Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

CoT Micro Fan Comic: Hurricane Atlas

Well, I couldn't keep away. The art has exploded inside of me. I will begin work on a 10 page comic about the destruction of and rebirth of Titan City. I hope you will all enjoy it.

-Tigs

UPDATE: For ease of reading I'll post the pages here as I finish them.

Well, I have a few bad

Well, I have a few bad thumbnails, and a one sentence synopsis of what happens on each page. I suspect the reason the hurricane did more damage than the heroes could prevent was some shadowy mastermind boosted the destructive power of the storm. So the run down is something like this:

Page 1- The hurricane approaches the city.
Page 2- The city is hit by the hurricane.
Page 3- Heroes with weather powers gather to fight the hurricane.
Page 4- The heroes succeed in creating a buffer zone for the city.
Page 5- A shadowy overlord has his minions fire a beam weapon into the storm.
Page 6- Power surges into the storm and the heroes are struck down by super lightning.
Page 7- In the aftermath of the storm the city is in ruins. People are dead.
Page 8- The surviving heroes emerge and rescue civilians, and some civilians rescue heroes.
Page 9- Heroes help rebuild the city and the scene focuses on the new city hall.
Page 10- The surviving heroes are in front of the phoenix monument in from of city hall. Captioned, "We are Titans!"

That's what I have come up with so far. However, suggestions are always welcome.

CR: The volunteer IP release

CR: The volunteer IP release is only for the work that is used in the game. Just posting here on the forums is not releasing anything to anyone. As a matter of fact, I'm sure that this only covers official work (unless someone posts something that leads to something official or an offer to join the team specifically).

That is if that is what you are in a quandary about. We are thoroughly enjoying the fan art being posted.

Oh, speaking on that note; I will need 4 weather powered heroes for page 3. Just post a body shot of your character here. The first four to do so are in the book! (Note: You do get killed by the super-lightning...it's the price for fame.) I'll post more hero opportunities as the pages develop. (Sorry villains, there is only room enough for one mysterious evil mastermind and his minions in this story.)

I'll give it a shot. For this character interpretation, I'm going to have to use artistic license. My drawing of the character maybe very different. But I'll try to keep it as close to the source material as possible.

Mel goes by 'Sound Storm".... her family controls all 4 elements, but only 2 at a time. So if it was weather causing problems it would be wind/water control.
if you want to actually nuke mel instead of mels grandfather for the funsies.. just reference the most recent dA hero post I made. Thats her general concept. A slight tan quality to her skin tone. Very tom boyish lean figure. Long stark black hair.

Not sure why the colors aren

Not sure why the colors are so dark, now... but the torso that seems to be a super dark purple (or the odd color of black :p) is meant to be a sort of dark burgundy/maroon.... think red wine. The yellow isn't mean't to be "gold"... but more of a pale yellow/sand color. eye's should be more orange and the haircolor is supposed to be more "medium, woodsy brown" rather than almost black...
(and, yes, I realize you probably won't be doing the coloring any time soon, but hopefully more information is useful in the long run.)

Powers:
Element is a gestalt of sentient and independently mobile molecules. She is able to disengages excess sentient molecules out into the air or soil, interacting with the local environment and climate to produce weather-like events. She is able to slow down, excite and polarize molecules to create wind, rain, ice, lightning, and even lift solid rock into the air. She could create fires if necessary, but feels that doing so is a tacky, easy and inelegant use of her abilities.
(I.E.: anything weather-like (ice/lightning/ maelstrom/possibly some fire.)

Appearance:
Similar to characters such as the Martian Manhunter or Green Lantern, Element creates/augments her appearance. She can excite the molecules of most clothing, changing shape and color to varying degrees. Her powers also have a dramatic effect on her appearance. The more she attempts to affect the local environment (the more of her molecules she releases into the surrounding atmosphere), the more washed out/pale her appearance becomes. As a “hero” she often appears nearly blonde with glowing hot copper colored eyes, while otherwise She appears to have brown hair and eyes.)
at the limits of her powers, she can appear "fuzzy" or literally see-through around the edges of her body (hair, appendages, etc)

Hope that helps, Can't wait to see the final product!

That was it yes. I am considering volunteering but most of the art I've done has been of other peoples characters (contest prizes, 606 forumite birthdays, hundred posts kiribans etc) and I wouldn't want to step on any toes or worry about who owns what every time I go to post some fanart.

On topic though I love the idea of forumite cameos Tiger. I always tried to work those in whenever possible. None of my main heroes were storm based but congrats to the chosen 4 and I'm looking forward to seeing how this front develops (get it storm front? heh). =p

*grumble* Where were you when I was headhunting artists for Lethal Comics?

Short version: I was run over by a semi truck. I got better.

You artist types were always flighty-- don't tell me, the semi incident was "artistic expression" :P Whatever you do, don't give up the art. While I've been idle, I've ressurrected my site as an Lethal Comics archive and half the artists I worked with are not drawing any longer :(

There has been much talk

There has been much talk about doing an 'official' CoT webcomic, but as you can probably guess the problem has been finding the time to do it without pulling people off of working the actual game.

