x-5)

3(2x-4)=2(3x-5)
3(x-2)=(3x-5) Divide both sides by 2
3x-6=3x-5 Simplify
-6=-5 Subtrack 3x from each side
6=5 Multiply both sides by -1
No solution exists.
The world is a mess and I just ... need to rule it.
*cheers* - i was shocked at how many wrong posts there were on my old car forum before someone remembered basic math, haha

First answer this:
Let's say I have an unknown quantity, 'x'.
Now let's say I subtract one from x and set that equal to subtracting two from x. That would be represented as such:
x-1 = x-2
Well, you would say right away, they're not equal. If you take one away from a number, it's going to be different than taking away 2 from the same number. It's not an equality, it's an inequality. The equation should be:
x-1 > x-2
Because if you subtract x from both sides, you get:
-1 > -2
Not equal.
Same with the OP:
3(2x -4)=2(3x-5)
6x - 12 = 6x - 20
x - 2 = x - 2 2/3
-2 = - 2 2/3
That's not right. It should be:
-2 > -2 2/3
The original equation was set up as in inequality but with an equals sign. Wrong.

Im not getting it...
3(2x-4)=2(3x-5)
6x-12=6x-10
0=2
No solution

wait.
3(2x-4)=2(3x-5)
3(2004).
Half-Life 2 Episode One, the first in a 3 part series, came out in 2004.
2 x 3 is 6.
6-5 is 1.

I was told there would be no math.

Really suck at math I still sometimes count on my fingers to answer the math question on the forum. Don't always get it right either...
