So, I've been doing some reading lately, and I ended up looking at vampire stories, and noticed something I don't think has been addressed in City of Titans requests thus far.
Namely, the ability to adopt travel forms.
Now, this isn't the most obvious thing, but it's a really classic trope in literature and gaming; A vampire for instance can turn into mist, letting them flow through the air. A nature-inclined spellcaster could transform into a bird to soar through the air. A robot transforms into a motorcycle to cover ground much faster. Even Astral Projection is this to a certain degree
Stuff like that. I don't know how viable it is with the way that CoT is going to handle travel powers, but it's the sort of thing that we shouldn't ignore the idea of, whether it ends up being in the game or not.
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
Well we know CoH eventually produced the Coyote Travel Power which is probably the closest CoH example to what you're talking about here.
It doesn't seem like it would be prohibitively impossible to eventually allow for various "shapechanges" connected to travel powers in CoT. Obviously these would likely have to wait until after launch but this is the kind of thing that would make perfect fodder for the in-game store.

That does sound like a fun thing to have. I would probably dump some pocket change to have different looks for travel powers to fit different characters.
Exactly two years ago we had this same discussion... sort of.
Here was my first post in it:

It'd probably be pretty simple to have those sort of aesthetics for travel powers... Though how they would interact with combat is... Less simple.
I suppose in combat you could just revert to your normal model until you're out of combat.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
IIRC, that's pretty much how the Coyote Travel Power worked in CoH.

Champions Online has “swarm” travel powers. I have a power that turns me into a cloud of bats and I can fly around.
That stops you from using combat powers when active though, doesn't it?
Edit: it's been a while since I've played Champions so my knowledge is a little hazy
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Yes the "swarm" type fly powers stops you from being able to use non self-heal abilities, CO also has some tunneling types that either just dig you down into the ground or turn you into a puddle of goo/ooze. There's most likely more in that category (stopping power use) but I don't keep tabs on them.
We are going to have wings for launch. While I am not a programmer, I don't think it would be so difficult to animate changing into a bird and flying about town.
In fact, I would LOVE to be able to do that.
The only thing that would complicate this would be the sheer variety of birds. Birds of Prey would be the first choice of many. One generic type would serve as long as we could size and color it the way we chose. (please be sure to allow for a bald eagle type for us patriotic hero types). we should also get a few beak types to choose from.
The same would work for non-predatory birds. one generic body, size and color at will, with a few extra beaks to choose and we are good to go.
its too close to launch to see this, but later as a quality of life improvement this could wwork.

Pity. It would be really cool to see an American Bald Eagle breathing a cone of fire upon evil doers.

Teleportation also stops you from fighting, but enemies can’t detect you either so it’s a fair trade-off.
Love the swarm fly abilities of CO. Would love to see Bats and Ravens/Crows/Black Birds as a travel power (have a few concepts that would go about that type of travel) and I'm sure an insect swarm would be other's fancy.
I never knew I was missing something I need to see so badly.

In Elder Scrolls Online there is a power that allows you to turn into a swarm of bats. Its not a travel power though, its just an attack but I loved the look of it so much! While I would love to see something similar, I feel it should be limited. The game needs to keep a certain aesthetic and superhero feel and seeing people flying around as clouds of paper, "cherubs" or whatever else is just way too out there....

Seems pretty Superhero to me.

And my example of some transformations too out there was cherubs and paper. Bat's is fine

Paper would be awesome. Perfect for spell book mages.
Or if you turn into what looks like papers being blown around a windy city that'd be perfect for urban legend kind of heroes.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Suddenly, a new hero emerges to turn the page on crime...
THE NOVELIST!
Now Titan City begins a new chapter, as the Novelist brings his own story of justice.

I'm down. When's the first issue?
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
That just gave me a great idea. Well, at least I think it's a great idea.
A superhero that is created by a writer out of thin air. I wonder whether I should make the author cognizant of her hero or not. Hmmm... thinking as I write this... Maybe she is writing in a Cape Chasers fan-fiction site. She isn't aware at first, but will eventually connect the dots to realize what she writes is becoming reality. His appearance will undoubtedly change as she fills in more details about him over the course of her effort. Or maybe.. oh I like this even more... maybe it is a collaborative site, so whatever people write about him in it becomes reality. So one day he's a perfect hero fighting for truth, justice and the American way; and the next, he's a tortured soul who struggles to control his impulses; and the next, he's in a romance with some guy who wrote himself into the narrative. Yeah, I like where this is going. It would be fun to play this guy. I would have to make sure he's completely ignorant of the fact that he's fictional, until and if someone writes about his awakening. But I don't think I would have them do that just yet.

Take a look at Detective Fisher in the Wearing The Cape series (he first appears in Villains, Inc) ^_^

Yes, this reminded me of Detective Fisher, too. Fisher is either his own delusional author, obsessively living his character, or a thoughtform projected by said author, who may or may not be dead... Fisher is nigh-indestructible through a limited sort of deus-ex-machina, a chain-smoking, whiskey drinking, bad diet, classical hard-boiled detective, who never gets sick. And often looks like a really bad hangover, even if he got plenty of virtuous sleep the night before, plus a hot shower and a shave in the morning. He'll be rumpled and 5 o'clock-shadowed as soon as the scene changes.
There is also 'If-Man', also from the WtC series. Who is the idealized and idolized 'perfect older brother' of a teenaged metahuman with 'projective' powers. As a hero, he has 'stretch' powers.
Be Well!
