Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.
It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.
To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

So I have really enjoyed chatting with people on the Kickstarter campaign and as it's coming to a close, realizing that the conversation is going to need to continue here for the next couple years. I'd like to check in here to keep in touch with people, and maybe even volunteer for the project.
It will be great when all of us can play together when the game takes off! Thanks Bruce for organizing us here!

Hey team, just checking in. Villain base sounds like a good idea. Immolation certainly sounds like a good name, nice dark theme possible there, dark flames with some some glowing embers and maybe a silhouette of a wing perishing in the background comes to mind. I like the idea of what we have. Kind of like the Avengers of Titan City. Each of us having an alt we dedicate to the cause. While my main will be running my own small Sg I would love to have one of my top alts onboard.
Regarding leadership, I guess it comes down to dedication and time. A lot of you have been quite active on the KS thread there and I'd say many of you would do great running things. If you need a hand doing stuff, organising anything at all, I'd be happy to help. I work a lot but I'd certainly up for anything in game, whether it's badge hunting or base building or story writing or build second-opinioning :)
Anyway, looking forward to seeing all of you in game. You should be able to find me by my namesake: @Ariad.

Guess I better start hitting the gym if I'm going to be wearing spandex again !!
For the weapon, does it actually need to be a "weapon" at all? It's just a prop, yea? So personally I think it could work for everyone if it is something simple, like a Gem/jewell... in the shape of the Phoenix Rising symbol perhaps?
I'm gathering that this prop can be "attached" to things? like a gun, blade, necklace, bracer/bracelet, crown?
And personally, I would call it "The Heart of the Phoenix" or "The Phoenix Heart"
*EDIT*
Since the emblem kind of looks like a heart, ya know :)
Also, Thought I'd come in and introduce myself... then I got sidetracked reading through the thread, haha!
I'm D. A. Cross - CEO of Phoenix Rising! I was one of the last lucky few able to throw in during the last minutes of the KS. Considering that I'm currently unemployed, I had a heck of a time scraping together the measly $30 I was able to contribute... but I'm hoping to offer a substantial amount of "time" here and do what I can to help this project along. With any luck, that will be more beneficial!
Introductions aside, am I the only one who thinks "Phoenix Rising" sounds like it could double as a secretive villain plot or organization. The Hellfire Club comes to mind when I think about it, perhaps because they were obsessed with controlling the power of the phoenix force, but the name itself brings all sorts of interesting plots to mind.
One such scenario going something like this:
"A corrupt corporation conspiring to cascade the city with fire and rebuild it from the ashes, the start of a new world.. the public call it the "Phoenix Rising Initiative", as far as they know... it's research into a new medical technology that will change the world. Well, it's going to change the world. Just not in the way the world expects. Project: Phoenix as it's known inside the corporation, has another agenda entirely."
In any case, I think it would be beneficial to all having the group comprised of both heroes and villains, and anything in between. No sense in splitting us all up more than necessary. It's a common interest thing, we all want Titan City to prosper in our own way... whether it prospers under the iron fist of justice or tyranny... at least it will prosper :)

I really like how you incorporated the Phoenix into your logos @Ebon!!
So I drew up a rough sketch real quick of my idea about the RLW, bear in mind that I am not an artist by any means, but say you would have the phoenix as a shoulder pet and when you went to attack it would fly down and attach to your arm and form whatever attack you were, such as a sword, gun, bow, magic staff, so forth and so on. I drew up what a bow and sword could look like, where the Phoenix tail was the sword and it's wings were your shield(even if it's just cosmetic).
But anywhere, here's my sketch, merely for concept and not art! lol

@Xander, I really like that backstory!! The fact that we all are coming from the same place, the place is a business comprised of both heroes wanting to save the world through this medicine, villains who want to use it for evil, and the middlemen who just want to make a paycheck! I think that's a really good idea that would keep a common theme that allows heroes, normies, and villains to coincide

From a suggestion earlier about the statue and who the hero behind the building is, I wrote a story linking Per Ignim to Hurricane Atlas. Not a major part of it, like the 33, but he did make a change in at least a few people's lives as he aided in the evacuation. Trying to decide whether or not I want to post it in this thread. It weighs in at a light 2900 words in 3 chapters.
What say you all? Should I create a new thread for that or just toss it in here?
This post means nothing. I'm testing to see if div embedded CSS works in this forum :)
And the answer is no, it doesn't :(
Thanks @Kiyori :)
So I was browsing around images and things looking for inspiration and I came across this and thought... what a coincidence, this is almost exactly what I was thinking with the "heart of the phoenix" for the RLW... not only does it look great as a necklace, it would make a pretty kick a** sword hilt... or inset for a pistol handle.. maybe a crossbow, and it would fit on a glove/bracer. personally think it could also work as a belt buckle with attached loincloth (the tail):

also, I know we've got an SG emblem but it was also mentioned a few times about making it more vertical and less horizontal... so here, a few versions of Phoenix Caduceus... I'm partial to #1... it just oozes "phoenix rising" 8D

