#ShowerThoughts, how about an RP centered around the events in other parts of the city while a city/region/global event is occurring.
In one of my storylines, my main, Galrithius, gains the ability to enact Convergence, basically the zombie apocalypse, with icicle shooting, darkness spewing, and fire breathing zombies, undead knights, massive bone beasts, and all kinds of fun horrors. But, the events central to that are so specific.
Think of it like the stories surrounding Hurricane Atlas, a family being saved here and a villain trying to take advantage there. There could be a number of vignettes or a cohesive sidestory taking place outside the red-skied Halloween event ;)
Wanna give it a try? Hopefully it can be interesting enough but also not overly reliant on the Convergence storyline.

Heather Kowalski, in addition to being a newly-minted Detective with the TCPD, is also a Gydhja of Freya, a goddess who has among a rather broad portfolio charge over half of the honored dead. Unfortunately those were standard police issue full metal jacket slugs. If they don't work, she'll break out her own special ammo. ^_^

This actually seems pretty nifty, I may actually try my hand at joining in if that's alright. Sounds right up McJigg's ally. When you say this could be small number of vignettes, do you multiple scenes going on at once or one small story at a time?
I mean the scenario is "superpowered zombie apocalypse" basically :p You could even run a sideplot segregated from anyone else's.

Generally, not a problem. Often, you can double post in a way that the second post adds something helpful to the story/plot/action. If you're running the thread, then you often have to post updates; especially when there is a lull in the posting.
If you're just waiting on others to take action, then an OOC post or a private message to poke them can work.

So I linked McJigg's profile as it was written in March 2018. I'm not editing it at the moment because I don't want it to seem like I wrote a character for this, it just truly is the kind if event he'd be good at dealing with. I will note as I've refined him over the past few months I've removed his ability to effortlessly talk with the dead. That ended up feeling excessive and difficult to keep in line with the rest of the CoT universe. We don't need a character who could ask every murder victim who killed them.
Because he sees magic I'm going to jump to conclusions a lot, please don't assume I'm trying to dictate what's actually happening.
Yeah I had read it as an erratic, jumping to understand the chaos about him at any moment. I've also been super cryptic about the nature of the undead at play so guessing is totally fair :)

To clarify, these undead don't normally speak, but McJigg sounds like he regularly converses with the dead, so I don't see why Servi would be immune.

The spell was meant to funnel any energy in the zombies at him, once they're out the spell ends. McJigg isn't a healer and I tried to word it in a way that gave you control instead of just saying "Jigg keeps him alive". You can buff someone's constitution score all you want, they still need their blood on the inside.

Police officers, other than special marksmen, are trained to shoot for the middle of the torso. Deliberately trying to hit a limb without sufficient skill more often than not results in a miss, often with the bullet striking someone else if close enough to the intended line of fire. The assumption is, if you don't want to risk your target dying, don't shoot at it. And, again, he was about to burn McJigg.

It mentions his wrist console was hacked when he defected, I don't think it's related to convergence. Des's call though if anything does get through.
Yeah was originally just his link to Star Lords HQ, but I think it makes sense that such reality distortion would effect radio signals within the radius, a wire would be able to send electrons fine, and a fibre photons. So wired networks work, but wireless wouldn't.

Getting some insight from Harbor Patrol, do I have the difficulty set too high too early? I feel like Heather hasn't gotten many chances to be heroic and effective, other than offing Jackie. Would it be more fun cutting some slack, or do you like the challenge.
Dark Souls isn't a 10/10 writing model :p I like having to struggle a bit before a victory, but not everyone does.

It's not quite the same as D&D, it not really 'hard' per say, since we're not dealing with dice rolls. I personally like trying to think how to deal with each thing but I'm playing a super in this.
Also McJigg is not a member of PIT. I really like the idea of it, but I don't want to tie what's planned to be my main character to an organization until I know more. I'd hate for for the game to come out, learn I don't like them as much as hoped and have to rewrite things. He'd work with them often though, given his arcane affinities.
Technically, Detective Kowalski is a super, in that she has some magic from her training as a [i]Gydhja[/i] of Freya. But except for counter-necromancy, it's mostly prepared blessing/enchantments. And these creatures coming out of walls seem to be resistant to the normal counter-necromancy, like holy ground. So, yes, she is a bit out of her depth, but both of her oaths, as a [i]Gydhja[/i] and a police officer, require her to do what she can.
Meanwhile, we can see what else that sword can do... Apparently, when blessed, it begins glowing and doing extra energy damage (like sunlight, if the target cares about such things). And while it won't adversely effect the wielder's or her allies' vision, it might interfere with her opponents' vision.

Violet Wraiths weakspot is their eyes, so a sunlight slice to the face would definitely demanifest the dark beast :)
The Haunts are trans-dimensional beasts, so standard counter-necromancy wouldn't effect them, but I'll drop the "blueblood magic is different than normal magic" stance since it's honestly pretty silly: everyone's got their own magic :p Let's have the blessings be more effective in the future.

Same, I like the discussions about which abilities counter which. "Difficulty" here is how generous the GM wants to be I suppose, making it totally arbitrary. C.e.g. over on Harbor Patrol, we can't roll for Constitution, so I can't say Mentalian's psionics overpower any defense, so it's assumed not enough.
Maybe PIT has some associate/liason position, which would give McJigg some loyalty to them without getting too caught up. Now way there won't be missions for PIT in the game.

It's going to exchange the body with a version of Jackie from another timeline, if successful ;) Soul and all I guess. I'm not much a soul guy so I lose track often :p If unsuccessful it could have any kind of disasterous effects.
Necrobian Chaos Magic is basically "timeline bending", e.g. borrowing objects from other timelines, negating projectiles in this one, etc.

That's interesting. From how the operate, their name and how things look, one would naturally try and cancel out necromancy. Very little of it seems to actually be necromancy though, buying them time as people try to exploit the wrong weakness. This is a cool faction to fight!
yeah I like the recent additions to Necrobia :) Galrithius is one of the few animate-dead-bodies necromancers, since he'd been teaching the others summoning from Necrobia.
Just to clarify OOC, this Jackie is a "good" version of him, where summoning and chaos magic are harshly forbidden in Necrobia.

Yeah that's how I try to balance Chaos Magic: it's borderline reality bending, but runs the risk of unintended consequences, especially rushed.
