First of all, let me wish a very merry and productive New Years to the whole Dev Team! You guys and gals are AWESOME!
Second, I wish a Happy New Years to my Fellow Titans! Less than a year to go, Titans!
2018 will be the year the city comes to life. This thread is to toss out wishes for things we want to see in the city.
1) These do not need to be things available at launch...it sounds like launch features are pretty much set in stone right now.
2) NOR to they need to be practical. You wish may not be realistic and you will get bonus points if a Dev posts," LOL."
Commanders and Gunners are two things I will be playing extensively and I will just need to be patient - good things comes to they who wait.
My wishes: more may come out later.
Reasonable:
1) I want to participate in a costume contest soon after the creator comes out. I don't need to win a thing, I just want to participate.
2) I want more information on mods we can make to the game. I am no programmer, but I really want to play with mods and post my videos on Youtube.
3) I want to know the release date with enough time to schedule a week off just to play.
4) I want to know the name and location of the Pizza place where location emotes allow me to sit down and eat a slice of pizza with my team.
Not for launch:
1) Gunners and Commanders. Nuff said.
2) Giant Floating Fists as props for Super strength and massive melee and as floating pets
Silly
1) I want a physics Lab at a university with a Door Labeled:Dr Lothic and Dr Psiclops. You can hear the music of, "Never gonna get it. Never Never gonna get it!" coming from inside.
2) I want a program that will kick in where gold farmers, and spammers trigger a boss with endless hit points that looks like Tannim with a red crowbar to attack them.
3) I want an alley full of cats and a poster with a picture of AmeriKatt: Just say NO to catnip!

Global Notes like CoH/V had. As a moderator for a very active channel on my home server, these were immeasurably valuable.
Channel member limits above 2500.
The option to /hide server-side and or /ghide.
I don't want to be mean, but I'd like to be able to shove RPers into a pocket-dimension, so I don't have to listen to them flirting with each other, while I'm trying to get my Banking/Marketing done. Perhaps that means setting the 'range' of the /emote channel to ten feet. Perhaps that means setting a zone of silence over those businesses. Perhaps that means public 'privacy booths', where the exhibitionists can go wild, without offending passers-by. Oh, what about a 'Get a Room' power that applies one of these solutions to them?
And I don't mean the people who toss in a bit of emoting while they're adventuring, those people can be fun. I mean the ones that plant themselves in a location and 'socialize' out loud. There are channels for talking, but these folks generally sit and monopolize the /emote channel.
Also, please don't think I'm arguing against the occasional bit of 'street theatre'. I once caught Ascendant's show and applauded wildly. I've seen a Mastermind put on a skit with his pets that was Masterful.
I play the game to satisfy my own fantasies and enjoy my own story, not to wade through the... soup that others are spewing.
Be Well!

Most MMO's these days give you the option to customize your chat channels. So you could probably just turn off the emotes in the tab you're in and you won't see them anymore? A much simpler solution than creating a very specific no roleplaying zone :P
Well, I do like the idea of customizing my chat so it's orderly. My New Years wishes is plenty of RP locations for fun! Not all Rp is the flirting type some of us Rpers want interactive stories.
-------------------------------------------
Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
The RP "problem" is easily solved by having numerous RP locations that are away from anything mechanically necessary (important NPCs, banks, markets, etc) then RPers will be more likely to go there than hang out near things of import.
My new years wish for this game would be these RP locations. It sucks having the only place to go to find people be a bar or a club. Being a player that plays a bunch of teen heroes it's problematic to have those places be the only places people can/do congregate. Give us malls, arcades, coffee shops, pizza places, diners, etc. Have them be part of the open world and not seperate instances so people are more likely to go there.
Oh and anywhere that has rules (like pocket D supposedly did) have them be shown somewhere so people don't needlessly argue about stuff like that. Being able to collect lore objects about places could be a good way to do those.
Oh oh, and also can we have somewhere official where the lore is? So players don't get into stupid arguments about say, the legal rights of vampires, or if heroes need to register, or whatever? Like, just having an easy to read easy to use Lore directory would be nice. Especially if players don't have to make it themselves. It might be a lot of work and I'm sure people would use it maliciously (see, it says right here by the lore your character can't exist!) But it'd still be good to have.
Went off on a bit of a tangent there.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
I'm not trying to kill RP and I don't actually want to kill /emotes. I just don't want to have to listen to a bunch of exhibitionists improvising a bad soap opera while I'm at the Bank/Market because, in those locations, I Can't just go somewhere else. If I shut off the /emotes channel, then I won't be able to appreciate my teammate's cool battlecry. For me, it's simpler to just enforce politeness, by squelching /emotes in certain locations. Just like the squelched Power-spam in Wentworths'.
Be Well!

Now don't start an argument. I was trying to have a little fun teasing myself. This is the end of 2017 let's end it without getting into a fight.

My only wish for 2018 is for the game to come out, in any form. That's all I need from 2018 :)

Having two separate chat tabs solves that one! One for teaming where you can still see emotes and your teammate's battlecry's. The other for shopping or whatever else you're doing where you've turned off emotes. That way the RPers don't feel like they're being forced to not RP in certain areas, and the non-RPers don't feel forced to listen to them RP. Best of both worlds.
First off, there's [Spoilers], which would be very handy if a tad difficult. There's also [Redacted], [Classified] and [This would summon Cthulhu if actually read]. You know how it is on the other side of the wall - I can't give any details. :)
(Obviously, this post is made in complete jest to keep the mood light and celebratory)
It is only when we stand up, with all our failings and sufferings, and try to support others rather than withdraw into ourselves, that we can fully live the life of community.

Though that reminds me that I need to get a spoiler tag put into this thing.

You mean one where you click a button to "reveal" the spoiler

Somewhere out there there's a "collapse.js" script I can grab which makes a box that starts off as a single line (the title) and then expands the rest of the text or whatever beneath it when clicked.
To use it, you'd write BBCode like:
[code][notag][collapse=This is the title.]Spoilers here or whatever else you want to hide.[/collapse][/notag][/code]
So it starts off looking like:
[table][tr][td]This is the title.[/td][/tr][/table]
then you click it and it turns into:
[table][tr][td]This is the title.[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Spoilers here or whatever else you want to hide.[/td][/tr][/table]
Click it again to collapse it back.
I don't know how compatible it would be with things like YouTubes inside it.

That'll definitely come in handy, it will be much better than the usual:
