So, is there plans to be a villain? And I mean really be a villain not just do subpar work as a lackey to becoming a mastermind but going the Grand Theft Auto route. Like being bad to the bone and doing whatever you want. Like killing civilians, taking hostages and then killing the hostages after you got what you want, running from the cops or heck just taking out all the cops because you have super powers. Having the choice to betray your employer, killing a NPC just because you didn't like him. I'm talking about hardcore anarchy villainy. I remember playing Old Republic and you were able to be the scummiest of villains being able to make life changing choices just killing guys that were messing with your gig and not caring if you got a whole squadron coming after you afterwards.

Is there going to be a choice to be a Supervillain?
Yes, you be able to play a villain at launch. The Devs introduced the opening tutorial that allows you to choose hero or villain.
I have heard no mention about killing civilians or taking hostages. In the old COH, there were missions where villains could take hostages.
COH never let villains kill random civilians, and that may be the case here as well.

I still sort of hope they let us be neutral mercs more than forced down hero/vil
Why would anyone want to kill anyone, even NPCs?
CoT is going to be rated accordingly. I don't think it is going to be anything like GTA.

I've heard them say that you can, or atleast be a an anti hero type or an anti villain type.... don't know if it's going to be at launch though...

Why ? because say your character is only knocking enemies out that enemy can get back up at some point and backstab you.
Your characters never hold back their abilities think in games, a max level does tons of damage they clearly would have killed that enemy because the characters that don't want to kill don't have their damage nerfed because they are trying not to kill.
in COH defeated enemies ended up in prison. They were defeated. This will never be GTA.

In CoX it was more up to interpretation, yes you could say that you where killing people and you where this big bad vigilante character, but you could also say that you where just knocking them out and slapping little teleporters on them to teleport them to the prison infirmary, that system worked because you could play a silver age type of hero, or a dark edgy hero in the same game. There's no reason why we can't do that in this game... just let people play what they want to play...

Like people stay dead in comic books? More often they return from the dead more powerful.

Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
With 9000 lives, is it any wonder that I am "The World's Mightiest Moggie"?!

I submit running around ganking civilian NPCs would get boring, fast.
No proper superhero story system allows the bad guys to kill with impunity -- there's always a way to stop it by the hero.
Also, that's a high stress situation more fated to a cable violence show than a game.

The very existence of the taunting tank irritates, for it requires idiotic AI that obeys the taunt.
And here I thought it was over 9000, or have you already used up that many?
