Not sure if this has been covered before but what if you could give your current group a name. I was thinking of whether there would be a mechanism for smaller 'teams' like the Fearsome Five or the Fantastic Four without requiring people to limit their supergroup size. Might make for a more memorable time grouping up with people. Could have system where group leader gains some kind of experience in order to earn the ability to name a group/team.

Group names
Well back in CoH they used to have title phrases that would float both above and below your character's name over your head. They were used for various purposes like if you wanted your guy to be named "The Amazing Captain Cool" the "The Amazing" part could be set as a separate title above your actual name. Also the GMs could award people temporary gold titles for real time events. Still another thing you could do was to set your title to the name of any badge you owned so if you had a cool/rare badge like "Immortal" you could show that off over your head.
The reason I bring all that up is that CoT could allow people to set their titles to something like your "team name" idea. This way a group could all decide to name themselves something "on the fly" without having to officially create a permanent supergroup. The key would be that the game would have to allow people to be able to type in their own completely customizable titles which is something CoH technically did not allow for. At the very least the feature would need to have the same auto-filtering the game would use for character names. Even with that people could still potentially do "naughty" things with it so there's always the chance the GMs would have to spend extra time policing that.
So there are ways to do what you're suggesting here. As always it's a matter of whether the Devs want to spend time implementing it.

I know League isn't a RPG, but I like this function of creating groups.

You can have up to a limited number of them and create only one yourself. Setting one as a primary and the this primary's tag will appear next to your name.
We wouldn't need the tag, but the name.

I made a SG for the express purpose of adding a 'title' to all of the characters in it. I had Michaelle and a friend was Gabrielle, in the SG 'The Archangelle'. <-- Not a typo, they were all female with feminized Archangel names.

Nah, my phone shouldn't get charged too often. So I won't use it while charging.

Yeah, the titles in CoH were a nice touch. I had thought about the possible issue of policing group names since we know filtering would only catch so much and we've all seen the lengths players in games will go to in order to elude filters. I guess a compromise could be something like the titles in CoH where you can only choose between certain words to create a group title. Things like "Mighty, Angry, Honourable, etc.". But it would be better if you could be completely inventive with names but yeah it would depend on the amount of effort devs would be prepared to give it.
I mean what's stopping you from having a supergroup named "the Sinister Six" and having however many members you want.
I do like the idea of nicknames for a team though

Nothing I suppose, but personally I wouldn't put a number like that in my SG name though for consistency. Just thought it might be a fun idea to run around with a team name like the "Fatal Five" or something.

The Saturday SIX. We only fight crime on Saturdays because we have...day jobs. And our wives think we are out bowling.

Ha! I love this. Have 'em all be slightly past-their-prime dad-bods, a la Bob Parr, with bad comb-overs or receding hairlines. One of them is literally in a bowling uniform because he's still not sure what's going on, but it's time with his old buddies from college.
