Mogul Ideas

So I know there are quite a few of you out there who got the Mogul add-on, and I wanted to see what all your ideas are, or bring up new ideas for those who don't know what they want, who me? Couldn't be :p

So I've heard some really good ideas, such as a tree house, volcano, clock tower, roman colloseum, and just a regular ole skyscraper.

There has been talk of underwater capabilities, so that could possibly lead to underwater palaces!

So let me hear your ideas!

Unfortunately I couldn't

Unfortunately I couldn't afford to be a mogul.. but I love the idea of forming a part of the game mythos that will live on.

Well.. Refuse to admit it I

Well.. Refuse to admit if I have went to mogul in the last few minutes.. but have friends who have for sure..and the original poster might have talked to one since you mentioned one of my ideas, Still I've have talked out a few ideas with those Coh allums, my own one is as follows, version .0005, rough draft.. VERY subject to change. in short a mixture of clocktower and an art deco style skyscraper...but thats hardly enough... what follows is the history of the building..and few details as well

The Last Stroke Building

The Last Stroke Building(AKA The Final Plunge building) stands impressively on the skyline, Designed and erected in the early twenties as the headquarters for United Timepieces, an international conglomerate industrial clockmakers and allied trades. Fittingly for its initial owners it was in part a clocktower with an enormous glass clock face covering the eastern face at the 30th storymark to the 32nd story mark with the smaller floors above being designed as a gorgeous art deco spire resembling the Chrysler building.
//insert new owners/criminals names)

During the following decades thought the building has slowly fallen on hard times, United Timepieces fell into bankruptcy in the late 50's, providing an initial shock to the locals, while the local neighborhood visibly fell into decline the Last Stroke building suffered a more hidden decay, the new ownership started to wring whatever they could from the edifice of the building, using quasi legal methods, intimidationt, and heavy corruption to exert the influence on the surroundings like no gangsters or gangs could conceive of, acting like vampires to drain the city folk of what they held dear. The building itself became more a fortress within, bulletproof windows and so on. At this point the building also had its basement expanded and fortified in response to a 1990 assault on the still iconic building by a small strike team of anarchists including powered beings.. While little damage was done the owners started to plan for ways to protect themselves from those they had been lording over, including preemptive infiltration and hiring agents to damage and destroy expected threats before they became dangerous.. Careful never to get their fingerprints caught on the evidence the Committee added fear and terror to the ruthless subjugation of those under its whim.

Much of that changed on Halloween 2002 when the previous owner committed suicide by leaping off the 43thrd floor balcony..which led to the buildings unofficial nickname. A handful of other controlling members bodies were found in not to subtle places around the district, there was little crying. A new owner had been willed the building and assets in full and came into control, quickly surprising the jaded population by releasing the vise on the locals. The asserts of the previous owners were used to help finance and bankroll new construction nearby, in addition to repairing and modest expansions of the roaring twenties era building. The subterranean levels were converted to a subway stop to help folks get around...(However it seems there is a vastly larger underground structure than a simple subway station would entail) Crime in the vicinity shifted in a curious way, while headline stealing crimes shot up with extravagant heists being the order of the day, low grade crime seemed to vanish over night, at least compared to the rampant nature of the previous decades.

Tenets within the Last Stroke building enjoy a near immunity to the law of Titan city, however, the laws within the building are subject to what is known as the code.. a set of unwritten laws
The most well known tenet of the building has taken its name from the buildings nickname, the Final Plunge Gym. A upscale and modern gym that covers nearly the entire ground floor with a handful of small other stores that seem rotating in and out. The gym has a reputation of being exceedingly rough, largely undeserved because the manager keeps things “Civil” or else

There is little doubt the gym functions as a base of operation and hub for many criminal enterprises within the city. However much to folks surprise the FPG has also developed into a unofficial demilitarized zone in the conflict between law and crime. Powered beings of all types are told in no uncertain terms that coming to blows or causing trouble will end up with the offenders being ruthlessly crushed, and if in a bad mood into a small cube by cities junkyard. The buildings security has many layers and politely declines to allow the police admission while on duty.

