Video of power animations when fighting?

Are there any videos characters actually fight? I want to see power and character animations which for me is the core of the gaming experience.

Hi! We are currently working

Hi! We are currently working on coding the underlying combat systems. Part of which bust he core movement system that affects how the animations work.

She showed a few sneak peaks of some of the prototyping of combat in our July 4th update.

Keep in mind that the gifs are representing prototyping and far from final.

As we iterate on the combat project for the game and get the fundamental systems and mechanics in place, we hope to provide some more “behind the scenes” footage of combat.

Thanks. My wishful

Thanks. My wishful suggestion. :-). The huge thing I and I believe many others liked about City of Heroes animations is that the characters’ movements were stylized but realistic. Realistic meaning it looks like they actually used motion capture for the animations and not those jerky, obviously computer algorithm generated animations so many games have. The human eye has a natural ability to immediately spot unnatural movement. Thanks for the great work y’all are doing.

Motion cap wasn’t really a

Motion cap wasn’t really a thing back when ToG was fort being made. Especially for games.

Even as thr game aged, the animation dev (BaBs was his endearing nickname) would video record himself making motions and then try to animate the characters in a similar fashion. But the animation work was done in a traditional manner.

AmIEvil, our game play program lead is also well versed in unreal animation and has done a wonderful job. Take a look at our flight vids, or if you have backed the game and can access it, you can take a look at how the character moves in flight for yourself to get an idea of his work.

We are keenly aware of how important animations are to game play. We can have the best combat mechanics ever made, but if the movement snd animations are off, it can make the game feel terrible to play.

Is Unreal the only animation

Is Unreal the only animation suite that MWM uses or is it in conjunction with other programs? Just curious. I have Unreal and Blender loaded and fiddle about with them as time permits.

Turns out I think Doctor Tyche just answered this question a few days ago on their Discord page in the character-creator thread. The following are the exact quotes related to this:

Quote:

To warn you, Blender outputs don't work in Unreal well for anything with bones or morphs as/is. You need to use the Blender/Unreal plugin

Quote:

We use Maya, Cinema4D, and zBrush mostly. The plugin for Blender is rather new, so we had to avoid using it for the longest time.

We also use a another

We also use a another animation tool in between the animation suite and unreal to work with our custom skeleton. One that works with both Mac and windows clients.
