Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

Freedom Force & Aesthetic Decoupling

I think a big problem people are having with understanding "aesthetic decoupling" is that they don't have a frame of reference. I'm not sure how close this will be to what we get in CoT, but Freedom Force has a decoupled aesthetic system that I think can help.

As you can see in the video, the choice of Power Type, Damage (effect), Cost, Knockback or Stun, Distance, Velocity, etc. are on their own page. Think about this page as the baked-in powers and effects for the Power Sets the devs create. Two melee powersets might have similar powers, except one does Crushing Damage with a Knockback (Haymaker) and the other does Fire Damage with a Burn effect (Incinerate).

The effects are only one page though, and the aesthetic portion of the power is on the separate page. Here, you can choose the animation your character plays when you fire off this power, as well as the visual effect the happens all the way from start to impact. Here, you could choose to have the fire attack emanate from your character's head, hand, chest, or shoulder. The fire effect itself could be green, blue, red, or even not fire at all! Maybe your "fire" powers are secretly celestial powers, in which case you might find a golden glow effect instead.

Hopefully this video example helps you all understand how aesthetic decoupling might work in City of Titans. I would love for devs to comment on your system might be similar or different.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Imagine, if two players with the same powers were to work together! They might take on the world with 'projective-love' powers.

Well, how else could they review the animation for accuracy? The looping helped QA get a proper count of the number of femurs ejected. It was obviously a key part of the design specs.

I apologize for bringing an older thread back, but I often thought about this during the CoH days. I would've loved it if my assault rifle blaster could've thrown a grenade instead of launching it from his gun. It always bugged me that this one gun could shoot bullets (everything from shotgun style to sniping), beanbags, fire and grenades.

Even if throughout a character's progression there were a few points where you could choose between animation A or B, or effect A or B, it would make each character feel more unique. Nothing about the balance of the power would need to change.

MWM is aiming for much more than that. They are building a system where you choose the mechanics and looks of power separate from each other, called Aesthetic Decoupling. One of their shown examples was of a person launching fireballs from their feet by doing Capoeira moves. Essentially they want to make the looks of powers to be as customizable as the looks of the character itself.

"There is a limit to the number of props and FX themes a person can use. Necessity due to being online. Too many, and the data becomes too large to share quickly as more people are in an area. At this point, the limit is 2 of each, but if during playtesting we find we can raise that limit, we will."

In fact, it's really good to skim that thread overall to see the tidbits of info we got regarding this. There are limitations in how much you can do with one character.