This should NOT be thought of as some sort of sanctuary though, and its been forgotten many times by criminals of the city trying to hide while being under hot pursuit. The mysterious owner often will have those who cause turmoil to be tossed out with excessive force, again the ghoulish joke will add about the mercy of it being “often in one part”. It is rather common for the cities police to pick up coffee and doughnuts as they wait outside the gym to see if their quarry will end up being tossed out in surprise.

In the end, the enigma's that still engulf the LSB have provided no end to the goulish stories and rumors that resound thanks to the sordid past.

Additional, 11/5
The clock itself is worthy of special note, initially conceived as the centerpiece of United Timepiece's 100th anniversary it became obvious that their was no proper place to install, the roaring twenties attitudes solved this problem simply, they would build a great structure to house their pride. Construction was somewhat slow and did not make the anniversary it that gave the more resembling big ben than a common timepiece, The original clock faces were heavily influenced by the British icon. It is one aspect of the building that never went into decay despite the failing fortunes of the building itself..The inner workings are quite complex, huge metal gears keep the clocks hands moving with precision

Most recently early December 1999 a flying cape battle ended up nearly destroying the iconic clock, smashing through three of the four faces during a thrilling fight amongst the gears and machinery of the tower proper, The three missing faces were only repaired after the newly “Civic” owner came to power a few years later, restoring, leaving the original face with its simple translucent glory while replacing the other three faces with a new strain of shatter proof stained glass to great detail(and likely expense)
//placeholders follow, just ideas, hardly set in stone\\
The north clock face has a phoenix motif, somewhat stylized, surrounding it are other symbols of change and rebirth, fitting the buildings new purpose quite well.

The west face is the original, still simple, elegant and striking like the famous Big ben

The east face centers around nature, flowers, a stream, with a playful otter taking the center stage, the symbolization is for the importance of nature and letting the playful nature escape even from the drudgery of city life

The south face has a white tiger face snarling and gnashing on a generic flag((might drop that, though its likely to be involved in my iconic icon), ringing the tiger are symbols of conflict, military and otherwise. The reasoning behind this face was to show the importance of such things in life, and in some ways to show respect

11/7 Additional
(forgot to post yesterdays as well, so double dip today)

Watch and Tock

The Last stroke building was designed for mostly office space initially, and the lower dozen floors are much wider than than the tower proper as such... this provided the space for the 13th floor plaza, and two remarkable statues as well, The plaza effectively is on the roof of the 12 floor offices at the north and south wings of the building. The centerpiece of the plaza's are two 15 foot bronze statues of (Otters?Lions?) sitting against the building's tower holding oversized watches on their bellies. The statues have been named “Watch” for the north and Tock for the southern, both are quite similar. Around the statues are a dozen tables on each side to let the workers and civilians enjoy bright days with a good view of the surrounding city while enjoying a good meal amidst the statuary large and small and the various tastefully designed greenery.

Ownership
There has always been a mystery about the true powers that work behind the FPB, but the public face seems to be a (not sure who/what I want to have in yet) who speaks to the public in flamboyant ways on special occasions, spreading his own somewhat cockeyed view of the world. A populist by nature. Most assume this person is actually a figurehead, and the true power behind the the Last Stroke buildings owner is hidden away somewhere. Still he makes wonderful headlines and press.

“Justice over Law”. Is perhaps one of the best known phrases bandied about the building. While it still rankles a few people, the surrounding neighborhood has taken it to heart, having seen the way law can grind the very soul when wrongly used. Because of the investment and rebuilding of the district around the building he has enjoyed a considerable popularity, High ranking members of the new ownerships regime are well regarded in the community even if technically outlaws, at least one member is suspected to be a notorious art thief on the “run” from Interpol.