Take a look, my friends. No, it's not long, but then it doesn't need to be. Enjoy :)
Finally got my account set up.Just stopping by to say Hi
It's tragic. Possibly as tragic as Tragic Thistle.
That said, read the stuff on text formatting as there's a lot of markup that does things you'd normally need embedded CSS for (like float:right;).
Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...
Already sent my email to Bruce, but thought I'd make my first forum post here. I'm the Hermit of Phoenix Rising.
Like I've read from a few others, I always played CoH either solo or in small Friends and Family SGs, so I'm looking forward to trying my hand at being part of a bigger group and attempting to be sociable. I love the vibe from the community during the KS, and can't wait for more updates on the game!
@Lin Chiao Feng, Yes, I saw that, but the reason I tried adding CSS was because they don't have a center option. Not a big deal, but I like using it for certain things when I write. That being said, I doubt I will be putting much of my writing up here, just saying.
thanks for the tip, though.
Welcome to any new people I may have missed! :) Send me an email so I can keep track of all of us if you haven't already: PhoenixRising@gmail.com. I had a thought about Phoenix Rising, Inc.
The Atlas 33 were a group of heroes and villains, much like people here in PR. Story wise the corporation could have been started as a joint effort between heroes and villains in the euphoria following defeating Cumulus Rex. As time went on, and villains again began to feel constrained to be good and in fact started...diverging the corporation developed a sort of shadow side.
There are those that are still devoted to the support of society, but they are not the only people who reside in PR, Inc.
There are those who feel that it's time the phoenix started destroying those in it's path and taking it's place at the pinnacle of crime in Titan City and possibly the world.
Or the true villains never intended to do good - in the crisis, they were acting
in what they saw as their best interests. They helped fund the corporation afterward,
to gain hooks into the do-gooders - access to information, building up background to
betray those that can't be turned, siphoning off technology, etc
Well, CoT is all about creating your own story...so I'm sure that there are as many stories about who they were as there are people in PR. One could easily be the redeemed villain fallen back to his old ways. Another could be the self interested villain hiding in plain sight and robbing the company blind. A third could be the hero corrupted by the fame and fortune that PR has gained him.
Speaking of numbers of people in PR, we have about 150 people on the email list now. That's awesome! :) Only a fraction of that in the Facebook group, though, so if you want to be in that group, send me some email with a link to your FB page and I'll add you as a friend, then add you to the group (like Winter said): PhoenixRisingSG@gmail.com

I like this. Having already gained the trust of the heroes, alternate lines of self-interest began forming for some... for others, they were there from the beginning. Shadowy figures lying in wait to fulfill their hidden agendas and seize control of an extraordinary asset... the entire Phoenix Rising Initiative.
It's as the old saying goes... "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer"

I like the mixed concept, and it wouldn't be the first time an organisation or movement was corrupted from within; it's virtually a given in comics. However, I'd prefer if we made it as flexible as possible for RP'ers (I'm not one but I always maintain a conceptual story to help 'flavour' the character).
Some thoughts: we expand beyond just a business concept into an 'organisation' or we could borrow from the social media craze of today, and call it a 'social project' or collaboration. It provides room for a business or corporation but also a far right-wing eco-activist group, or a mystical order and whatever else might fit players' backstories. The actual members of the Initiative would then be the core group of representatives for each element of the larger organisation. You'd never know if that rep was the stand-in/lackey/overlord for a large 1000-strong order of fanatics bent on summoning Jormungir to swallow the world, or a solo-vigilante on a personal crusade, or the leader of a band of superheroes whose entire purpose is to defend the world from giant dung-beetles. You'd only know what they told you about themselves, and what purpose they were requested to fulfill within the Initiative, which people seem to have been doing almost organically, looking at the names we've adopted :)

Am I
I like your thought process @dreamcatcher. Keeping it generic as possible would be in everyone's best interests, IMO. That said, regardless of what type of role we take for our congregation I think it will still function as any corporation or organization out there... more or less.
If I may open a discussion on the topic of leadership, I'd like to propose a more Council-like approach for the role rather than sticking to the typical "pyramid" structure. Instead of individual players, the supergroups in the game should form the pyramid, with this one at the top setting a heroic (or villainous) example for the community... or something like that.
Promoting community, giving advice, hosting CCs... or in the case of villains, helping heroes keep a job :)
In CoH up to the point when the shutdown was announced... it seemed like more and more often, vets of the game pulled themselves into recluse, no pun intended (ok maybe a little pun) and shut themselves away in private groups or hidden chat channels that new players would have no idea about. It made the game "feel" barren to newbies unless they were already associated with someone in the game.
It wasn't like that on every server... but I played on them all, and it was like that on quite a few. That's not something I want to see happen here, ever.
We should strive to maintain the value of Honesty and Integrity amongst our peers and most of all, Interaction with the community... regardless of player experience (newbie/vet) or alliance (hero/villain). We've already got the best people money can't buy... let's induct a new generation of superheroes (and villains) better than all the rest... better than we even had in CoH. Let's make that our goal. Let's be Titans of the Phoenix Rising!

