I have been accompanying for a long time, but rarely put, partly because I do not speak English ... But I will try here ...
What do you have, they think, for the powers of transport?
Fly?
Super speed?
Super jump?
Teleport?
All, right? They are typical and tradicional. ok!
Got new ideas? Can you talk about? Do they accept suggestions?
Could teleport between certain points (like telephone booths)? Electric locomotion (electric cables)?
Some kind of teleportation (including between maps) by marking an object in one place? (type, the teleport runes of the game last online, but using an object of the scenario ... just an idea).
I believe that even if you can not invent something other than flying, running, jumping (acrobatics) and teleportation, you have to invent variations to leave a different power.
Sorry my english, i try and use google translate! :)
Hugs for all... and, if you have alternative ideias or new power travel, describe, let's help with ideas! :)

Parkour, Swing, Grapnel, Spider Climb, Flight, Superjump, Superspeed and Teleport

I really love the idea of electric locomotion along power cables! Let's call it electromotion.
This could be problematic inside instances, however, because there would have to be a designed means to prevent an electromotivator from zapping herself through the wiring all the way to the final room.
I think the easiest way to get around that problem would actually end up adding flexibility. To wit, divorce the electromotion from the need to travel along wires. Make it a fully formed transformation into electric energy that can zoom along surfaces, and wires, and jump like lightning across airspace to other objects. The mechanics would be like a combination of superspeed with grapnel or teleport. In fact, if we do this we wouldn't even need to limit ourselves to electricity any more. It would work just as well for a smoke transformation, and swarm transformation or a slime transformation. I know I've just taken the idea well beyond what you initially proposed, but the freedom to go places beyond cables would be necessary, I think, to keep it on par with other travel powers.
And your idea of travel between items just gave me an aesthetic option for the teleport power: If any of you have ever seen a miguel jump in ID-0 (it's out on Netflix now) then you will easily grasp my idea.
Basically, the idea is that you shoot or throw an object and then teleport to it. The act of throwing or shooting would take the same 2 second cast time as the other aesthetic options for it. (it was 2 seconds in CoX, so I'm using that cast time as a placeholder here) I think such an aesthetic would work better for some character concepts than the straight teleport animation we had in CoX. The option to press a button on your body such as your wrist or your chest should also be available or in combination with these.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Welcome to aesthetic decoupling and travel powers.

Cool, that's the idea, to debate and encourage creativity! You can not get away from the traditional ones, but modify them, rather than on "themes" to appear to be different! :)
Do you know about record runes for teleportation in ultima online? Interesting something between maps.
:)

Will there be a super parkour?!
If Parkour will be balanced (more or less) against Swing, Grapnel, Spider Climb, Flight, Superjump, Superspeed, and Teleport, then IMO, having Super Parkour would necessitate Super Swing, Super Grapnel, Super Spider Climb, Super Flight, Super Superjump, Super Superspeed, and Super Teleport.
So, on consideration, I hope so!

I just want Super Parkour to jump nicely between two buildings :) Would also like a Motorcycle travel power! :)
"Hey, who are we waiting for?"
"The leader."
"Where is he?"
"Oh, he chose parkour as a travel power so he's back flipping and jumping over small obstacles on his way over here. Shouldn't be much longer."

I've been arguing for a 'Summon Taxi' travel power, ever since the old MWM forums.

Yeah that kind of thing is bound to happen. On the other hand I knew guys who didn't even have an "official" travel power in CoH who always managed to use either temp powers or other tricks to keep up with everyone else without making anyone "wait" for them.

I actually thought about Livewire from this show but hasn't there been other comic book characters who've done this before? This can't be the only reference to this kind of thing.

I can't currently (no pun intended... Okay kind of intended) think of any other character with that specifically. However, Static Shock flew around on a disc that he charged with electricity. He had a mentor who traveled by surfing on the powerlines as was mentioned above.
That's the closest I can think of.

You did it well :)
I'm french and i understood what you wrote ^^
As tannim22 said : aesthetic decoupling for travel power !
Fly inturning ourslevs in a bird
Teleport througt a portal or by standing smoke behind (like diablo ^^)
Travelling through a vehicule (will not be at lunch, but it was prototyped for, maybe, a further release)
Climb on the back of our team to move :) (maybe just like the flying gorup power in CoH which could be declined in a group TP ^^)

Tokyo ESPer several years ago (now) did the "paint splash" effect for teleportation.

All things considered though, I prefer Akatsuki's teleportation effect in Log Horizon.

I think it would make sense from a game balance perspective, that some of the less flexible travel powers will be the hardest to get knocked out of, or put another way, would provide the highest resistence to interruption. So since parkour doesn't have any flying abilities or augmented speed, I would expect it would be the hardest to interrupt. In fact, I would state that it would be 100% uninterruptable. By this I mean there would be no additional susceptibility beyond your base in-combat susceptibility to control effects. Whereas, flying or superspeed would be the easiest to break a character out of, like say 50%. If you get interrupted while flying, it would revert to just a hover, and if you get interrupted from hover you fall. Likewise for super speed if you get interrupted while speeding you revert to a normal run.
Of course I am illustrating this with only binary effects of interrupts, but I think that makes it easier to get the gist of the idea without getting bogged down into the calculus of non-binary control effects.
So while it may not be the most realistic portrayal of travel powers, I think it is a more balanced implementation that would make some of the more limited travel powers seem more attractive, or at least less unattractive that other travel powers.

