Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Discuss: Fall 2018 release date

So - according to the Facebook page banner, CoT is looking at a *tentative* fall 2018 release date. I know the devs have been rather shy about nailing it down (for good reason), so I guess it looks like the internal development milestones are being met consistently enough to take the plunge. This is fantastic news. I'd like to thank everyone involved for their hard work over the last three years, and the work that is yet to come. Sure, there might still be some setbacks on the road ahead but at least that light at the end of the tunnel keeps getting brighter if only a little bit.

Welcome to a Facebook goof.

Welcome to a Facebook goof. It was scheduled for November 30th, to go up with the next update. Somehow, they flipped it on early. We're still scratching our heads over it, but, what is done is done.

I figured as much ha ha. Seemed odd that it just appeared with no accompanying announcement or pomp. Oh well - 5 days off isn't too bad.

Huh, this actually fits

Huh, this actually fits pretty well with my projected timetable. I feel like we should see the character creator beta with the next year, and then the full game beta around 6 months after that, with a full release around another 6 months later.

An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".

Yep. Agreed with Hal and

Yep. Agreed with Hal and Rott.

I'm kind of the "family liaison" when it comes to City of Titans. My wife and son are both "is it done yet? is it done yet?", and I let them know about updates and try to keep their expectations in check. Having watched from almost (missed the Kickstarer, dammit) the beginning, and armed with layman-google-researched game development knowledge (I've watched and read sooooooooooooo much Unreal 4 vs CryEngine/Unity 5 info), I feel like this timeline is... practical. Realistic. And the switch to UE4 was genius and the right move.

It could well go over that timeline, and that wouldn't be exactly surprising, but it's a good, practical educated guess. I just... we all miss a game that allows us to both explore our own creativity within the genre and also interact with a rich universe of Superhero lore.

A Superhero MMORPG version of the PnP DnD at it's best. That's what CoH was and that's what we want.

No small order, and much respect to those making it possible for that to happen again.

FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)

Also, BOOO! That's so far away! *wahwahwah* (I say this only kiddingly (half kiddingly) I know game development takes time, and would rather you take the time you need than rush out a buggy, unfinished, poorly refined product. But I want it nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.) =P

Personally, I'd go with bringing CoT online Nov. 30th, as a nice jab at NCSoft. :P More so is because Nov. 30th, 2018 also falls on a Friday, the exact day City of Heroes was shut down.

You can also say something along the lines of, "It was a sad day for all of us when City of Heroes shut down. But now, EXACTLY 6 years later, a spiritual successor arises from the ashes. A new sun, a new path, a new future! City of Titans is NOW LIVE!".

I'm no writer (obviously), but a writer should easily spin that up a whole hell of a lot better than me. :)

John Barrowman played Captain Jack Harkness on both Doctor Who and its spinoff, Torchwood.

He also played Malcolm Merlyn during Seasons 1-5 of Arrow.

There are lots of vids by and about him on YouTube.

He is quite beloved by folks in the science fiction/genre communities.

With no particular knowledge, I recall that CoH put exactly one release live on a Friday. After they had to drag a load of people in over the weekend to fix it, they never did it again, with good reason.

The whole "don't release new

The whole "don't release new updates to a game on Friday" guideline makes perfect sense for a game that's been running for a while and you're simply updating a currently active game. The main reason for this is as everyone said - it can be hard to make sure the right Devs are available on a relatively typical weekend to cover things if there are problems.

But actually LAUNCHING a new game on a Friday probably wouldn't be a problem for that typical reason because more than likely pretty much ALL the Devs/support people are going to be available during the first few days after a game's launch because, well, why wouldn't they be? After 4 or 5 years of working on a game it's probably fairly safe to say that EVERYBODY that's involved in launching it would be available in those first days if needed. Again why wouldn't they be regardless of the day of the week?

So while I'd agree with the working theory that Fridays usually aren't good for routine updates I would think that almost ANY day of the week would be workable for a launch. Any given Friday should be fine for that if for no other reason more players usually have more time to start playing new games on weekends. *shrugs*

This being said I don't really care if they launch exactly on November 30, 2018 or not. It would be a funny irony if it happens that way, but I don't need to see that unless MWM is coincidentally ready to launch on that very date.

There is a significant difference between 'playing it' and 'testing it'. If you want CoT to be successful and you happen to get in on Beta/Alpha/Whatever testing, I hope people actually put the work into it.
