Always annoyed me that I could not get an AT shirt back in the day, so wanted to make sure we had that available.

Great for IRL PUGs! Now you can declare to everyone what archetype you are!
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Very nice selection especially the AT shirts. Will have to budget some money next payday to purchase a few things. A suggestion for more shirts however. Perhaps you could get shirts made with each member of the Paragons on them. And Rottweiler or whatever his name will be too. Would definitely purchase a couple of them as well.

Also faction shirts! Maybe I want to be an Aether Pirate! Yarrr!

We should have a Hyjinx shirt up shortly as well.

Besides the fact that I really don't like the icons for Operator, Commander and Ranger, I do think that having archetype shirts is nice.
Here's what I don't like about the icons:

Operator looks like a random assembly of purple shapes without meaning or imparting any feel of the archetype. Complete failure.

Using something akin to a first sergeant's insignia for the commander says "soldier" far more than it does "commander;" especially when "Commander" is an actual military rank (0-5) represented by a silver oak leaf.

The Ranger icon looks to be a combination of various targeting reticles, but there is not enough contrast for any of them to actually look like targeting reticles. As a result it just looks like a white box around a featureless square red gem, surrounded by a gray industrial courtyard. Probably not what you were going for.
Also, it appears as if the key color of the enforcer logo is missing. Where is the orange? On the merchandise, it looks like you've replaced the orange with blue.
And no, I have not waited until now to provide this feedback. I provided the same input in march when they were first introduced and again in April when the What We Can Do: Powers update came out.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Operator symbols seems to be a lot of Interlocking shapes. Locking things down and seeing how everything fits together seems to be elements of the class.
I'm sure a leaf would confuse people way more than a military looking symbol for a commander.
Ranger looks like a sophisticated targetting reticle to me. Dunno what to tell you there.
You don't have to like them though.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Actually Project_Hero, if you would choose to go to those links you will find a lot of discussion of those shapes. There are even some alternates proposed by the forum participants. You can be an apologist if you like, but they are still very poor examples of iconography and graphics art.
Just go to this page and click the various classes to see each has an icon that embraces and imparts what the class entails.
Heck, even CoX had a more meaningful icon for Masterminds.

And it (CoX) also had a weird signal tower thing for controllers. And what looked like a sonic boom from street fighter for scrappers. And four dots for tanker.
Edit: Also if you look at the CoX mastermind symbol a certain way it looks like three guys standing in a tunnel.
Edit 2: I don't know if it's because I'm on my phone but that link doesn't have any icons. Just pictures of characters.
Edit 3: also is it being an apologist if I actually like the designs on these completely subjective pieces of art and attempted to shed light on what I believe to be good about their designs?
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
The first emblem still looks terrible :(

:P
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Doesn't make it wrong :p
The thing about opinions is they can't really be either right or wrong. Art is, as always, subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (but also anti-magic cones, and a crap load of lasers!) And all that.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
I think that hoodie has my name on it.

Absolutely not. But if you had just said you liked them instead of trying to rationalize against my opinion, then I wouldn't have called you an apologist. ...because, that is, after all, the actual definition of apologist.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
"a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial"
Stretching the definition a bit here, aren't you? We have a disagreement of opinion over a thing. I was merely offering my view on the thing. I think something needs to be universally accepted as being bad before you can really call someone an apologist for it.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
FWIW, I agreed with you then and I agree with you now. But putting something on a T-shirt is probably as "fait accompli" as you can get these days. For the record, I also cringe every time I read the "Answer the Call" slogan too. But I've discovered you should pick your battles carefully on the forum... and even then the decisions are just as likely go another way as yours. Nothing wrong with having an opinion however... especially a good one like the above ;)
It is indeed! Yay, someone who knows the actual definition!
I studied the Apologetics for a GURPS campaign back in the day.

Much like Huckleberry, I don't care much for the Commander's symbol either. I actually thought "So, they're NCOs or have a military theme to them?" when looking at it.
Didn't hate the Operator one, but I did think "X-Men doors?" :p
The enforcer's fist looks like it's some sort of "Chant your groups name for power!" rally thing. :p Why the first for melee and not crossed swords? Batons? Brass Knuckles? Maybe just a Nike symbol :p I don't know. Fist really just screams "Welcome to the rally!" :p
Oh! Checking on my phone I only saw the CoT hoodie. I think the TCPD hoodie will win out.

I like what I see here. I am a hoodie fan, and I will likely end up buying both.
Expressing the opinion on the topic of art or the naming structure is noteworthy because MWM sorta brought up the topic again. But there really doesn't need to be any discussion on either of the topics. MWM has already decided to go this route no matter how much we voice our opinions to the contrary. And they are even further entrenched now that they have hard physical merchandise to prop up their decisions. We all know it was a long hard fought battle just to get MWM to concede the Commander / Operator name swap even amidst the calls for wholesale changes.
Our efforts should probably be focused on creating an after market naming and art scheme to suit our preferences. We get to design our supers from the ground up, why not design the ground too?
"Just, well, update your kickstarter email addresses, okay? Make sure they're current?" - warcabbit
They could still change things. All it means is the shirts/hoodies would have the original, but now, not used, symbols. :p
I like the artwork for the AT shirts and will probably buy a couple once I have a chance to play the game and decide which are my favourites.
To add to KnightMask's request, any chance we can get a shirt with the concept art with 7 Paragons on it? I'd buy that now.

Indeed. If you notice, the CoT logo has changed, so those who bought the shirts with the original logo now have a no longer available, retired item.

Is the argument, that the fist logo is suckie? Cause, I will totally rehash that! >_>;;
It is an invitation to make a topic for the argument. We're still a year from release, so if a solid argument and suggestion hits, well, who knows.

