I’m happy you made so much, hopefully you will get even more now with the new payment option. :)

I upgraded big time myself. In the original Kickstarter I had just got a new job that paid all right. Since then I got married, had another child (who is 5 years old), got a better job, then received a promotion at the new job. I’m more settled financially so I’m so happy I can contribute more. This project is looking good and I’m glad our faith all these years not has been for nothing.

It's been fun and educational

It's been fun and educational to be a Second Chance Backer. I've gotten to make some cool characters. Ever since 2015 I've anticipated this game, but I always tried to maintain realistic expectations when it came to how long development would take. I have to say, Missing World's Media hasn't disappointed me yet, and I'm thankful for getting a small bite out of what to expect.
The Avatar Builder no doubt has much left to improve, but compared to other character creators I've experienced in other games this could easily become one of the best. My biggest concern was how slow it ran on my computer. Everything felt like a 1.5 sec delay in the AB and the Island. I was pretty sure I remember a post awhile back with one of the devs saying that the game will be able to run well even on less expensive computers. Other then that I thank the devs for your work so far and I anticipate the day I can Answer the Call and Enter Titan City.

I accidently ate a bowl of radioactive soup....ok I guess that makes me a Soup-er Hero

Yeah I liked the add-ons you could get separate from the “tiers” first time around. Hopefully they’ll be able to add more.

I think we might get a positive feedback loop. People pledge money, then MWM uses that money to hire more people, upgrade their servers, buy new software, etc. With those new resources they feel confident about being able to offer more things and be able to fulfill the new content. Which leads to more people pledging, which is more money, and so on.

Working on it - they'd probably come as our first set of 'Stand-Alones' - can't call them Add-Ons anymore. We're going to add more downloadable stuff in time, and the mousepad is getting brand new art right now.

The thing is, we don't want to keep selling you starships. I mean, it works for other games, but we're just not set up that way. I mean that in a literal sense - what would we sell you, individual spandex patterns? That'd be nickle and diming. We'd rather be meaningful.
We want to get this game up and sustaining itself. So 'new things to sell' have not been a huge priority for us.
I hope you can understand.

The global name reservation isn't a concern at this moment. The badge is a very good point that I clearly remember someone bringing up and us deciding 'oh we'll figure it out later'.

Well, it's later!

How were you planning on paying for all that stuff if no one else had bothered contributing?

Another way to phrase it is

Another way to phrase it is 'we need at least 10k before we feel safe enough to go hire someone' because, well, we're doing this for all of you (and us) and money is one way we can measure people's continuing interest. If we did this huge thing and we didn't make even 10k out of it, we'd really have to rethink our plans.

I want to thank you all for that show of interest. It's been a HUGE boost to internal morale.

Cleric, you've been an honest critic of us for a while. How are you feeling about all this?

Also, did you like the comic?

Faces need work but we’re not missing noses or ears. Costumes have entire categories that are empty.

Not to be a downer, but I am concerned about the long-term viability of the project. The Avatar Builder is obviously far from finished, but the project has been maintained on a volunteer basis up to this point, as I understand it. Presumably it will continue to be maintained on a volunteer basis until and unless enough funding can be secured to develop the game full-time. The original Kickstarter was 6 years ago, correct? But total funding hasn't even broken $1 million yet. It seems like the level of funding necessary to even begin full-time production on the game is just not there, and the amount of work done so far is not enough to attract that kind of investment now.

I know a guy.

I know a guy.

Anyway I have been messing with the AB off an on for a few weeks and I love it. Obviously needs a lot of tweaking and working out bugs and stuff. I have messed with a few costumes, messing with textures and such. Such depth of different things you can do with the AB right now. Even in it's alpha stage. With that said, i really want me Knowing a guy to pan out and not be money flushed down the virtual toilet. And while the AB is awesome to tinker with, i am eagerly awaiting the MMO features to be added to what we currently can mess with. I don't have any costumes to share right now, but I hope to have some later. In the meantime, I am making the Rogue Isles my hunting ground.

Up until now the only funding they have had is the original KS, whatever they get from Patreon, and then selling stuff in the shop like t-shirts and coffee cups. You shouldn’t expect their funding to increase when they aren’t selling anything.

Second Chance just started, so they are finally getting some income again. It’s way too early to be worried about money.

Wel, consider, some of us have been here from the start, before the KS. That’s nearly 7 years of part-time work without pay. If we haven’t given up yet because of pay, we likely aren’t going anywhere either.

Also, don’t forget we work on the game in separate modules, work gets done on other parts of th game not fully shown yet either.

To be frank..I am more optimistic than I was a month ago. Despite the complaints about lack of options, so many people have shown exceptional flexibility in creating 'work-arounds' to things they want. Some look terrible, but more look great. I've been convinced to donate when I was planning on waiting longer to see how more of the project unfolds but I feel better about the project overall.

Wow the graphics in the client are so much better now than what you see in that post. The game has come so far already.
