It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Second Chance Crowdfunding Dates?

We were told a couple of weeks ago that the second chance crowdfunding effort was delayed in order to avoid conflicting with Valiance Online's imminent fundraising event. However, there has been no communication from either MWM nor Valiance Online in regards to funding since then. It's disappointing to have been so close to something that many of us have been clamoring for only to have the opportunity mysteriously vanish.

I must sound like a broken record, but when can we expect to hear anything about it?

From my point of view, at this juncture it wouldn't make much sense for MWM to hold its second chance crowdfunding before early next year.

You may be right. Warcabbit

You may be right. Warcabbit did state that MWM intends to use the funds to hire full-time 3D artists and/or animators, but also, that they wouldn't be needed until the systems they'll abide by are functional. If that work isn't finished, then it may not make much sense to launch this opportunity right away.

I'm just hoping for some official word to keep us informed because we got stuck with a cliffhanger. I ♥ communication.

VO is currently using a very temporary website while they finish designing a new one, which is supposed to go up soon. The wordpress site is the one to go to, for now.

That may be a part of it. My reasoning is that there are two major holiday seasons coming up in America (three, if one wants to count Halloween) and that it would be bad business and poor PR to run a crowdfunding event at that time. Anything before February 2016 strikes me as less than ideal.

Perhaps, but then again, the project's original Kickstarter ran during the month of October 2013 and did exceptionally well.

MWM cannot hold the event in

MWM cannot hold the event in October since VO's crowdfunding, even if they launched it tomorrow, would run through September. If they were willing to hold the second chance event right on the heels of the VO crowdfunder then they wouldn't have postponed their August date in the first place. Since VO will presumably provide a heads-up about their crowdfunding, it's much more likely that they're shooting for the October date (unless they want to contend with November or December).

I just found out about this

I just found out about this project and I was sad to see I missed the kickstarter event (by a long shot). I loved CoX and thought it was gone forever. I've tried CO and DCUO but it's just not the same. I started playing CoX when I was 15 and played it off and on through its final years. There was just something phenomenal about the community that no other game I've played has. I want to give what I can to help support this. My name "TenTonBlue" was my main CoX char and it has been my online name for everything since. My friends online even refer to me as "TenTon" to this day. I really do hope for another chance to support this project so I can be part of the group that helped us all find our way back home.

Welcome, Blue :).

What you'll find here is generally the best of the community you miss from CoH, and also a Dev team committed to building us a new home in the best spirit of what we miss rather than raising the old home from the dead.

A reincarnation rather than a zombie.

You'll notice sometimes that many here are "saddle sore", as another poster here called it, from missing our old home and not having a new one yet--but don't let that bother you. It's still a great group even if patience for the time it takes to build a true reincarnation gets a little thin sometimes.

Good to have you on board!

Hey! thanks, its great to find a piece of that old community that I missed. I'm really excited to be part of it again. I've actually looked at some of the other projects and for some reason there is just a familiar feeling here.

I definitely don't want to pressure the dev's I'm really happy that there are people out there with the skills to make a game like this that have chosen to be a part of the development process. I am more than happy to wait even though I have to admit I haven't had this much of a feeling of anticipation in a long time.

You have more endurance than I.

I have given up gaming entirely until VO can figure out if they really want to make a game instead of another fancy map or one of the other three can release something at least semi-functional.

I know making an MMORPG is extremely difficult work, so I am trying to be patient, but this past three years has felt like thirty and I don't have that many decades left in me...

Considering that most MMORPGs take at least 5 years of development prior to release and another 2 years post release to find their "groove" (so to speak) if they're going to stick around for the long haul (and not get shut down within 1 year of release), I guess that means we're right about on track ... wouldn't you say?

For all the flack of the initial Wildstar launch, I am actually looking forward to its F2P conversion. They have taken the time over the year+ to gather back feedback, and tighten stuff up. In some cases totally redoing some systems, that whilst they were *good* were not "ideal".

But the thing is, no matter how much time you put into development, there will always be a feeling "If only I had more time, I could get it perfect". That is perfectly normal. Hell, not even the CoX developers managed to do it correct out of the box.

((queue the Incarnate system, and how slow the solo route was)).

How you react to the "mass public" over the beta testers is a good sign as well. Sometimes everything is "A OK" with the beta testers, but when it gets released to the masses?

REVOLT!

That can happen. So sometimes you have to scrap stuff/redo stuff/pull features at the last minute and redo them. And that can have even more of a longer wait for future content that might well rely on that initial framework in the first place....

Obligatory link to Refactoring Club for what ought to be obviously relevant reasons.

Oh agreed.

Sometimes you just get the evidence for how a system works only when it goes live. If you find that most people "skip" two out of the 4 stages of something (because it takes too long/faster to do it another way) then that shows a problem.

Look at CoX and its salvage drops... the *fastest* way to actually acquire some salvage was AE farming for tickets/Oroborus rerunning of content.[1]

That was because the loot didn't drop for the people who needed the stuff because they were too high level. It was *awesome* that you could rerun old content.

