So basically, I'm working on a character design for a guy who has become the master of what I'm calling a 'Hell Forge.' I've mentioned this before on the forums, but I'll go over it here for clarity.
This Hell Forge is a pocket dimension of hell, if you will, that's sole purpose is to create weapons infused with all of the suffering and hate imaginable that it's gathered up over the millennia. Think an evil blacksmith factory that literally does nothing but pump out hardware all the time, constantly testing and improving.
My character, through the rituals of a cult, has been made 'Master' of this forge, which means he gets access to its full arsenal of various pointy objects. Not to mention, this cult is now introducing modern weapons to the Forge, meaning that it's starting to produce hell's own particular brand of firearms, up to/including molten-bullet spewing miniguns. In order to bring these devices of death into our world though, the 'Master' has to use his own blood as a catalyst in an ancient ritual to open up a portal directly into the Forge, out of which the "willing and happy workers" of the Forge dump their handiwork, supplying him with whatever tool he needs for whatever given situation. He can basically 'rip' weapons out of thin air, making him extremely versatile in a combat situation.
He's also turned this arrangement into a tidy little business venture, supplying demonic-infused guns to many different gangs and terrorist groups. This has made him fairly wealthy, as you can imagine. I mean, you can buy normal flamethrowers... or you can buy flamethrowers that spit Hellfire and can sear flesh from bone nearly instantly.
Of course, as with most dealings with hell, there's a catch. You see, there have been many Forge Masters before... All through human history, someone has held the reigns, but a price is always exacted. The more you use the Forge, the longer in the end your soul will have to serve it. The Forge is filled with the ghosts of its former 'Masters,' all slaving to keep the demonic machines roaring, dumping corpses into the furnaces to power the creation of infinite weapons, forever doomed to serve the will of the Forge.
Obviously, the Forge Master is a no-brainer in terms of naming conventions here, but I'd love to come up with something a little more original than that.
Have they named themselves or is this a name the media gave them? As from a media stand point he'd probably be named for his use of weapons, rather than his forgey background.
But as for names
Hell Forged
The Blacksmith
Ironwrought
Forge Fire (if he uses fire or flamethrower weapons)
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
He's probably named himself, or at least been named by this cult that follows him. I LOVE the Blacksmith. That's an awesome name, and now I'm just kicking myself for not thinking of it first. xD
I would say Arsenal, but there may be some confusion there as a couple books are out about a character with the same name. Totally different concepts though...

Hephaestus Cornelius - Mustachioed Master of the Forge
Hammer McForgeface
Dr. Forgenstein

Count BlackenSmithy
Admiral DevilFire of Newport New Jersey
I can do this all day.
You never said they had to be good.
Yes! Hammer McForgeFace! DEFINITELY that one. We can all go home now, people... The name has been found!
This reminds me of the naming of Boaty McBoatface a few years ago. ;)

There's nothing wrong with being inspired by something. Batman was inspired by a bat. Hammer McForgeFace's origin could be inspired by Boaty McBoatface.
I one up and vote for The Blacksmith-it sounds like something he would name himself, and also something he could be called by other members of the underworld.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Faurge - mashup of Forge and Faust
Guy Forge - also sets parliament fires or plays 'ennis
