Alright, here's yer #$%%&# Villain thread! ;)
Ya know, you coulda started one...
Oh, there's so many!
I think I would pick Doctor Doom. He's got the tech, he's got magic, he's noble, I really think he's been ill used a lot, particularly in the F4 movies.

Dr. Doom all up this this thread!
Indeed, no one compares.

"I'll let you in on a little secret. I lost my temper long, long ago, and I've never found it. Maybe it's under one of the sofa cushions! Pain? You can't stop me by hurting me! Don't you know me at all? Pain is my boon companion! My stalwart friend! I am alive with pain every moment of every day, Lex! Ever since that fateful day when I was baptized in a vat of chemical goo, that corrosive stuff has burned through my skin like fire. Pain is my One True Love! I admire your willingness to do violence, Lex. Because you have no problem doing it when you have to. But I'm different, Lex. I do violence because it's fun! You're good at your job, Lex. But me? I LOVE MY JOB!"

I have 2 that are my favorites, The Joker and Magneto
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
Nightmare is actually a combination of my favorite villains.
The magic and tech mixture along with a sense of nobility is from Dr. Doom. Bit of an obvious one ya?
Sheer intelligence, interest in the occult, and dress style (out of the powersuit that is) is from Ra's al Ghul.
Fear abilities are from Scarecrow (albiet, his are from chemicals whereas Nightmare's is from magic)
And lastly, I mix in a bit of Mr. Sinister here and there :D
Just decided on power armor being his villain wear because I rarely see anyone using a blend of magic and science like Dr. Doom, especially when it comes to defense. Although Shadow Destroyer in Champions also wears a suit of power armor that's been enhanced magically, so the idea isn't new.

Sorry about not making this. The day got away from me.
I'd have to go with Dr. Horrible from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and DC's numerous Gorilla Villains (off the top of my head, I can count Gorilla Grodd, Monseiur Mallah, and Ultra-Humanite).
The world is a mess and I just ... need to rule it.
Oh, if Dr. Horrible counts then I'm adding in Cobra Commander, Corporate Commander from AngryJoeShow, and Dr. Insano of the Spoony Experiment! :D

He's not exactly a supervillain, but M. Bison from Street Fighter certainly acts like one. Dr. Doom is always my favorite, though, after I finished reading the Book of Doom arc that explained his origin.
But for what it's worth, the Symbiotes from Spider-Man seem to always capture my attention. The stakes completely change whenever Venom or Carnage sticks their nonexistent noses into the mix. At the same time, their abilities vary from mutation to mutation, which makes a very interesting "family" to watch.
Black Adam, Dr. Octopus, Dr. Doom.
Selene from the X Men...inspiration for a bit of Contessa Nocturne actually....and Ghost Widow...:)

Old Man Henderson killed Hastur for good. You don't get to be a villain by killing Hastur, Great Old One and fabled King In Yellow.
On topic, gotta say I think Dio Brando from JJBA is the best super villain, if only for the sheer over-the-top-ness of everything he does forever. He has a vampiric minion literally called Vanilla Ice, for christ's sake.
Oh, reminds me. I wonder how many times the word Hastur has come up in this-ohgodwhy
Doctor Doom and the Joker basically go without saying. Magneto may also be in the 'of course' crowd.
Getting beyond them?
Catwoman (even when she was bad, she was so good)
Thanos (such a magnificent [redacted]
Fate, from the Negima manga (what?)
Outside of comics proper?

Good Morning Starshine. The Earth says Hello!
We have a winner
I dunno, i can think of a few who would beat that... but that all depends if you allow racists in or not.
Well that always depends on what you mean. Do you mean "racist" when it is used to shut up any debate because they cannot think of anything else to do because they cannot win the argument.
Or do you mean racist, as in someone who wants to ensure their race is not killed off by an invading power and wants to fight of their own people to ensure their racial survival.
Or do you mean racist as in Dalek style racism... because The Daleks win hands down in that department.
Either way, real life meanings and political correctness aside, I think racist can be thrown out of any argument and pure evil can be inserted instead... and the Daleks win that argument every time.... EXTERMINATE!!!!!!!
I think we should limit it to the supervillain category, bringing in RL is too depressing...

Oh, in that case... Golden Girl.
Personal reasons.
I second this sentiment, otherwise this thread is going to go places we'd rather it not go.

You are right there, supervillains on the whole are not racist, they generally hate everyone in equal measure. We also have entities or groups of entities that destroy everyone equally, like the Daleks, Tyranids from the 40k univere, the original Borg from Star Trek and replicators from the Stargate Universe.
Everyone has one enemy that essentially hate everyone else equally that essentially trump any other evil within that universe to the point all the good and bad guys have to team up to beat it.
Doom goes without saying... but you DO need to add Norman Osbourne. My personal favorite always has been Carnage. Why? He is damn near a force of nature- you can't talk him down, reason with him, etc.. he only exists to make the world bleed. Even Mr. J has a plan, a reason, however twisted. Kassidy is the epitome of a monster.
I would have to say Satannus. He was an insanely powerful being, toying with the mortal world and using it for his amusement. He represented an inconceivable evil existence outside our reality, so he had the terrifying aspect, genius, and ultimate power on his side, making him a truly epic bad guy.
You get a strange feeling when approaching Hellgeist. Things begin to seem dreamlike, and his cloak expands, making him see incredibly tall. He gazes at you through the blue mists that have gathered, and the world sinks into shadow..
Lex Luthor, the sheer fact that out of all the chances he could have bettered the world with his tech, or assisted the League, he instead wastes on pursuing and taking out/replacing the Man of Steel, who does nothing but try and help his adopted home, ranks him right up there with Darksied, another favorite of mine....
But all time favorite has got to be Deathstroke....I mean if it takes Nightwing, Batman, and Robin to take you down even for a bit..:0
Ahem....

