I suggest we have a section devoted to fan fiction regarding the game and our characters. Or has this been suggested yet?

We already have it. Roleplay and Backstory.
One of the educational aspects of this project is the odd feeling of watching fanfic done about my own stuff. It's unsettling. Especially the parts when I get to think "But... but... you got it WRONG!!!", and can't say anything.

Fanfiction is somewhat different from roleplay though for obvious reasons (one person has all the control while RP has multiple people under some guidelines and a GM that enforces it)
Albeit fanfiction and RP have the same general rule that and that is ''Don't make your characters overpowered and manipulate the dialogue or in such a way that everything seems to revolve around them''. That usually leads to Mary Sues (or Marty Sues for the male characters) and no one likes Mary Sues. You have to be way more careful for common pitfalls as well in the case of fanfictions. It is so easy more exposition that is necessary or to get an idea, put it into place and then realize after the fact that the idea restricts your paths that you want to take your writing in. Self-inserts in fanfiction are a whole lot harder to pull off then RP from what I have seen. The lines that you can't cross get blurry at certain points.....
I am a fanfiction writer myself. Albeit I am a new one and there still is a slightly different learning curve to follow.....

I've found fanfiction in MMOs to generally be one person RP :p That usually doesn't go with the official canon.
Some do some don't. Some people will do what is called an ''Elsewhere'' fanfic where the try to worldbuild in a differet setting from a canon fanfic (So for example someome writes there character's struggles in trying to establish there hero/villain career in a different city other then Titan City). Those fanfics can be very interesting if done right of course. I imagine City of Titans will get a few of those. City of Heros never really got them because of the war walls.

Alot of people seemed to think the war walls were seperating different cities.
There were several parts of the writing that seemed to imply it. And it kind of makes sense: big cities tend to absorb smaller towns and neighborhoods into themselves. So New York City encompasses Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and so forth, even though they didn't start out as one city.

I always just thought it was trying to keep the threats like the Rikti, Mot, or the Devouring Earth in a centralized area. Admittedly we didn't know the state of the rest of the world but I imagine heroes, villains, and vigilantes would have an even worse time defending the entire planet from the Rikti then just one city. Considering what the Rikti where it's likely they had the numbers to perform a mass invasion across the world....
That's not even getting into the Devouring Earth or Mot. Even if the all the other cities around Earth had metahumans that were willing to fight it would still be chaotic and the loss would be so much more then what happened in Paragon.
