When I found out The Secret World had an in-game browser, I thought that was just all kinds of neat. You could look up game information without leaving the game. I'd like to see the same thing in CoT. I'd like to see other amenities like that in the game, like a music player, Twitter, Facebook and the like.
Basically, the same things your smartphone can do. Maybe even Angry Birds.
Yes, there's licensing and legal matters to consider. It's just an idea.

Ingame music player is a MUST for me now. >.> Mainly because I use it to play Guile's Theme and Blind Guardian while farming in CO... HOWEVER, I'd be fine with there not being were as long as the ingame music was actually.. ya know.. good. Like CoX :D

I have yet to see an actual *ingame* music player, that didn't choke with the size of my music collection....
Champions and Star Trek's actually works very well with mine. And I'm the crazy who never deletes a song (9 gigs of music baby! WOOO!)

Do you really *need* an in game music player? can't you just run whatever your player of choice happens to be in the background? I mean I don't have a very high end system, and that's a non-issue for me.

185GB here :S
I know that some people like the *idea* of one, but to me, it has always been a gimmick, unless it is there to replace ingame music *entirely*
^ that's what the ones I listed do. Completely replace the music with your own until you hit the pause button :D

Lightweights. I have 0.8 TB of music. None of it duplicated. :)

For me, coding time spent making or integrating an in-game music player/browser/voice chat is coding time that could be better spent on something else more directly related to the core game.

The browser *can* be stupidly easy to implement, but also harder to secure.
I know that TSW had the browser, but that was because a couple of the quests *couldn't* be completed without going to a website...
The only thing I could think is if there is in game voicework that could come up suddenly - or in game music, in which case I wouldn't mind an in game music player capable of automatically pausing your own music so the in game voice or music isn't drowned out by your still-playing music.

Why would you want in game browsers? Just alt tab. You're already sitting at a computer on the internet. Now you don't even want to switch screens?
Why make the developers spend more time adding an ingame browser feature when they can use that time/resource to build more content.

I wouldnt mind if CoT had Hooks for us to drop in Voice Overs... instead of just seeing text for what the Cutscene characters are saying. If we can swap out Voice Over packs that Volunteers helped to create, we can pick the best one we like and use it... till we get bored, and put it Chipmunks! ;D

Not to mention any browser the devs did code won't be as good as whatever browser you currently use. Now, if we can say, click on a hyperlink in chat, bio, in-game mail and that opens up in our default browser, that could be useful and worth coding.

Regardless I think anything non-essential like an in-game browser or music player should be at best a SECONDARY concern for our Devs. It's already going to take them TWO YEARS just to give us a game to play - I really don't want them wasting time trying to give us all sorts of extra bells and whistles before they even get the core game off the ground. Maybe 6 months or a year after the game launches they can worry about adding fluff like that in.

Hyperlinks are a great feature and I have no trouble Alt-Tabing, as long as the game doesn't freak out when it loses the focus. I've had some games try to log me out, or go to a 'loading' screen, when I Alt-Tabbed to another program.
I'd love to be able to tell the game 'This is my Music Player, if it is playing music, then I don't want to hear yours'.

You can usually do that by setting the music volume slider to 0. Actually programing a client to tell that there is a music player of some kind up and running would be borderline impossible and certainly not worth anyone's time.

I'm not talking about the game searching for music players and automatically giving them priority. I'm talking about a preference setting, where you tell the game "If this.exe is running, give it priority." Because, fairly regularly, I'll play the game without having my own music running - in which case, the game's own music is entirely welcome and appropriate.

Even that would fall under "programing nightmare". There were plenty of times I was listening to a podcast or you-tube while playing a game, I just turn the music volume to 0 and reset it when done. would it be nice if the game could do this automatically, yes, but given how much work this would take, its not really worth it.

If CoT gets onto Steam somehow, I'm not sure how the Steam UI integration works, but I know Steam has a built in browser in the UI overlay. So there's, potentially, that.