Well, if I remember (you'd have to ask him) I think Tigs has some pro credits under his belt from a while back.... he might be interested in a job ;)

No, it wasn't artistic expression. I started drawing comics in 1990 professionally. My first work was published by Greater Mercury Comics. Don't worry if you haven't seen it, it was really bad. In 1991 I was the assistant inker to the Marvel inker Mike Witherby. In 1995 my friend Josh Diffey and I self published The Wild comic. However, the late 90's were tough because Marvel and DC were no longer accepting open submissions. I submitted during conventions but one submission a year didn't get me any visibility to the editors. In 2002 I was rear-ended by a full sized semi truck on the 210 freeway in Irwindale and was medivaced out by helicopter. I had been driving a Geo Metro. After the accident I could not draw. In order to keep active and awake for more than a few hours I played video games to rehabilitate my mind. I was on the City of Heroes boards a year and a half before the game entered beta and it became a part of my life. In 2009 I had a break through and could draw again. At that time I was Beta testing Champions and met great people like GhostHack and Steamtank. And now I can pursue my dreams and my love of comics by drawing again and hopefully add something to The City of Titans.

No. I believe he was serious.

EDIT: Yeah while I was debating what to say I see Tiger decided to share for himself. I wasn't going to ask but I understand a little of what that's like I had a bad accident myself that found me flat on my back with two busted legs for almost a year. I also lost a close family member shortly after. The game and 606 forums were a Zod send for working through the low points and holding off depression while I wondered if I would walk normally again. City of Heroes was so much more than a game to a lot of us flighty creative types.

Well okay that got a bit deep there... quick something to lighten the mood of this thread a bit!

Uhh... wait a Geo Metro. Seriously?!?
Did you at least get the 5¢ back from recycling? Ha!

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS4. There are four layers. The pencil-black and white layer set on normal. A layer for underpainting set to multiply, to put in the flats and blends without disturbing the pencils. Next is the overpainting set to normal for shading, tinting and highlighting. Lastly, is the effects layer, which I did the bazillion lines for the rain effect on.

To get the fade I used a light blue, masked out the background and set the fill for 25%, and then I did the same for the midground. The light coming up from the buildings used the same process. I masked off a section of buildings and with 10% transparency did a few passes with a large soft brush.

If I'm working an area a great deal, I'll save a separate mask layer. I did that for the sky in the first panel. Other than than I try to use the fewest layers as possible because of the memory it uses and time it adds to the project. The great thing about Photoshop is that I can airbrush the smallest detail in an eyeball. The worst thing about Photoshop is that I can spend hours airbrushing the smallest detail in an eyeball.

Nope, I'm not loafing. :) The next two panels with take sometime. Even though, I've done the main frame, I have to draw the reflection in the glass for the display window and the two news screens for the TVs.

Tiger, have you read the KS

Tiger, have you read the KS update that detailed the story of the Atlas Hurricane? I read your OP and thought 'damn, hope he didn't finish the book first!' Apparently not even close. I've copy pasted the relevant part, it's not that long.

"Hurricane Atlas changed all that.

Most of you will remember the hurricane that devastated Titan City in 1998. The hurricane was originally a natural occurrence, but the villain Cumulus Rex exacerbated the problem. He meant to hold the city for ransom, using machinery to turn the ordinary hurricane into a supremely destructive storm from which he grew stronger. The city’s heroes rose to the occasion, protecting lives and property across Titan City. Meanwhile, a force of heroes, some who until that moment had been villains, challenged Cumulus Rex in his lair. We know them today as the “Atlas 33”; those who held the line the longest against the murderous Rex. That battle resulted in the death of Titan City’s favorite son, American Star, after more than a century of crimefighting.

American Star’s former protege, Harriet E. Ross, took up his sword and carried on his mantle as the heroine Anthem. She soon founded a new team of Paragons, carrying this hallowed name into the new century. At present, the superpowered community is larger, more varied, and more diverse than ever. Hundreds of crimefighters, criminals, and other superbeings of every imaginable description still operate here, and their numbers only continue to increase. The superpowered community seems to have adopted Lawrence’s words for its own: anyone can make it in Titan City."

Hope this helps - or, if you did read it, hope you appreciate the thought :D

Thanks Shadow Elusive, I did

Thanks Shadow Elusive, I did read it and I'll be putting in my version of Cumulus Rex and his minions. (With Mikenovember's permission I'm going to use his Storm Texture for Cumulus Rex. It will look like a combination of smoke and a plasma globe inside a glass body.) However, I focus on the destruction and recovery of the city, and not the Atlas 33. That would take a few books to do it justice. I'm sure the official City of Titans comic will go into detail about it and the aftermath. I just want to set the mood, and share with my fellow Titans. Oh, I did mention that the last page will be a splash page of heroes in front of the Phoenix Statue and that I'll be making call outs for heroes as I go along. Steamtank, Kaos Kitteh, GhostHack, and Fireheart have let me use their elemental powered heroes to fight the storm. As I said, I'll be giving more shout outs as soon as I get all the details down. :)
