A better German word similar to schatten would be Geist. Which is ghost. I think it's easier understood in the american lexicon and bears a similar meaning to the original suggestion.
Ironically there is a reservoir near me named Geist. When they dammed the river the waters flooded out several buildings...so it might actually be an accurate name. When I was a kid they were doing some work on the dam and let the reservoir drain down pretty far. And out popped the drowned buildings. Pretty spooky.

That's another difference, Marvel's Bob is a former agent of Hydra, who made a stealth crossover from the MCU to Fox's mutantverse.