The original Electro rode (Power Slide) on Power lines and later was able to ride "IN" the power lines
Black Lightning used to ride on waves of Electricity.
Static Shock, as mentioned by Safehouse, rode an electrified disc a-la Mag-Lev.
Raiden (from Mortal Kombat) turned into a lightning bolt and traveled that way.
I'm sure there are many other examples, (there was a demon in Buffy that turned into lightning to move around), all based on our fascination with Electricity and all the cool things we have managed to create with it. Van de Graaf generators anyone? If I get a villain lair, I want one.
Not really electrical, the Atom could shrink down to Electron size and ride the wires.
Good point!!!
Locomotion / movement powers, which are less speedy, like giving a bonus on something (maybe avoid) ....
There could also be "depth" levels of powers, for example:
Flight, Super fly and Hyper fly (between maps)
Teleport, Distant Teleport and Deep Teleport (between maps)
Just ideas ...

Teleportation and aesthetic decoupling -
"It's unpleasantly like being drunk."
"What's so unpleasant about being drunk?"
"You ask a glass of water."
I personally would like a kind of fantastical version of science theory aesthetic to be applied to teleportation.
Instead of instantly appearing in the new location you see a bunch of quick images flash on you screen for a second or two before, as though you were using dimension folds to travel. Probably wouldn't be great for standard point to point teleportation but long range zone teleports it would be cool. The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension gave us this kind of psuedo-science teleportation by going through another dimension (the 8th in fact).
And a similar concept for phase shifting. The entire world gets an odd filter or distorted (and very simple) texture swap/ overlay. As though you were in a new reality or between worlds. Something like the Upside down from Stranger Things.

Huh. Only thought about the ability customization thing (keep on forgetting the official name of what it's called) when referring to attack/support based skills. Making my mind wonder about all of the possible customization for travel powers. Vine grappling hooks, ghost form for super speed, having the ground shoot you up for super jump, SO MANY THINGS FOR TELEPORT! Makes me excited.
Do we actually know what Parkour actually is btw? Is it like Spiderman minus the web swinging? You know, like climbing up buildings and jumping off of them
Unarmed combat best combat. Every media
Yes! This! I used that exact scene to describe how my main character teleported. Would also be cool to be able to ride either on top of or inside power lines or even a "ride the lightning" type animation. Lightning bolt comes down from the sky and hits your character, causing them to "ride" it up and become a lightning bolt zigzagging through the air. But to make it different than just a different flight animation make it so you can't stop mid-air or you'll fall back down. So you have to actually keep moving forward to stay in the air. Maybe make it a little faster than flight, but not as fast as Super Speed.
Would also love seeing more transformation travel powers. Bats/Insect swarm, Smoke, Animals, Shadow, Tidal wave etc etc. And make it so we can still use attacks while transformed. In CO there's a Scarab flight power where you turn into a cloud of scarabs, but the great thing about it is that you can still do melee attacks. And there's no animations so it looks like the scarabs are actually doing the damage. So something like that, but with a chance of taking too much damage or getting CC'd knocks you out of the transformation.
Didn't they explain Nightcrawler's teleportation along these lines once upon a time?
The mental image I have of your flashing images reminds me of the movie version of the Infinite Improbability Drive of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy :)
"I don't think you understand the gravity of your situation."
Yes they used this kind of pseudo science reasoning for Nightcrawler. It's actually been used in a ton of fiction.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperspace_(science_fiction)
But I wasn't really talking about something like the Improbability Drive which changes those traveling along with the rest of reality (there is more to it like the whole aquatic mammal thing).
I was talking about just seeing an alternate reality as you travel. Quick flashes or distorted images of the word around you. This wouldn't be something others see when you activate your teleport but something that would flash on your screen only.
At about 1:30 in the video you get to see a very dated idea of what I mean:

While it's not so much using dimensional folds/wormholes for travel, Doctor Strange has a great sequence which could be easily adapted for my purpose so 'Open your eye' on this clip:

Again, while this clip from Constantine is not really about using alternate dimensions as a means of quicker travel it does show a reality where a city setting is familiar enough to be recognizable but obviously not our reality:

There are a lot of examples in movies and TV you could use like 'Interstellars' wormhole scene, '2001, A Space Odysseys' stargate ending and (speaking of stargates) the movie version of 'Stargates' enter the gate scene.
Like I said, these kinds of images flashing on your screen every time you teleport would probably not be feasible and most likely would end up being annoying for any quick activations of short teleports. But for long range teleports that have longer animation times I think this might be interesting, especially if we have a variety of alternate dimension images we can choose to apply with aesthetic decoupling. Not to mention the distorted 'familiar but not' overlay you could see when phase shifting.
I wonder if the travel powers will be customizable as the attack powers are.
I mean, can we customize our travel power like, for instance, téléoprt in making sparkling the area around us, or leaving a cloud of couloured smoke (like diablo), or even a gosht picture of ourself ? Maybe be superspeed could be customized with trail of fire on the floor or maybe trail of electricity in the air ?