Definitely going to get some of these! Would still love to see some of that awesome Paragons concept art from the Spandex update on merchandise. As far as argumentation... everyone has opinions.
One of the things that has consistently impressed me about MWM is how they neither ignore nor are overly reactive to forum criticism. They stick to their guns yet listen and consider things frankly.
This gives me confidence in MWM's ability to develop CoT, and post-launch to run and continue to develop it, by listening and responding to players without letting the vocal minority pull the game off the rails.

Considering the Operator.
Perhaps something that touches on the concept of a puppetmaster like this:

I like the orientation of the first, but the colors of the second.
but we need to somehow capture the idea that we aren't just controlling our targets as much as we are controlling their environment, which in turn controls our targets. Thus by the transitive property we are controlling our targets.
So rather than putting a marionette under the puppetmaster's hand, I would put a warped surface of concentric waves under the hand, kind of like this:

Concentric waves (I recommend conducting a google image search) are reminiscent of gravity phenomenon, mesmerism, and the radiation of effects from a source, all of which are Control power set concepts.
I don't have the image editing software necessary for combining the concepts into a single image, but hopefully the combination of a puppetmaster's hand over a field of concentric waves would make a good symbol for the Operator archetype.

Wouldn't a puppet master theme be more fitting for the commander? The person who literally controls smaller minions?
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
The concept of a controlling hand above the battlefield is what I was going for, not necessarily an actual puppetmaster. Perhaps my attempt to describe the image as that of a puppetmaster's hand took you down a path I had not intended. I was relying on the image of the hand to trigger an association with one who controls and manipulates. Kind of trying for this vibe:

Even if someone takes the image literally as that of a puppetmaster, however, we still wouldn't be incorrect. Because when you look at what the abilities in the Control power sets actually do, they are all about controlling the movements and actions of unwilling sentient beings.

Could use a controller. Like Video game controller. Or some other sort of input device. Or something utilizing chess imagery. I dunno I'm not an artist. I'd worry about it not being a simple symbol, though. A shield is a really simple and really effective symbol...
I dunno maybe a D-Pad? It's part of a controller... Is that a pun?
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
The chessboard imagery is a good one.

Just checking, operator is control and commander is minions...right?
Also, I dig the archetype shirts, but the CoT logo throws it off for me :/

Now that you mention it, it does for me as well. Base of the neck in the back would be a great place to put the CoT logo. Kind of like how Crunchyroll does theirs:

Best location for the City of Titans logo would have been on a sleeve above the cuff facing off to the side (the Tabula Rasa shirts I've got in my closet from NCSoft do this). As is, that CoT logo is just going to get "lost" anytime someone sits down because it'll disappear into the waist folds. If the person is moving, it's rather unlikely that the logo will be visible/legible, simply due to the way that hanging cloth moves.

On the back or arm would have increased the cost by $5 each, a high price for branding alone. We looked into that

Ah, I was wondering what the surcharge for that would be. So we're looking at a +25% markup in price for relocating a branding ... an option that was not selected. Good to know.

If you notice we have one shirt with a back graphic, the TCPD SVU shirt, and it is priced higher due to that factor alone.

I'm going to agree with some of the others: A lot of the logos aren't great, like the Commander one giving the complete wrong message. Looks like an enlisted soldier's chevrons.

Personally I like the archetype logos. But that's me.
Also, is there any plan to have a PIT hoodie at some point? I like TCPD, but since I plan to have my main work closely with/for PIT I like the idea of wearing one of those hoodies while i play :)
Name: Safehouse
Ranger: Gunner
Primary: Force Blast
Secondary: Atrophic Aura
Tertiary: Kinetic Melee
Travel Power: Parkour
Status: Traveling. Following rumors of a huge city in Massachusetts that is teeming with supers.
If I recall correctly, those logos are the more "elaborate" ones, and there are much simpler ones going to be developed? I'm curious to see what the simple versions look like. If they look more like the power tray icons that were shown off in the last livestream, I think I would like those much better. These ones just seem a bit "fancy" for practical use in-game.
As for the logos themselves, I think the Stalwart, Ranger and Enforcer work best - the shield, reticle and fist pretty much encapsulate what the classes are all about, but the rest are a little different. I'm not sure what the Guardian symbol is even supposed to be, and I'm not sure what the "X" in the Operator is supposed to represent. I can see what the military-style Commander logo is supposed to inspire, but there may be a better way to represent it in a way that says "this is a pet class".
Maybe when you get the iconography or "language" for the individual power icons nailed down you can re-visit this and maybe incorporate some of those ideas into the final class logos themselves.
The operator's logo is a D-Pad. You're just looking at it the wrong way :p
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
I think having to be told how to look at the logo is all the proof we need that it is inadequate. Now, if the four directions each had an arrow associated with it, or included the shapes that Sony uses to great advantage in their marketing for the Playstation, then maybe the idea would come across that it is a D-pad.
Besides it is the X of the negative space, accentuated by the X in the middle that is the takeaway from the current operator's logo. And then there is that enigmatic black shape in the background that appears to be made up of two vertical trapezoids.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
I don't disagree there. The design is muddled visually from being what it's supposed to be. I'd suggested in the other thread lightening the color of the negative space so it's less eye catching.
The overall design, I feel, isn't bad but it might need some tweaking.
Edit: maybe changing the background part to match with more of the foreground. Cause there's a shape in the background that looks like an X with a line through the center maybe if it was more of a + then it'd add more with the foreground + of the D-Pad. It works well for the top and bottom parts, anyway.
