I would love to say somthing here... oh good you have to listen.
OK. So i take my Character creation alittle far for some.
1. The look means everthing.
I mean everything. The look tells everyone what i want to say without saying it. It tells people what i do and why.
2. The look comes from a backstory. this should be up top.
The back story or the "why" is very important. it tell people what i went thru to get here and what im about to do to them.
"oh he uses a bow"
"i can see why he doesn't wear a shirt, this is going to hurt"
--
This part is where i get to my idea as it is important to me.
3. it has to make sense. Where does the mallet go when Bugs is done hitting the duck with it.
If my hero chooses to use 1 pistol. I believe you Have to put the gun somewhere. If i can't understand where the weapon comes from i see bugs bunny in a cape. For me everything about the character has to be explained.
this can be done a couple ways. Lets say you have a pistol.(i will not go into the question of ammo here)
1. a gun holster. on the chest or hip
2. gun held in sleeve. think of any kind of hold-out pistol.
**3. held in a different dimension or made from some control over a power.
This one would be linked to something else like type of powers or weapon theme.
---Fire powers shooting out of a gun for example. The gun can form from fire and used.
A cop has to pull his gun from somewhere. even if his gun comes from the sun god RA.
This can be done with every type of weapon. sword, club, axe, gun.
I say this because if you use magic or control elements its understood it comes from another plane of existence or made from thin air.
I would love the idea of having to put your weapon somewhere. and not just pulling out of your but pocket.
What do you think.
I type before i think
I agree with this. It could extend to other weapons, such as blades, maces, greatswords, and, well, mallets.
I never liked CoX's 'Let me pull this gun out of thin air' mechanic.
I don't believe it'd be too hard to code, but I don't know much about that sort of thing.
this would lead to other problems
See the other post about weapons in your hand and still in the holster. "sticky weapons" i think.
i know some people won't like this but it can be explained in other ways too.
you teleport your weapon in. This could be the main way of having your weapon come up. a small flash. and bamf there it is.
other ideas are things like T1000. "...knives and stabbing weapons" where the weapon was part of the body.
I type before i think
This is true. But the bamf and there it is could work. It'd be better than it just appearing, IMO.
Eh, it never bothered me, figured it was a limit on the system. However, if it can be done, great!
Maybe it's a matter of personal taste but I'd have personally preferred it 'just appearing.' It didn't take me long to ignore the fact the weapon appeared. Maybe I just subconsciously pictured the weapon on the back. The 'bamph in' would be a lot harder to ignore.
Maybe we'll be fortunate enough to have the option of all three choices. It appearing non visually, or with a graphics effect - or having a character pull it from a visible spot or holster on the body, if they can pull that off (or want to spend the time coding it).
Give people a choice when possible, maybe?

Yay more choices the better. I would like to see the weapon on the body or arrive in some way. but having the weapon pulled from something leads to other problems like what was talked about in another thread. having it not be in the holster.

Amazing man, this is one of the things i hate the most in other mmos.. from where this CLAYMORE comes???
was this Claymore in his pocket???
i am happy that you show us this..
the wepons MUST have hosters and bags....
I would not make it "you must have this" else we limit people who want to play a "chromatic beacon" who can "shape his mental force into various shapes and objects" using a "supertechnicalmacguffen bracelet."

The option rather than "must have" is probably best for flexibility to realize concept. Not being a programmer, my guess would be an option or two for a "holster" and then an option or two for "no holster", then let you pick. Kind of like different punch animations were in Martial Arts or Super Strength in CoH.

...wow, just. Just wow.

or like Thor, just stretch your hand out and it will just come to you. ;)
..but if your a Photonic powerset, your tech'y wristband gizmo can construct the hammer from light Photons. A tiny chip at the base of the skull transmits thought wireless to the wristbands on a encrypted frequency. (This can be exploited later on by an arch-nemesis of yours) ;)
and with each level you can upgrade the RAM capacity, so you can add more constructs.
Think of it like being Green Lantern, but without it having to look like a green light, but with color.. just a tad translucent. ;) Holodeck? :)
Of course, every time the light construct hits something, theres a half a second where it shimers out like the powers is drained but returns immediately.
And, lets not forget that a Photonic Defense powerset also exists thats a Belt. Every time someone tries to hit you, an Aura shimers out for half a second. ;)
Is that like Hammertime ?
