I just came up with a cool idea, starting from my superhero I've created named Darkblade. What if the superheroes of the Dark Age of Comics, such as early Image, were time-displaced and ended up in the present where they're seen with contempt as a regrettable part of superhero culture? Then they have to adapt to the modern world, which is easier said than done.
That idea is in the form of Strike Force, a Youngblood-inspired team who were government-sanctioned superheroes. They were celebrities that had merchandise and appeared on talk shows, popular with younger male crowds who thought that the idealistic superhero was "lame". Also, they killed enemies and villains indiscriminately, and acted edgy and gritty. Then in 1994 they go on a covert mission to take down a villain named Dr. Wicked, who was building a secret weapon. When they were about to kill him, he unleashed it on the Strike Force and sent them into a vortex where nothing made sense. But it only lasted 24 minutes before they were free. However, each minute represented a real world year, and they reappeared in 2018.
As mentioned, my character is Darkblade. He was the leader, a gun and sword wielding psionic with a rough childhood. Anyone here interested in this idea, with a strong reality subtext of a "dark" '90s superhero team being shunned by the public, and having to improve themselves? I thought it'd be neat.
First you need to worsen that literacy.

I laughed out loud when I read this. Truth hurts and sometimes you just have to laugh through the pain.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Yes, unfortunately.
The idea behind the team is to take a bunch of '90s "heroes" have them face the real life change in views, where they went from "cool" to "cringe", and then have them adapt to the new environment. How interesting does it sound?
It's a neat reversal on What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way? Or the events in the history of Kingdom Come.
Superman Vs. The Elite is a really good animated movie and has one of the best versions of Superman in it for me.

Fyre Stryke
A woman whose soul is bonded to a fallen angel and it allows her to control fire, and see the soul state of the person she is looking at, so she knows where they are going when they die. She tends to send those who are irredeemable to the justice they have earned.

On a side note: I REFUSE to put all the useless pouches on her costume that were so rampant in the '90s, nor does she wear an overcoat or leather jacket.

That's pretty good! So far we got Darkblade and Fyre Stryke, anyone else got ideas for this team?
It's a lady character, so just have her have that one lady that Rob Liefeld can draw.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
You need a Wolverine clone.
Grimm Wulf
Blood Savage
Kill Klaw
Blüd Klaw
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Yeah but at least Liefeld can draw her twice on the same cover and even change her hair color. ;)

That was Ripclaw, wasn't it? Wait, nevermind, that was Cyber Force, not Codename: Strykeforce. My mistake.

Riptygre!
He fights with claws and teeth and somehow is extremely agile despite having giant spiked shoulderpads held down with crossed bandoliers covered in (Grenades? Shotgun shells? Vials of medicine? Doesn’t matter, he never does anything with them.)
He also has skin-tight chrome banded spandex pants. And a mask that frames his face but doesn’t actually cover any of it. And he’s always gritting his fanged teeth.
He’s super fast and strong and he doesn’t have a “healing factor” but in combat his rage is strong enough he basically feels no fear or pain until the danger is over.
Forgot to add, he needs a background and “personality”. Okay, he was found by explorers living like an animal in a South American jungle. They sedated him and brought to the US for study and “rehabilitation”. He was experimented on by a research company contracted to the military but he escaped. He has no knowledge of his past before the jungle.
He’s a loose cannon who hates authority but has a primitive code of honor and can be trusted if he gives his word. He stays distant from people but those few he is close to he’ll defend to the death.
Whor Torn
Whor Torn wields prehensile pouches and invisible feet with mystical energy that she builds by bouncing her butt off the fourth wall. Her inevitably shredded costume accentuates her spinal impossibilities as she kamikazes her way through a medical center, proactively slaying everyone since they have clearly aligned themselves with the villains she hospitalized during her last Xsanguination. Second cousin of Rip.

"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
That picture is great! I was just going to post they need to add all the pouches and chest strap elements to the costume creator to make this team work. Then all the characters need to have those over exaggerated muscles.
I had the idea for a character called The Liefeldian when I was playing CO.
He'd be an alien from a planet who's men are all the giant muscle-bound scowly men liefeld draws, and all the women would be that one woman liefeld draws. He'd carry a huge gun, have pouches, and probably talk like he's written by Frank Miller "You KNOW, with the EMPHASIS on RANDOM words."

This reminds me of a Leifeldian parody I came up with. His name is Overkill, and he's a tongue-in-cheek, hugely muscled gun nut. He comes from an alternate version of the 90s with a Terminator like mission to prevent our world from suffering the same post apocalyptic fate as his. The joke is that everyone tries to explain to him that we've made it through the 90s without incident, so now he's more or less a useless, ultra violent relic. His no nonsense demeanor just serves as the wet blanket of the team.
You realize Overtkill was an actual Image Comics character?
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/overtkill/4005-26135/
He was Spawn’s first nemesis but also fought Liefeld’s Youngblood.
He was originally called Overkill but since Guardians of the Galaxy already had a character with that name they added the “T”.
Maxim 37: There is no "overkill." There is only "open fire" and "time to reload." ^_^
But seriously, if you don't add the "t", there are more comics-related Overkills, including the above mentioned alias of Taserface, a GI Joe villain, and a Marvel UK anthology.
Edit: didn't see that last line of Atama's. Stupid tablet touchscreen.

...year 1 of Image was it's best year (IMO). specifically WildCATs and Cyberforce.

Yep!

WildCATs was pretty good.
I liked Spawn too and a couple short lived ones they put out but the names are escaping me at the moment.

Invincible is best image comic.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
My favorite was Savage Dragon personally.
It’s also still going. :)
I liked so many!
Gen-13. Dv8. Cyber-Force. Wet Works. Original team of WildC.A.T.s :)
My favorite was The Maxx.

How could I forget The Tenth and Andrenalynn! Gah! So many missed titles :(
I forgot about Gen13 and Wet Works I liked those too!

I liked anything with Grifter. I felt he was the gun-slinging Gambit of the Wildstorm / Image Universes. I mean, c'mon, his name was Cole Cash, what's not to cringe-like about that?
Edit: I think it was the red face mask. I don't even like the color red, but Strider Hiryu, Grifter, the Shadow, Auron, Vincent Valentine, etc; if you put a red scarf/cowl/mask on someone, I'll probably like it.
I call BloodGun!
Seriously, though; this might be fun. Make a super-jacked character with a ton of pouches and belts all over his body for indeterminate reasons.
Don't forget the scowly face and Young Blood's Disease.
