We are about a year away from release. What do you want to see in the cinematics? Every game has them.
I want to see a tribute to Amerikatt! or at least a nod to the iconic player soon to grace the City of Titans. Even if the Katt is not seen, maybe an NPC cry, "If only Amerikatt was here!"
I also want to see Anthem hoist the American flag.
Dr Tyche (the villain, not the Dev) on the rampage, falling in defeat, and his giant robots rising from the ocean threatening the city.
The words "You too can be a hero!" and we see some nerdy guy pick up a red crowbar, and then he is buffed out in a costume!

The crowbar one would make for a great ad. *Lifts crowbar, transforms ala dr. Blake into Thor*
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Thank-you for the support, Cyke! If only the Devs would follow your recommendation!

at some point in the intro cinematic I'd really love to see some nod to our lost home in CoH/V. It'd have to be subtle and non-specific I know but, even now, I kinda still feel that loss mixed with the hope of CoT :3
Maybe we can also get some dialogue about a lost city, a great city, nay a Paragon of Cities. Just an idea for some NPC dialogue there.
Edit: Thinking about it you could use that in an ad for city of Titans... "A great city, a city of heroes, a city of villains, a Paragon of Cities, a... CITY OF TITANS!" Would that land anyone in trouble?
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
The only situation where I think it would be appropriate to put references to player characters in any cinematics is when the cinematic applies to specific content and the featured player characters are the ones doing that content (as the old game did one or twice near the end) so that everyone would see themselves.
I do understand the rare exception for a player that contributed a lot and unfortunately passed away, like Ascendant, but I don't think the devs should go further than that.
Spurn all ye kindle.

For the main trailer:
No narrator. Highlight what CoT has to offer, and differentiate it from the other emerging hero games. Show the large city with people moving quickly through it with hybrid travel powers and attacking/getting attacked. Show a quick scene of selecting power looks to show of aesthetic decoupling and another quick shot of the costume maker. Since the other games aren't planning on having any non-human-looking pieces at start, be sure to show some freaks in the crowds.
That's the first minute. Now it's time for a really short story. Show a big hang-out spot full of player characters dancing/partying. Then, a hero or villain gets into a fight and it turns into a brawl. Finally, the hang-out spot gets attacked by some unifying external threat and the heros and villains both have to fight it, alongside some big name paragons and crime lords.
And do it all to this song:
I am actually kinda 'meh' on cinematics. the reason being it is an open world and while there is a 'story' happening, it is in the background. the end result of such stories, especially in this setting, means that nothing really changes. After all, I am here to play the game not watch a movie. not to mention, I would rather the time and effort be spent on improving the game itself versus making a mini-movie. ....and yes, I am aware that my thoughts are probably not in line with the majority. :p
having said that, I would like to see them be short and to the point. I don't need 5/10 minute mini-epics. An opening narration is fine, it can help set the tone and feel of the world. otherwise, in gameplay itself...keep em short an sweet if they are to be included.

To the OP,
While I enjoyed the few cinematics that CoH/V had, I felt that it was money and/or effort that could've gone towards something else. My opinion is fairly similar here.
The one special moment which could be cool la when your reach the level max.
I remember my First max level and it was really ultra great ^^ (and my First time was on COH)

This calls for ... a NOSTALGIA TRIP!

Although, to be fair, I think that Samuraiko Productions is more in keeping with the kind of thing we'd want to see MWM producing along these lines ...

Of course, if that's too much, there's always ... doing stuff like this ...

The question is : will cinematics be there at launch ? or even, do cinematics will exist in CoT ?

They showed some animations and lighting and such that can be used in cutscenes... So I assume there's at least the good possibility of them but how in-depth and numerous those are will remain to be seen.

Lets get some WoW type cinematics! :P

I am confident that any cinematics in City of Tabbies will make us go ... WOW!

NO CINEMATIC TRAILERS!!!!!
It's a waste of money and tells you nothing, NOTHING about the game. You can watch one and not even know that genre it is.
No!

Cinematics are pretty nifty! After the first run-through, we need to have the option to ESC out of it if we do not want to see it again.

This. A thousand times this. There's so many times when I re-play an old game then get into a long unskippable cutscene and just ugggghhhh.... Or even short ones that you've seen billions of times! I need to skip these things.

Cinematic TRAILERS
In-game cinematics are badass!

Just take in game footage and play it to an awesome song that sounds like it might work for a superhero genre and make sure the animations are in synch with the song!
Simon Curtis' Superhero comes to mind.
I was thinking about this... I think Id like less cinematics, more cinegraphic cutscenes. Kinda like SWTOR does, your character in their outfit, your companions as you have them looking...
just one thing... PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THE GODS A REPLAY BUTTON.
FF14 has a book in your "home" instance in the various inns you can visit (basically just an inn room, though for us it'd probably be a whole base) that works like this - it lets you replay any cutscenes you've seen previously, including dungeons, raids, story content, and various others. It'd be really nice to have that available in CoT, though i imagine it'd take some extra coding work.
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
A replay function and for the love of my sanity a skip cutscene button. Replaying Borderlands 1+2 has made me realize how much that's needed. Even on the smaller cutscenes.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Interestingly, I suggested that in #21, and you responded in #22!
YES! Having the ability to skip cinematics with the ESC button would be *VERY* welcomed! They have it in DCUO (thank The Great Mother!) and Borderlands. I imagine that other games have it as well!
PLEASE!
Thank-you!

yeah STO has some unbreakable cutscenes and they are the source of much angst and nerdrage... esp for those with 50 alts
The ones in the Borderlands series are really bad for being unskippable. I make a lot of characters on that to try out new builds or because coming back to an older character is hard for me I forget what they were doing, what the plan was, etc. I don't know how many times in 2 I've met Hammerlock, Marcus, Dr. Zed, Scooter, Dr. Tannins, seen the knuckle dragger cutscene, Boom Bewm, Captain Flynt, and that's just in the first couple of hours of gameplay. Each one is probably less than a minute long but oh my god I probably know the scenes off by heart now.
Edit: and also in your following playthroughs (new game plus and new game plus plus essentially) you have to watch them again!
