This may not be practical for launch...I can deal with it.
But I want to use solid objects for Rangers instead of energy beams.
Orbs
Shields
Giant Hands https://black-falcon01.deviantart.com/art/Talos-Hero-Profile-720520224
Throwing Stars
Hammers (ala Thor)
Bowling Balls/Cannon Balls
Shoulder Kitties ("My Kitty is loaded and I'm not afraid to use him!")
Area of Effects will still work as normal, the shoulder kitty would explode just like a fireball and reappear back on the shoulder unharmed.
The animation can be either thrown, Fired from a firing point, or from a floating pet (the Bowler has a floating Bowling ball, or Talos has a pair of giant floating gantlets). The shoulder kitty would either launch from the shoulder or be thrown by the human.
Personally, I would pay big bucks at the Company store for these animations!
Devs, you want to do this (waves hand like a Jedi), you really do!
and I would love to see a villain ranger with a loaded shoulder kitty...I just can't think of a good name outside of Mr Biggles and Jeff. He could be a COT stock super villain. Amerikatt would have a nemesis!

I’m big on floating orbs that orbit around the head and provide various powers. Think like the Ioun Stones or Halo from Grrl Power. I would love it if that was included.
I’m not even thinking the orb as an emanation point. Rather, the orb glows when it’s “power” is being accessed, and maybe orbits faster when in combat.
A guy can dream right?
Name: Safehouse
Ranger: Gunner
Primary: Force Blast
Secondary: Atrophic Aura
Tertiary: Kinetic Melee
Travel Power: Parkour
Status: Traveling. Following rumors of a huge city in Massachusetts that is teeming with supers.
Honestly? I just want a gun. Preferably a bullpup.
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
Will this do?

When I read the title of this thread I thought you were just saying you think Rangers are cool. :-)
Spurn all ye kindle.
I've always liked the FN-P90. It's the kind of weapon anime would have invented if it didn't already exist IRL. ;)
It's cool that they are using them in Westworld as well:

English is a very flexible language and one of the fun features is the puns and plays on words that this makes possible.
As a confirmed Paronomasiac, I approve of clever word use. I recognize that this can also lead to confusion.

Good ol' Stargate. You gotta love it. Of course a P90 is classed as a Personal Defense Weapon in IRL so it could not really do anything like what this vid shows range-wise or pretty much anything O'Neill and Carter said it could do (i.e. capable at 5x range shown? please...) but that's as much a lack of knowledge of the Hollywood writer who wrote this episode as it is the silliness of Stargate in general. ;)

"in IRL"
you just doubled up on the "in" there! :p
That's fine... things like that happen more often than you'd think. For instance the DoD uses CACs (which is short for Common Access Cards) for IDs but practically everyone I work with (both civilian and military alike) still refer to them as "CAC cards" even though technically that's like saying "Common Access Card cards". ;)

Reminds me of such things as RPG games, HP points, and the like.

ATM machine is also a fairly common one.

Guns are basic...but I'm looking for thrown items like spears usable for rangers, spears, shields, floating orbs, (and some brilliant guy mentioned giant gauntlets/hands).

Basically everything you could summon with "Propel" in the old game would be good. Garbage cans, compressed gas cylinders, manhole covers, kitchen sinks, etc. An old pinball machine and/or upright arcade game cabinet would be cool too. Maybe even a copy of Cosmogulus?
R.S.O. of Phoenix Rising
I could see that. it makes for a good look.
You could play an Earth Bender, and rip boulders out of the ground and toss them at people. I would like to have a number of boulders/rocks orbiting as a sort of aura.
Try this...rip a steel girder out of a building and toss it ala Magneto....and have one just floating near by.

You know, typically, Buildings don't have 'extra' girders, so ripping one out is sure to cause structural damage that may lead to collapse.

Unless you live in the City of Titans where cinematic values protect structural integrity.

Buildings with "hero shields"? Sure why not lol.

Dammit! I use that one! I feel bad about it now!
I don't for ATM though, so that helps me feel a little better :)
I'd love to have a thrown warhammer like Thor's.
Basic attack - you throw the hammer in a straight line at one enemy with one hand, it comes back to you. or, with lightning aesthetic, you could shoot bolts of lightning from the hammer.
Medium attack - you throw the hammer with bothhands from overhead, perhaps there a bubble-like effect like it broke the speed barrier or something.
Strong attack - This would be my customized one with lightning; you raise the hammer, lightning strikes it, you spin and throw like a baseball or something.
Multi-attack - you throw the hammer like a boomerang in an arch in front of AND/OR you throw in a straight line hitting all enemies in its path. or it specifies "hit's x additional enemies within x range of target"
AoE - again, based on the lightning aesthetic, you raise the hammer, but instead of throwing it, lightning strikes in the specified area.
PBAoE - you spin with the hammer, or slam the ground causing a fissure like effect, or a lightning blast, or either of the first two with lightning effects.
Compulsively clicking the refresh button until the next update.
"Now that my hammer is charged with lightning eat baseball villains!"
*Throws normal baseball at bad guys*
I know what you meant, just the missing of the word "it" conjures up the above image.
Though speaking of baseball for solid props for rangers... Sports equipment. Without it how are Young Justice fans going to make Sports Master homages? (I'm aware sports master was around before YJ but Young Justice made him a total BA.)
