Multi-barreled Names

My request is to be able to put spaces into your toon's name, so as to give them a formal title, full name or even a phrase or sentence as a name, so if you want to call your toon The King of the Moon, Master of the Universe, President of Hawaii, Americas Most Wanted, Whatre you lookin at or There is no spoon, you can do so without running the words into each other like a maniac.

How viable is this?

Champions Online managed it

Champions Online managed it six years ago, so I see no reason why MWM can't do it for CoT. And I've seen spaces in forum handles here, so I can't see MWM not wanting to do it. I myself used spaces several times in CO, from Tinker Belle (a gadgeteer from Georgia, not a pixie!) through Henry Martian, Dakota Sue, Calypso King, Ensign V'lyr...

Because CoT will be using

Because CoT (like CO) will be using "global names" there would be less of a need for the "local names" to follow strict delimiter rules. That's just a fancy way of saying they might make our global name have to follow the traditional spaceless format but the local part of our names could be more free-form.

For example let's say your global name is 'GlukeABC' and you want a character named 'Super Dude'. The game might force you to keep your global as GlukeABC (no spaces) but still allow you to have a space between Super and Dude. Whenever the game printed your name in a dialog box or team list it could just use the local part so it'd look like 'Super Dude' on the screen.

Formally your character's name would probably be something like "Super Dude"@GlukeABC. The double-quotes would be used to delimit your name instead of spaces. That's probably the way you'd have to type it (quotes and all) if you wanted to use it in text chat messaging or the like. Basically it would be a trade off: something like quotes would be needed because the game couldn't rely on spaces to delimit your name.

There is also the possibility

There is also the possibility that there will be both character creation and unlockable titles to round things out.

I get how the global naming

I get how the global naming works broadly speaking, what I mean to ask is will we definitely be able to use more than one space in our local names? Is that planned or not?

TBH that's one of those things I'm not 100% sure of myself, but at this point I'd be very surprised if they didn't allow for it. *shrugs*

Considering that CoH used a

Considering that CoH used a comma to separate name from message when whispering other toons then I do not see why one or more spaces would be any form of real problem.

The thing is that they do not need to use space as a delimiter in every case where a delimiter is needed, they can use other characters for specific cases.

As long as the recurring

As long as the recurring Space character isn't concurrent (one immediately next to another).
And the Space char is not at the Start or at the End of the toons name. Then it might be fine. ;)

So The Mighty Paladin instead

So The Mighty Paladin instead of TheMightyPaladin or worse Themightypaladin?
Oh wait we didn't ask about multiple capital letters.
Will I be able to do The Mighty Paladin, or will I be stuck With The mighty paladin or Just Paladin.

The trick for formatting here is whether or not spaces will be allowed for names in CoT - the use of lowercase versus capital letters shouldn't matter either way. The difference is that programs sometimes use spaces as "delimiters" to know when words/names begin or end for parsing. A game like CoT usually treats lowercase and capital letters in names equally as far as parsing goes.

tl;dr You should be able to use "The Mighty Paladin" in CoT. If you can't I'd be very surprised.
