Name: Event Horizon
Physical age: No definite age
Powers: Teleportation, does not eat or breathe, mastery of many forms of magic and science (rarely used), matter and energy absorption via armor, energy pulses via armor, gravitational pulling
Appearance: He has only ever been seen in a 7’ tall suit of black armor, with two glowing red eye slots, and glowing red runes on each piece it.
Origin:
Event Horizon didn’t have much of a childhood. He did not even really have parents. He came into existence as an amorphous blob of antimatter and dark energy, living in the space between universes. He was born with complete control of the only world he knew, and soon grew bored with it. He searched for something to do in the void for a long time, finally realizing that he may be able to find entertainment in looking in to the areas of pain that surrounded him. With his massive powers he watched and learned from the worlds around him, and learned much about the laws of magic and science in the worlds outside. He began to desire to control these interesting worlds which were so vibrant compared to his chasm between worlds. He tried to mimic the life and laws of the different worlds, but what he created were but frail reflections of what he had seen. He knew he would not be satisfied until he took control of at least one of these new worlds, so, with his powers over the void he crafted a suit of armor, a shield, and a sword out of a singularity he created, and pushed into the world that he had found most interesting out of all the ones he had watched. Immediately upon entering the world, he realized that he had made a mistake of astronomical proportions. Outside of void his powers quickly drained away, and he himself began to dissipate. Using the small portion of his powers that had remained with him, he carved magical symbols from a variety of different magic arts onto his armor to grant it enough stability and containment to keep it from devouring him, and the star systems around him. With the remnants of his powers completely focused on maintaining the stability of his armor, he began to search for a way to regain the power that he had lost.

not sure about the character's name... I wanted a name that had to do with a black hole but i'm not sure Singularity is the best choice. any ideas?

It seems like it would be a name or appellation given to him by others, since he needs no name for himself. He simply IS.
Throwing some ideas out... Dark Entropy, Gravitor, the Black Space Knight, Grav-Wraith... etc.

How about "[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Event_horizon]Event Horizon[/url]" or "Horizon". These are black hole related and reflect the divide between the various worlds of existence your cosmic character is dealing with.

Dark Space, Wormhole (If you're into that theory), Dead Star? Oh! Blackstar! But that's a Celldweller reference, I don't know if you've heard his stuff, very epic tracks and such. If you're interested, I'll PM you some of his tracks. It's great inspiration for superhero ideas.
Off the top of my head.
If you do change it, I'd love to take the name Singularity off your hands and use it for this Ultron inspired character I've been mulling over for CoT. Singularity is the term for the inevitable Artificial Intelligence movement where the machines gain true sentience and the name works well with the concept.

Thanks for the ideas. A couple of the things you guys said definitely make sense with the character. The name Event Horizon sounds like a good idea given his powers and background. I also see your point about him not really giving himself a name, and now that I think about it, he probably couldn't use an alternate name much in the first place. Thank you again for your help :)

The very phrase "Event Horizon" has always invoked in most people a sort of awe inspiring sense of mystery about one of the universe's greatest phenomena and I agree it sort of goes along with your character's "other worldliness" origins and how he broke through different universal boundaries. Your character is almost like a self-contained force of nature so it fits to be linked to something fundamental to how black holes work. It also sounds cool and edgy comic book wise. Have fun with it.

The [b][i]Event Horizon[/i][/b] nightclub is part of the Riverhaven Tower facility somewhere on the bank of the river (we're thinking the north side and west of Downtown). There is nothing connecting the place to the character, or to any other similarly-named character, of course. But, since it's been in use in CoH and CO for quite some time (and in my Venture City books, more recently), I thought I would add that to the mix for fun. You never know what will happen when someone says, "Event Horizon" and another person shows up at the wrong place. ;)