I just wanted to street sweep the mobs for the content without having to resort to the work around of Oroborus or AE (which pretty much every other MMO out there under the sun allowed you to do).

But that was because it was a *core* design fault (in my eyes) of that grey mobs gave you nothing.

Couple that with the "full salvage/enhancement/inspirations and you don't get that item type drop, even if it WAS better" didn't help in my eyes either.

Sure, it made it easier to "go run and arrest" and not bother about salvage, but on the flip side for *me* at least, I like being able to decide what I pick up/don't pick up/what I might want to replace out after defeating a mob.

[1] Notwithstanding the Market. That trumps all, but that stuff has to come from *somewhere* in the first place. And more than enough people said that they just farmed the AE for tickets to get the salvage that they needed....

Actually, yes. Right about on track.

Granted, the track is way too slow to make me happy, but that has zero relationship to making a quality game. Making a quality game is far more important than my short-term lack of a suitable software toy.

But hey, on the upside, I'm getting a TON of writing done! (^_^)V

MWM will have a much better idea of what they can do with the money they have and how much more they'll need to get extra stuff done. It would be cool if at least some of those stretch goals stayed on the table but I would be surprised if the goal posts did not change.

In the email about the Second

In the email about the Second Chance funding there was a suggestion section, I actually put in there that I hope they continue off where they were at on the stretch goal. As they said after the kickstarter was successfully funded(I know things have most likely changed since then) they said that in time with funds from the game they will implement them. But it's up to them, so we will see.

I just hope that before they do this Second Chance Funding happens, they make a lot of attempts at communication so everyone is aware that it is about to happen so no one misses it again and no excuses are made :p

This. Requesting more money will be a much bigger success when they can say "here's what we did with the initial money you all gave us."

Any news on the additional funding thing? I missed the kickstarter and have been missing CoH/V interminably.

Their replacement WildStar is a nice game, but just doesn't give me that 'super' feeling I had playing my L50+++ Heroic Brute.

All other games seem a pale comparison and more of just the same rigmarole, rehashed over and over with new skins and lore.

Even if I could just start my $15/mo subscription now, I'd do that. Especially if it might get me into the beta :)

The second round of crowdfunding is on hold until the avatar builder (AB) is available, which I expect means at least a beta build. MWM wants to have something to show before they invite people to give more money to the project.

The closest thing to a "rough date" I've seen any Dev mention around here for anything lately is "summer of this year". That's the extremely vague estimate on when the Avatar Builder app is supposed to be released, or at least go into public beta testing.
Of course I have no direct "inside track" connection to the Devs at MWM so I'd take that guesstimate on a release date to be just that - a vaguely educated guess based only on reading these forums semi-regularly.
You could always just assume that MWM is going to have something ready by say August and start saving for it regardless. Even if nothing happens you'll still have some money saved up which is never a bad thing to have.

Whatever works... ;)
Unfortunately we're just at a point where even if the Devs were silly enough to announce an exact fixed date for the release of anything the chances of them hitting that date (plus/minus a few days) is maybe 1% or less. It's just still too early for that kind of thing and probably will continue to be for some months to come.

I too only heard about this project well after the kickstarter had finished. I was not pleased that I missed out on contributing to this phenomenal effort nad would love a second chance at being a part (and I'll admit I'd like the perks that come with it, too). My question is; is there a mailing list I can sign up for? I don't get a lot of chances to check in here and would love to be kept up to date on development and future crowd-sourcing efforts.

I'm half tempted to make some

I'm half tempted to make some of my first offerings from my soap business donate to this project (and Make-A-Wish/Wounded Warrior after the Second Chance Kickstarter is over).

Khione, Boreal Princess of Phantoms/The Riveter, Hammer of Liberty/Rosa Amarillo, Sweet Belle with a Six-Shooter

I'd love to see MWM setting

I'd love to see MWM setting up a donation pool like Valiance Online...though at the moment I've not see a pre-alpha open yet for this game yet. I hope to be getting more financial control over my money so I can start donating to both.

Also, MWM should do something Valiance Online hasn't such as, allowing for stackable donations so you don't need to give the amount in one go to get a higher tier, but can build up to it.

Sigh... missed out on being able to join in on the Kickstart. I'm still hoping I can catch another round so I can join in!

I agree that MWM could do with focusing on developing the game a bit more before worrying about things like a second chance kickstarter BUT and a very big BUT there is NOTHING wrong with having something like the what Crowfall, Camelot Unchained & Star Citizen have there are many many members and future players who'd love to be able to support the studio and if its only off the back of concepts in the same vein as 'Star Citizen' then that's what we need to do a steady stream of income whilst focusing on gameplay will be JUST what this game needs!

Well, Valiance is holding a crowdfund, but not through KS or another tool, but through their own site.... I care less about the perks, and more about giving money to help them launch the game! I mean, sure, I WANT BETA and ALPHA privileges, but I want the game to launch more.
