At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Alpha/beta Footage

Obviously (I think) this won't be for a while, but is MWM planning on uploading youtube videos of the first alpha/beta footage that the CoT team undergoes? I realize this might not be so for obvious reasons...we might only see bugs, problems, not the final product, etc....but I'm just curious when MWM will show actual game footage, more or less of the finished product. They have a alpha release in Dec-ish 2018, right? So would that be it or might they release something a little before then? This would probably be just speculation by any non-MWM personnel unless there is a post somewhere I've missed?

Forgive me..my patience is near non-existent for this game.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

I would assume they will

I would assume they will considering they've uploaded some work in progress stuff already/before. That and I'm sure that the community will also upload alpha and beta footage when they're able to.

And when that does happen all of us who aren't in the closed alpha/beta/whatever will just have to sit back, watch, drool, and wait.

I don't want to see bugs but

I don't want to see bugs but simple game play...maybe street sweeping in a Twitch episode while another Dev answers questions.

That said: I'll bet this years Christmas video will be spectacular!

Emphasis mine.

They are actually aiming for stable/live launch during Fall 2018, though they haven't set a specific month.

Yeah to be clear the word "alpha" when used in the context of software development usually specifically applies to the very first unit/build testing of a particular product. Technically speaking in order to meet an "end of 2018" target date the MWM Devs are hopefully already testing various internal alpha builds right now.

I realize that jtpaull was using the word "alpha" in a more layman-ish way to describe the "launch release" version of the game, but since you mentioned it I figured I'd throw in my two cents as well. Might as well use the terms in the right way in order to avoid any extra confusion.

Yeah, to give another example

Yeah, to give another example: Alpha testing for Camelot Unchained has lasted over a year. And I'm talking about the alpha testing where backers like me have been participating. Beta testing was supposed to have started by now, but that has been relegated to soonTM. I'm okay with that, but that's me. Your mileage may vary.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

The term of alpha has morphed

The term of alpha has morphed from its original meaning in gaming design due to early access.

CU’s alpha is not what alpha used to mean. It has been in variaous stages of prototype.

It used to be that prototype is putting various systems together and testing them for functionality.

Alpha is when all of your launch systems are tested, mainly working, and all in place. Alpha was where you primarily hunted down big bugs and did some basic refining of systems. Once all big bugs are found, the game is largely stable, all of your launch systems working, you were in beta. Normally, no one innthe public sees your alpha build.

Beta is where you made things look pretty, further refined systems, and squashed small bugs. Occasionally, a big bug may have gotten through Beta (and lately in gaming this has occured more often for several actually rather valid reasons), but hopefully found and either ready for launch or they cannbebsquashed prior to launch. Beta is where you used to begin showing some stuff to the public.

As I said earlier, early access has caused much of the meaning for what alpha used to be.

When Alpha became a marketing

When Alpha became a marketing term, it's meaning became lost.

I think you should take a look at CU's alpha before you make claims like you just did. I think you will find that it has been, in fact, very much old-school alpha.

I would agree it is closer now. Not when it initially started. Nothing against them at all. It is just how the industry has / is (?) changing. For example, they are releasing a new system they’ve been internally testing,

Which means their alpha build isn’t complete. Traditionally, it shouldn’t be called alpha, but still a prototype. As Dr. T has said, marketing has changed what it used to mean.

The first Alpha I ever saw

The first Alpha I ever saw was the Doom Alpha.

In that, the enemies were immobile, had no animation, and could not fight back.
