The handcuffs will react to the wearer attempting spellcasting by tightening as long as the casting continues or until they are no longer being worn. They are also much more durable than their stainless steel construction would indicate. Also, I presume that since [i]this[/i] Jackie is wearing different clothes, then what [i]that[/i] Jackie was wearing went with [i]that[/i] Jackie. More [i]gorram[/i] paperwork for lost handcuffs...

I think it makes most sense for Heather to act next.
Reviewing the thread, I've realized just how much has happened in the safehouse :p So, we've had two big paths mentioned:
1) to the Coventre precinct: knowing it's an invasion by an organization with politics, I'd plan an action heavy line, maybe with a resolution to the Jackie trouble.
2) "Planeswalking" to the "source": aka travelling to Necrobia. It was hinted by the character McJigg before they went to the patrol car. Questline (idk what word works) could significantly effect larger events, but pose huge danger ;)
I'm open to both, but I figure 1 favors Heather, the cop, and 2 favors McJigg, the mage, and 1 favors smaller scale, 2 favors larger scale.

McJigg wouldn't put planeswalking on the table until he had more information, he takes it pretty seriously. For now my vote rests with helping Heather get the mage into custody, get Chaisma proper medical attention and contacting Bpit for information on Necrobia.
Certainly up to the task once they're bit more prepared though.
I'll say it would be easier than normal since the ironclad veil between Necrobia and baseline earth is weaker during the event. But, I'll ponder what the precinct might hold then :)

Sorry, working the night shift has messed up my sleep schedule. Shifting back to days next week will mess it up again.
And don't worry about the handcuffs. They won't react to someone else casting a spell on the person wearing them.
Though that could be a disadvantage, under certain circumstances.
Alley behind the store, turn right to the street beside the store, turning right at the street will take us right past the parking lot in front of the store, then another five blocks to the precinct house. Easy, right? So I'm thinking the side is somewhat clear, but as you get closer to having line of sight to the front of the store, it's more obvious something's happening there.

I'd say we're still in the alley. A deli worker can just as easily be outside and Heather has given directions. That, and McJigg's spell that's meant to be unintrusive for getting around would raise a lot of suspicion leading to the inside of the building.

Heather's magic is on the order of tertiary powers, except for the ones enhancing her attacks and for certain Love/Death/Prosperity/Protection "domain spells". So a trained mage may not be affected much by this Sleep Well spell. OTOH, she's been using her powers and lost a fight and just got drained. So maybe she's just vulnerable either right now or to [i]Seiðr[/i] in general, or maybe she's not.

McJigg has a bit of the paladin mentality, can't let the civilians take the heat. This is indeed one of the ways he finds himself in hot water.
Not sure how to handle "dispel" but lets go with this: it dispels enhancements on the haunts, but doesn't render them corpses, since I think that'd be a bit OP. Reasoning: the undead are animated by a more ancient and powerful magic, whereas the enhancements are done by Necrobians like the chaos mage or Summoner Jackie.

Competing Necros, yes.
I admit, the comment originally comes from a game in which I sometimes play a Necromancer, going into a zone full of pesky re-animated bodies, where I and my pets are forced to wear-down each enemy's HPs. I wanted a 'Get Back to where you once Belonged' power.
I mean, wouldn't it make sense for a Necromancer to be the best solution to a plague of zombies?

It could be considered that the more powerful D&D cleric turns (i.e., the ones that destroy the effected undead) do just that; disconnect the power and they revert to corpses. But note that that is much more powerful clerics than the undead are.

I think it will hinge on what's going on there. Are other heroes there working as a base? Are the police out protecting the place, or have they barricaded themselves inside?
It's a warzone basically, so I'm thinking they're mostly barricaded inside, but since Haunts can conjure out of the very walls, it's not doing them much good. Also it's a chance to spawn a Technomancer :)

And if Brown-Robes tries casting anything other than releasing those mechs, Heather will open fire. If he doesn't release the mechs, he gets one warning. And if he tries to hex the pistol, we find out whether he can get past the wards Heather's mom Mei-Ling put on it before Heather can fire at him. ^_^

