There is a project I want to do something I had in my mind for years. It started as a story, however I have a problem I can't write social interactions well. So I put it in that file that get filled with projects never finished.

Later I thought of adapting it to RP so here the idea.

The year is 2142 and interplanetary travel is possible. This is done but it's not really fast no warp drives, no hyperdrives. A trip from Earth to Mars takes three to six months and only done when the planets are in alignment with the launch window. Asteroid mining is a real thing and often done by convicted criminals. There an abandoned prison on the moon where they were sent before the asteroid mining project began. There still is no artificial gravity it, stations and ships use centrifugal force to simulate gravity.

Now for the important stuff. Mars! There a 30 year old colony on mars called Alpha City or Alpha Colony. Primary a mining operation it also has labs for study, primitive bacterial and fungus like fossils were found, but nothing beyond that. The Colony was build to hold 400,000 people but only now has about 150,000. Tourism and profits from Mars mining is little to none and the colony seems to be on the edge of Failure.

Now things I have planned to happen. First is a new Colony commander a fellow who was a War Hero, but also has a habit of speaking out to the public about internal company problems. If the company fires him he could use his Hero status to get more coverage about shady practice. So they got him a promotion and shipped him off to Mars.

Second major event (Want to RP it) Is the main Greenhouse gets bombed on the 30th year anniversary of the colony. Killing 127 people and destroying the enclosed ecosystem. This causes the Companies that run the Colony to declare it a full failure and plan to evacuate everyone. There a problem with that..

Mars Born people developed in a low gravity environment. This caused a number of health issues not a problem on Mars, but on Earth their bodies will struggle with the increased gravity and could cause harm and even death. The only place to put them then would be the abandoned prison colony on the moon.

Hope and fear. During this time a 22 year old Miner angry at having to leave the only world he ever known drove his drill into the mine wall and caused a collapse. This cave in opened a canyon filled with martian life forms. Note it's all SIMPLE life forms nothing more complex than a foot long fish creature. The ecosystem is feed by super heated vents at the bottom of an underground lake/sea the area's where there isn't water has fungus and mold growing some fungus plants growing two or three feet high. Enough biomatter to replace the oxygen loss from the destroyed greenhouse and then some. Of course if someone was willing to kill people to end the colony they wouldn't stop to destroy some alien life. The Commander then declares Alpha Colony Independence, the Companies send mercenaries to remove the Squatters so they can brake down the Colony buildings for resources (or they found out about the cavern of life).

Most of the colony underground with five major greenhouses and a few smaller ones.

So that's the idea. So would enough people want to join in to make this work? Got any ideas on expanding the concept and improving on it?
