Leave random chest rolls, so to speak, in the game itself, and not as cash purchases on the store.
Star Wars: TOR lets you buy a chest with a random selection from some defined subset of loot. E.g. one costume piece out of several sets unique to that chest type, and a chance at one of several mounts, and a chance at this or that.
Just make stuff directly purchaseable, thanks.
While such unopened chests can be sold on the market for a lot of in-game currency (thus providing an Eve Online Plex-like manner for the non-student population to buy large amounts of currency) it is roundabout.
I wanna buy stuff directly. If I want to buy in-game cash by way of reselling store items, I will do that directly.
This assumes any of this is in the pipeline. But yick, no $5 boxes with "a chance of one piece from one of several outfits you want". Or emotes or whatevers.

The very existence of the taunting tank irritates, for it requires idiotic AI that obeys the taunt.
As I understand it, there will be no RNG loot chest for sale in the store....this includes the keys to open them. I am too lazy right now to hunt for the link but I am sure you can find the Devs talking about it.
That's a WoW thing, buying keys with real money for certain in-game lockboxes, ugh as well.

I was going "why would someone want cinnamon buns on their chest?"

Everyone knows that cinnamon buns go to the rear, along with the hot crossed buns and buns of steel. That last...not so tasty (in the gastronomical sense).
(insert pithy comment here)
When did Blizzard introduce keys that you had to buy?
Sure, they have cosmetic pets and mounts that you can buy... but there was no RNG to get them.
Now I could possibly accept the WoW CCG being a form of lock box for pets.... but that is a totally different matter ( the key is having an active WoW account to redeem them on)
There is.a recent game with lockboxes where you have to buy a key with real money to unlock it.
Quite frankly, this is gambling, though I don't think government should get involved. Or maybe they should as it is kids.
Eta: I don't expect this here btw. Some day, somewhere...

I like cream cakes on my chests, with strawberries on top. Sometimes it's difficult to get those chests open, but keys and lock-boxes are not a solution!
I'm not sure if rolls should come into this question. They're often not pleasant, or in the wrong places. I'll make an exception for cinnamon-rolls, those are nice buns, but too much frosting spoils them.

Personally I don't mind the loot chests as long as the items are available from others that buy the boxes for in game money. Firefall works this way and the prices arn't that bad
Just keep your eye on the sky.
Net prices are too high. In SW: ToR, the rando chests are about $3.50 equivalent, and go for about 400 million unopened. And you need about 3 to buy the most desirable single outfit pieces.
I am willing to pay $12.95 for a great outfit, but not for one piece. If they wanna tap my greedy money, they need to sell the outfit directly. I don't want any damned "gameplay" for it. I am not a fracking grinder. Wth do they think I have a job for?
