Does anyone actually know how far we are in development wise, what's done and what needs to be done and things like that?

One presumes that the Devs do. Kickstarter Update # 57 addressed this rather well, IMO, although it is a week out of date ^_^.

yeah I suspected they hit some of snag already which is normal straight after KS. Plan for the smoothness, be ready for snags. One of the reasons a while back I was wondering if planning for 2015 was a bit too tight of a planned deadline. Yeah I can see it with everything going perfectly smooth, but really how often does perfectly smooth happens? Barely a month out of the gate kickstarter ended they already hit a seemingly unexpected although small snag. And more than likely they will have some , some probably bigger down the road.
But I suspect as long as they keep in touch, even with the boring ugly, "I don't think you all want to see this" "In the kitchen,' "non dramatic" "routine "coding boring nerd stuff, then they will be ok even if they run over the deadline. Remember more people than they think love to see how the sausage is made. In fact some are dead excited because they always wondered what it would be like to see actually see and watch a game being made. Keep up the communication and I can bet even if the deadline is missed by two years, many wont givea crap and will understand as long as communication happens. Which so far, they been decently good, one month after kickstarter update is pretty straight. But on the flip side, go radio silence due to thinking people not interested in the "boring stuff," one month slips by then two than three than people start to get antsy, especially if delays are happening and stuff don't seem straight forward, then missing deadlines become a big deal.
Communication is key even if it's sometimes "oh crap mess hit the fan" or even mundane "well folks, still trying to get the model to jump right." better than nothing until people start wondering what is going on. So far again, just in case it was missed, as some tend to get tunnel vision and see one thing and over react and ignore everything else that was said, so far they are doing good job and a hell of a lot better than before in the beginning where it seemed no one said anything until people started to wonder and ask "hey, you heard anything with what is going on lately?"
I would love to see some kind of dev digest as well. Sometimes I just want to read actual statements form the folks in charge.
