Looking good! Seems like it still needs a lighting pass or two and there's a few things to file down, but this is absolutely great progress
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
Looks great, I can imagine running across those factory rooftops during the night. I was wondering 3 things though. What's that dark building in Phoenix Plaza that the Phoenix is staring at, looked a little out of place. Also, is that big open field between Phoenix Plaza and the "Washington Monument" suppose to be a park? If so it could use a few things like benches, trashcans, joggers, purse snatchers, mutant creatures coming from out of a pond(you know, normal park stuff.) Last bit of feedback I would have is to not forget about parking areas for all these places. Couple parking spots here and there make it feel more legit.
WOW! Looking good. Lighting is a bit weird and that one statue of (I believe) Athena looks a bit rough, but otherwise I love it. Can't wait to roam Titan City. Much more variety of buildings other then endless rectangle skyscrapers from DCUO. It really does look like a New England city.
I accidently ate a bowl of radioactive soup....ok I guess that makes me a Soup-er Hero
I hope we get at least one zone that's skyscraper focused though, for flyers and swingers to enjoy.
The building in front of the Phoenix is Old City Hall.
Wait until you see the... nope, that would ruin the surprise.
It looks amazing! Keep up the good work and please take your time. Everything down to the grass blades looks really good.
If there's a video in the last media frame, I am unable to see it. I can see the rest of the images, for what its worth. Using Firefox.
Edit: I saw the video in the Project Update email from Kickstarter. Good stuff! Keep it up!
Impressive! I can just imagine starting a character here and running the first several missions in the area. I hope we have some occasional reasons to return here when we're higher levels.
I like the way the layout seems more like a realistic city than other game cities in the past. Certain standout landmark points, but also areas that are more cookie-cutter, yet still different from one another.
How high is the raised area for Phoenix Plaza? I'm thinking that fall could prove a risk to children and other non-supers without some sort of railing.
Spurn all ye kindle.
Looking very good!
I too thought the lighting looked a bit wonky but then it started to look more like the lighting was changing with the clouds going overhead... Not sure if that is right but it looked that way to me and if so, very nice!
Work is still impressing in a great way!
"A sad spectacle. If they be inhabited, what a scope for misery and folly. If they be not inhabited, what a waste of space." ~ Thomas Carlyle
This was incredibly exciting!
I am so stoked to see what's essentially an entire zone put together. So rad.
Along with other folks in the thread here I do have a similar question: a lot of things, mostly textures, look very flat. Is that s lighting thing? Shaders? Before occlusion?
Thanks for sharing this!! You guys are making great progress.
Mostly a shader thing at this stage. Some of the textures aren't optimized yet either. Still work to be done ;)

Yes, lighting adjustments will come and there will obviously be day/night lighting that will alter the look of many of the neighborhood areas shown in the video.

So the dark building in Phoenix Plaza is Old City Hall, also known as the Titan City Museum. It looks different from the surrounding buildings because it is a historic building that survived the fire of 1908. While the surrounding architecture is newer and modern built after the fire, the 1908 Romanesque Titan City Museum building stands as a reminder of the City's past. Titan City Museum is a CoT landmark building and will have lore and missions that tell players about the history of the building.
Regarding the park adjacent to Phoenix Plaza (and for that matter, all of Alexandria), we haven't gone in yet and done placement of park benches, bus stops, trashcans, etc. This is some of the finishing we mentioned that still needs to be done before it will be ready for players to enter the zone. Those features will definitely be coming!
And we do have some parking in many places already - That's another thing that needs finishing to make sure there is appropriate parking to add to the realism of the neighborhoods...

Alexandria is a neighborhood with a very specific feel and does not represent what the other neighborhoods will look like. Each of the neighborhoods we are designing to give their own unique character. And we definitely will have more skyscrapers in other neighborhoods, with the Downtown neighborhood being very skyscraper focused...