No idea how these wards work, but the magic releases entropy trapped in the pistol, making it more simple. Critical Hit would turn it into ore, successful hit turns into a flintlock, minor hit just disables it. Any other devices could also be targets.
Kinda glad Chiasma isn't in this fight because he'd be out of weapons fast :p

Note Jackie's primary objective is to get back home, not to stop Convergence. He'll try to get help from Gael, but Gael's no chaos mage. The Remoted mech will keep at Heather unless redirected by Gael. Think Mastermind pet controls, they'll charge mindlessly until told otherwise :p

Imagine an injury that incapacitated the pilot. How do you get at the pilot to treat him without an external release?
Admittedly, it's usually only going to be used when the mech is not still moving around, and it should not be possible to activate it while using it as a handhold...
(Edit)...but since you've already written that it worked we'll skip over how Heather did it. ^_^
I was envisioning something where you push in and then turn. And Heather was going to have to drive her sword into the mech (at an angle to avoid the pilot) to get the leverage to do that. The upside would be that she has both hands free to get the pilot out.

I figure the spell's titled "Sleep [b]Well[/b]", so she'd have a good powernap. So, what exactly happens when one uses spells with the cuffs on? My understanding is that they'll painfully constrict, intending to subdue the perp with physical pain.
Bit of background: the blade is called a Gluon blade because it cleanly separates the atoms it touches, somehow without causing fission. It's Endeavored tech, so no one really understands how it works.

Yeah, that's the downside of using it as a control spell. ^_^
Yes, they will constrict painfully. It may break bones, but once the teeth have disengaged they will not move further. So they won't cut the hands off.
My techy heroes (The Duchess and Tinker Belle) would call that "Clarke Tech", as in, "a sufficiently advanced technology".
OK, Des, I'm thinking most likely result is the spell of control gets disrupted and Gael's failsafe shuts the mech down. Best result from Heather's P.o.V. is that Gael's spell is taken out completely, and she gets control of the mech, but I don't think that's a likely outcome. Worst case is she keeps casting and drawing energy from the sunblade, which in turn draws the energy from the mech and from Gael's spell, and it just takes a while to get to most likely result.

Love how the dispel didn't go as planned, love heather's new mech, love the Chaos mage being woken up. McJigg is starting to feel spread thin in a war zone when he's not suited to actual combat!
I suppose it's worded "unable to use minigun" not "out of ammo" :p I'll let McJigg decide before doing the reaction to the gun. The roster is a bit full....so the decision might be dire ;p

An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
In fewer words, Necrobia, the cross-dimensional cult/nation of mages, has invaded Titan City in a zombie apocalypse. The team is trying to get into the Coventre TCPD precinct to get more info on Necrobia, but they're battling a Technomancer and chaos mage before they can get in.
Scaleback could be a fun brute mauling the countless hordes ;)

Can I ask for a summary of major events and perhaps a highlight reel of posts so I don't have to read... Well the entire thread to join in?
Sure!
Overall: a cross-dimensional group of sorcerers, [b][url=https://cityoftitans.com/forum/necrobians-part-genosha-part-institute]the Necrobians[/url][/b], have started a zombie apocalypse in Titan City. Undead humanoids, knights, and later other monsters appear from thin air or crawl through walls.
First the group met a Summoner, the Detective managed to kill him, they decide to go to the Mercenary's safehouse with the body, where they are attacked by a Chaos mage who incapacitates the Mercenary and transforms the Summoner into an alternate timelines version who is "good". They're currently trying to get to the police precinct in Coventre but a Technomancer is halting their progress, luckily the Chaos Mage had a critical failure on a spell....
You could deus ex machina the Technomancer, or jump in in the precinct :)

That and work officially entering the busy season yes. Back to hosting 3 weddings every weekend and it really eats up a lot of my free time when all work from wedding nights is postponed to when I'm not chasing the drunks around.

So, if I wanted to join in on this (which I do), would i just make a new scene and wait for someone to interact with my character?
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
Or walk in on the existing scene, either way. ^_^

Yeah, you can either crash into the technomancer battle, or wait until we're in the precinct, which I'm thinking is immediately after Gael is neutralized. You get a bit more flexibility with the precinct: it's a war-zone so anything could be happening in there.