Above the great clock are floors that are highly restricted, only enhancing the mystery. Most assume they are the private residences of the new owner and his most trusted underlings. To those who managed to gain access to the proper “Penthouse” levels they will find simple elegance on displace, smooth stone accents, high ceilings, a luxurious place for every need. One way large deco style glass windows, balconies and so on. Along with the slightly out of place huge statues of various animals flanking the the aforementioned balconies(used to hide the installed high tech weaponry

////Since i'm an unstoppable altaholic I've made the base somewhat flexible, but the initial SG concept I'd like use is a variation on the Guild of Calamitous intent(Venture brothers), Organization of true villains operating on a set of rules to keep collateral damage to a “proper level”, and indirectly accepted by the authorities as a brake on more loose cannon types. Using the alignment system discussed earlier I'd say High honor, low law, and middle violence

Spire

TLB's Spire speaks of the art deco design of the roaring twenties with all its heart, gold accents on jade green glistening base white base, a mixture of triangular windows and curves on the facade that hides the chamber within, resulting in a look of a half dozen crowns on top of one another. Reaching up to the heavens where

Atop the spire is one more interesting thing of note the heavy duty antenna complex was also designed to be a mooring mast for zeppelins and balloons, akin to the Empire State Building's initial plans the LSB being far lower meant the winds were not as problematic. While techincally any airship or hot air balloon can moor itself up...without proper invitation there is little to do... which brings us to the 40th floor lounge

The real reason the mooring mast is still used is to allow the elite and personally invited people to attend and meet the mysterious //owner// in style. Villain or Hero there is something dramatic about a lighter than air ship slowly coming to dock at the peak of the clock tower. The idea of circumventing the building's security in this manner was quickly abandoned after a “tragic” attempt during the sixties.. The show of a docking is rather thrilling though still attracts gaggles of shutterbugs, telescope owners, and so on who yearn to get a look at a famous hero or villain, ((the upper floor windows are all quite effectively one way glass afterall). While the Final Plunge Gym is neutral ground for the workaday villains and law the lounge is the place where illustrious heroes and dastardly villains can negotiate in private. In a strange way this has led a much more “Civilized” way to solve big crime problems. The phrase “You must leave your foe a face saving out, forcing them into no win situations might solve one problem, but rob you of the chance to solve the future ones. Sometimes that out is going down in STYLE.” Is one of the credo's of the exclusive lounge. It goes by the official Name of “Armistice”. And has often lived up to that name.
The lounge itself is plush, comfortable and equipped with all the niceties of a modern living space, a handful of private quarters that are tight but comfortable in case visitors need more than a day to sort out their problems, The views are wonderful, the drink is free, and the food is good, weapons aren't allowed of course.. //owner// will joyfully tell the tale of the last person to try it finding themselves strapped to the clocks minute hand. Above the lounge are apparently the private quarters of the //owner\\

I'm still trying to decide

I'm still trying to decide what I'll finally request, but one of my thoughts was an abandoned subway station, suitable for urban vigilantes and the like.

I am going to ask for a

I am going to ask for a church, cathedral, or monastery. My character is half angel, so it kind of fits. Ive also got a hero that I would like to resurrect in CoT what was a mutated tiger. So I am thinking a hunchback of Notre Dame kind of setup, also in a church. If I ever get around to forming an SG, I am looking to make a warriors of the light theme, or misunderstood mutant theme.

@Leo, Wow, I really like that

@Leo, Wow, I really like that backstory for the building and the building itself sounds like it will be awesome, I can't wait to see the finished product!

@Charlie, with the character you are that will be a perfect fit!! And to the mutated hunchbacked tiger, ring those bells!!! :p And also, there are quite a few SG's already forming so you could always band up with them as a fellow member or future Coalition! :)

I'm excited to see the rest

I'm excited to see the rest of the story! I have a backstory, but it's more of a character backstory that is the reason why my building will be built