Now, now, villains can promote community too. In fact, one of my favorite things to do on my villain was helping out random low-level villains - set them started on their schemes, show them the ropes... and then maybe, someday, they'd make for more interesting opponents; can't have everyone be just bugs to be crushed beneath your heel; that gets boring.

My thoughts on leadership:
I was a founding member of a theatre company, where we tried to implement exactly what you are describing, Xander Cross. The problem we ran into, though, was "too many cooks in the kitchen." A whole lot of opinions and nothing got done. At the end of the day, there needs to be somebody to have the final say in a Super Group. That was where the "coalition" in CoX was so valuable: if a member really liked his/her fellow members, but perhaps did not quite agree with how the SG was being run or whatever, he/she could form a different SG, in coalition with the original, thus maintaining all the contacts, but perhaps running things or operating in a slightly different way.
I agree that creating an open, welcoming environment (as opposed to ostracizing new players) is paramount. The trick is having enough people willing to step up to the plate of showing new players the ropes. From where I stood, I'd say that past Issue 16 or so, there was a gradual but noticeable decline in the number of players willing to take the time out of their play time to show a new player the ropes. I really noticed it once the Incarnate system came around (i.e. the endgame). Up until then, there was not much (comparatively) for 50s to do, and I found that many of them devoted their time to helping new players. Once the end game came around though, no one wanted their characters left behind so Atlas Park emptied out in favor of the upper level zones. Personally, I know I would have had a much more difficult and frustrating time, and might not have stuck with the game, had I not had a couple of mentors who found me in my first few days on the server and offered their help and guidance, along with a place in their Super Group (shout out to Kamin Holtz and Meg A Zap on Pinnacle).
In short, I believe that while there can and maybe should be an "inner circle" of players that are at the top of the proverbial pyramid, there needs to be one person who has the final "yay" or "nay." Also, I believe that by hosting events and leading by example, it is very easy for a super group to become well-known as a group of amiable people willing to take in and train other players, and as long as we don't lose that, there is no reason for any new player to feel alone and leave the game.

A good discussion. :) I agree about wanting to try and be helpful, training new people, hosting events, etc. I will try to encourage that as much as I can. As far as how leadership will be broken down, I'm not sure yet. A lot of that may depend on how they structure it in the game. One thing I need to find out, and have a question in to MWM about it, is whether or not we'll even all be able to be in one SG. Currently, I have 151 people on my email list for Phoenix Rising. So I'm hoping the limit on people is much higher than that. Otherwise, we'll have to be broken up into multiple groups and Phoenix Rising will be it's own Coalition. lol Then leadership will get even more complicated... As I find out more, I'll let people know...

I agree with you on the "too many cooks in the kitchen" fully. What I'm proposing would be more along the lines of a majority rules voting system for large or sweeping changes. I'm envisioning there would still be a head of the council, but that person would not hold absolute sway over every major decision. Basically structure it so that no member would have authority to invoke massive changes on their own. Any decisions would be put to a vote, "yay" or "nay" majority rules, no rebuttal. In effect, there could be a "leader"... who much like the US President, is able to do things on their own, but any major change to the groups policies or procedures would need to go through a vote with "congress" i.e. the Council. something like that.

I like the idea of a Phoenix Rising Council. And I was picturing something along those lines. Depending on how MWM structures the groups, I imagine we'll have a number of leaders all at the same level. Someone will likely have to "own" the SG, though, like in CoX. In this case, it'll likely be Per Ignim since he's donating the building for us to use. So he would probably start the SG, invite the initial leaders, then they would invite the rest (or I would since I'm the keeper of the list currently).
One thing we could do for deciding important things is have polls people could vote on. They have that capability in Facebook groups, so we could possibly use the Phoenix Rising group for that. Or there are other online options, too...

Yes, exactly. The main idea, to me, is to provide a way to keep everyone continuously involved and interacting with the group, working toward common goals and keeping it interesting. Whether someone is new to the group or a founding member everyone has a voice. That is something hard to come by.
I agree that Per Ignim would retain ownership, I doubt there is anyone who will disagree with that. His donation was extremely generous and well deserves recognition and thanks for it. Which reminds me... Thank you Per Ignim, for your illustrious donation!

If the SG size limit is under 150, I definitely see that as an interesting dilemma, we would have to name our teams like The Phoenix Rising Raiders/Zombies etc lol And on the note of polls, there could possibly be such an option at the SG base itself, where we could bring up surveys on a computer(in the base in the game) and view a database of relevent SG action items and vote on them. And with that being said, you could also have an event database that is up for 24/7 view that would allow anyone to see what SG events are happening at what time, such as a CC at 6. And even go beyond that and have requests for help(example, need help fighting a boss or beating a misssion). And even beyond that you could schedule meetings with a certain level of the SG members (Leaders. Founder, Members etc) that would only be able to be viewed by the level of members that it is for. Also, you could possibly have it where you could make those event's post at only your SG database or all or select coalition bases as well