What about petrol/gas stations? I think the old game had a grand total of one, and that one was in Praetoria. A long way to go for a fill-up!
Also, is that a wastewater processing facility at 1:37?
Spurn all ye kindle.
There is at least one gas station already in Alexandria and we may add more with finishing... We will make sure that they are also appropriately placed in the neighborhoods throughout Titan City...
And that was a drinking water treatment plant and distribution facility at 1:37...

Excellent. I really love the way the city is looking.
Spurn all ye kindle.
It looks amazing!
Keep up the great work!
"I don't think you understand the gravity of your situation."
Still mainly hoping huge scaled characters are getting worked on. Not very happy with how they look currently at all.
Puny Heroes.
Thx Warlock, great to hear. ;D
Love it. Great video. Detail is impressive, IMO, from such a small, volunteer team.
One small preferential recommendation, the building at 1:19 with the two identical statues in from of the door...I would suggest mirroring the one on the left so the ball, or whatever is being held, is on the left. I just feel like that would look better.

Does Alexandria have a super powered cleaner employee ? :D It's so clean on the floor ! ^^

Actually, there will be randomized trash flying around - that's one of the finishing things that needs to be added later. And the grounds are still unfinished and will have some more materials finishing work so they won't look so squeaky clean...

all the things you are telling us make me enjoying more what i saw in this video ! :) can't wait to fly over Alexandria ^^

Thanks for the feedback Cleric - I went in and mirrored those statues and agree that will look much better. I'll replace the two on the building with these below...

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say how excited I am by all the feedback people have shared on this update - we are thrilled with the progress we are seeing in building Titan City! One great thing that we are noticing with our group of volunteers is that we have learned a lot and will be able to do much more work at a much faster pace now that we have had significant experience building the game. 2020 is going to be a year of leaps and bounds for us! In the work I'm doing, I have some finishing work to do with Alexandria, (and others have some work to do there to make it game-ready), and then I'm going to continue working on Old Bradford (where many of the moguls we have shared are located) and then Downtown and other neighborhood areas. I'm especially looking forward to getting back to work on moguls as soon as work in Alexandria is finished.
Thanks again for all the great feedback - it helps to know what are priorities from the community in building things. The realism of gas stations, parking areas, trash in the streets, and other things that give the environment an authentic edge are noted and I'll keep that in mind as I'm looking at corners and spots where we haven't figured out exactly how we want to use the space. There is always lots of room to make those kinds of additions!
Happy New Year to everyone!

So you'll be working on travel powers this year? Hahahaha. Sorry.
Can we assume that some neighbourhoods will have more trash in the streets than others?
Spurn all ye kindle.
There will definitely be more trash on some streets than others, and more grunge on some walls than others, for sure...
Environmental Artist, PR Editor
I feel like seeing something as simple as trash on the streets or walls that have graffiti plastered all over them is going to be something really exciting. Any efforts to make Titan City comparable to a living, breathing modern day city will be all the more appreciated.

I liked seeing the all the buildings, especially the location of Goldenrod's (Hypatia Argyros') day job at the Central Library. I can't wait to post some screenshots of her in her librarian suit in front of the building (maybe inside?), possibly wielding a mop handle as a staff against the fishmen...^_^
What's that building at the western end of the Phoenix Plaza area, with the dome, next to the Obelisk, seen in close-up at about 0:31?

I just wanted to say that I loved the music, it added a great feel to the video.
I look forward to getting lost in the city, cursing the devs for creating a stupid layout, then remembering that I have superjump and quietly deleting the ticket I was writing before going about pretending that nothing at all had just happened.

While I understand the Dynamic Duo level only provides access to Issue 0 is there any progress on arranging keys for second Dynamic Duo access to the character builder?
Just catching up with this, and so glad to see such a variety of textures, materials and moods in one zone. That Other Game seems to have turned reflective surfaces up to 11 Just Because Unreal Engine(tm); this is far more realistic, so far.