Dr. Vahz! :D Come on, someone had to say it... ^_^
Oh, and Vanessa DeVore :)

Poison Ivy, especially as she was portrayed in BtAS.
sexy red head/brilliant scientist/crazed villain, what's not to like in that package? She was a big inspiration in my villain Cykatek (just replace plants with robots).

The Titan Legacy - Defender of the Inner Flame
I know they are a bit more down scale than some of the names mentioned so far but I am a huge fan of the rogues as a team and especially mirror master, captain cold, and captain boomerang.
I''m especially liking how mirror master's powers have evolved since the relaunch. While it somewhat cheapens some of what I enjoyed about the rogues previously, I thought the way he has been used so far works exceptionally well. The way manapul and buccelleto realised his powers and represented it in the panels has been fantastic.
Suicide squad also needs get a shout out though in their case I find them more interesting as a group than individually and there is the argument that they could be considered makeshift heroes in the context of the book.
Soul Kitten (created by Kheldarn and used in the sig of the super-talented Australian digital colorist Eddy Swan)!

Basement Cat
Doctor Doom and Lex Luthor. I love villains who are so self righteous they think they are doing the world by conquering it.

David Xanatos..... Particularly when they gave him some empathetic qualities later one
I like my villains to be whole people.... villains like Doom and the Joker... while I love their scenery-chewing evil cleverness, always come across as caricatures....

David Xanatos in Gargoyles was awesome. Also liked dude with the mohawk who started off as a villain and became more like a hero.

definitely some iterations of freeze. Like so many Arkham inmates.... he has the potential to be a phenomenal villain, as long as he's well written.

I agree. Xanatos was definitely a good foil for the Gargoyles crew.
The Demona/Goliath relationship was also a good touch.
It didn't hurt that Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis were doing the voices. For that matter, Michael Dorn voiced Coldstone. I don't remember if Lavar Burton was on "Gargoyles", but he was on "Captain Planet" as Kwame.

The Titan Legacy - Defender of the Inner Flame
The Plutonian from Irredeemable.
Way back in the day it was Graviton from the Avengers. His first appearance in Avengers 158 was the first superhero comic book I read, and he was the inspiration for my first CoH character - The Gravimetric Man (I came into the game late when all the "good" gravity-based names were already taken. lol)
Not sure if OMH is a villain. More of a force of nature.
Wait until you see the... nope, that would ruin the surprise.
A modern favorite here.
Doctor Impossible from 'Soon I will be Invincible"
It's hard not to like the guy. He knows he's the villain and he knows he's going to lose but he's such a sympathetic character that you want him to win.
Wait until you see the... nope, that would ruin the surprise.
Bad Horse and Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor

I don't get mad, I restructure the laws of quantum physics and resolve the situation with temporal engineering.
I'd have to go with the Kingpin. He's utterly ruthless, impeccably attired and more than willing to get his hands dirty.
I weigh my villains by kill count so Phoenix is the winner. Not only entire solar systems but most notably killing my favorite hero, the death of Charles Xavier
Crowd Control Enthusiast
Magneto and Mongul and Sinestro
The original Hobgoblin. I think he's one of the best villain's in Marvel and my favorite from Spidey's list of foes.
Blitzkreiger - SecLevel 50 Mutant Incarnate Blaster
The monster from Jeepers Ceepers (first film, the second film missed the point entirely)
There was an idea for comedy super villain...
The evil tooth fairy. She looks like a cute little flying pixie, she doesnt wait for your teeth to fall out, she just turns up with a hammer and chisel, while you're sleeping...

Always enjoyed the entire concept of Ultron. It's an AI, wrapped in an indestructible shell, with a daddy complex so bad that it went beyond cold reason. It actually went straight to emotions: Sheer hatred and contempt for the entire human race. Every time it shows up it's a potential Extinction Level event! It is my favorite Avengers "All hands on deck!" villain. My favorite, hands down

Dr. Doom is my all time favorite then Task Master
--Formerly Jorortis--
Note: Jorortis is still a character of mine and is still going to be in the super group, not Demirus, at least not yet...
My favorite is General Grievous, heck i think he's even my favorite of all characters ever. Not the Episode III: Revenge of the Sith version though... George Lucas took an explosive diarrhea on him.
Lex Luthor for the same reason, and because he is right. He is basically like a real-life person trapped in a world of DCU physics and logic. If only people would just listen to him, he wouldn't need to be a damn villain.
"TRUST ME."
The Marvel Max version of Bullseye is a close second.

Montgomery Burns

Agent Smith

The penguin, especially the version from pain and prejudice where you get to understand how he got to be so cruel. His individual comic book from villains month kind of ruined him for me because while it had penguin being awesome it also introduced a childhood friend. The tragedy of his character was that no one gave a crap about him except for his mother. I like philosophical element of batman stories, since ultimately batman is a supers noir story, and rewriting the villains this way takes that element that made batman unique away from the series.

My favorite Super Villains are:
1. The Joker
2. Deadpool ( I know he is not a villain, but he acts like one at times)
3. Green Goblin

I think most answers to this question depend on how you feel and what you've been reading lately, same as with favourite superheroes or any other type of character. As of now, Harvey Two-Face is my favourite supervillain, but Lex and Riddler are close contenders. You got to love a sociopath who knows how to dress well.
