During the day some live normalish lives. School, day job, whatever. And then when there's trouble they change and go save the day. Then night comes along and they are out on patrol. They eat up a great deal of energy running and fighting. Probably don't even get a chance to go to bed until like 3 or 4 in the morning. Then have to be up and ready for work and being as they are the main character they are always late to work. Then have to be awake again all day and night. Are these people chugging energy drinks and eating energy bars all day? Are they hyped up on caffeine? Some heroes don't need rest or anything. Like Superman just needs to fly to the side of the planet with sunlight and hang out there for like 10 mins and hes all fully recharged and ready to go. But what about the others. I don't think villains really have that problem. They probably sleep in late. Have a nice meal. Maybe attend a board meeting for their latest plot. Go shopping. Take a nap. And then suit up and cause chaos at night.

I would hope any with a science background wouldn't. They would realise that they are packed full of stuff that is not really good for you are well as stuff that is.
Just look at aspartame that many contain... GMO bacteria poo... yummy, and then go on to look up that stuffs effects on your body. I am sure that they will keep to a good organic whey protein drink and jucie lots of fruit and veg to get those nutrients into their bodies faster and eat lots of meat and eggs... from an organic source, slow reared grass fed animals have a better life and produce better meat to start with..... Can you tell I have had a operation on my bowels and had to look more closely at what I eat and what goes into food hehe.
I am sure they all have their strategies in game though, that's the beauty of fiction, if you want a junk fueled super then you can write that in and explain it away with a mutant metabolism or they absorb something in the atmosphere or solar rays, or have super endurance, or are trained from birth so can run for days etc etc etc. That's half the fun of these types of games rather than be generic warrior number 54673 you actually can write up a really meaningful back story and explain why they can do these things.
Oh boy. Have you people learned nothing?

Joe Insanity starts his day with a full pot of coffee for breakfast. Coffee! The breakfast of Armed Vigilantes!
Joking aside, I don't see why the average super-powered individual wouldn't partake in a little liquid energy, unless they are immune to the effects.

The Titan Legacy - Defender of the Inner Flame
I've had characters whose source of power sustains them and those whose powers cause undue drain on them:
- one who astrally projects when sleeping, his spells are a form a "dreamcrafting" -- as he alters his 'dream' he alters the world he's projected into. His patrols end with him usually feeling as well rested and invigorated as any dreamer-- even the injuries he has don't follow him into the real world... though the psychological trauma periodically comes back in flashbacks during the day that can tear him out of his real world environ and leave him reliving the events over and over.
- another spellcaster, though, had an immense knowledge of spellcrafting, but incredibly deep "control issues" - she couldn't stand the sensation of the magical energies flowing through her, and the fear and discomfort it caused led her to block its passage. Now the spells that she casts draw entirely off of her... she metabolizes mana, in a way, burning energy faster than any athlete, with powerful, sudden spells leaving her much like an athlete reaching total muscle failure. Ritual magic - subtle draws over a long time- she can handle, but the kind of off-the-cuff spellcasting she'd need when crimefighting run the risk of destroying her if done too often. She consumes thousands of calories a day but almost always remains tiny.
For my new "normals" (people that want to help, but have no power other than their training) I like to play that they constantly ARE wearing themselves down too much- consuming energy drinks and powerbars to keep moving because they can't rest until problem x is solved... and then there's problem y.... Learning to balance your own needs and limitations with the needs of others is a lesson all of them need to learn... and each will find a different answer .
FREEEEEM!

When other energy drinks just don't do the job, reach for the drink with those tasty radioactive isotopes. This stuff will make you feel like an atom bomb and make your waste glow brighter then the East Coast.
