We are making pot roast in the crock pot with potatoes and carrots, along with my wife's home made potato salad (I just die for that). Dearest daughter is making an apple pie...it's her first time making any pie...
The nice thing about a crock pot is there is only 10 minutes work for for a great meal. With the plastic liner - no clean up.

Arby's Brown Sugar Thick Cut Bacon on Roast Beef.
Home made buffalamb? lambalo? mixed lamb and buffalo burgers on ciabatta topped with sauteed mushrooms and caramelized onions under a thin slice of blue cheese, and then fresh spinach and tomato to finish. Your choice of mayo or spicy mustard--or both! Home made spicy-hot vinegar slaw and store-bought Terra chips on the side. Guinness Irish wheat ale to wash it down, or some of my home-brewed dry & sour hard cider if you prefer.

I had forgotten about the day till one of my customers wished me a 'happy country-birthday'. I got McDonald's on the way home from work as a sort of celebration of my American heritage. Nothing as good as the stuff you folks all describe. Empyrean, you should write for a cooking website! And Brand X, you just reminded me that I miss Arby's almost as much as I miss Taco Bell.

I dunno. McDonald's has a good cheap cheeseburger. When all I want is the simple, McDonald's wins imo. They also have great fries :)
That said, I never grew up on McDonald's. I grew up on Carl's Jr (Closest McDonald's was like 5-10 miles away), so it tends to win the burger competition for me. :)
I never liked their cheeseburgers till I came here to the UK, where they put cheddar on them. Was never a fan of American cheese, I guess. But I definitely agree on the fries!

I remember the first time my wife, who's Canadian, went to a Tim Hortons here in the States. They asked her what kind of cheese would she like, would she like American on her bagel. She turned to me and said, "You guys have your own f#$%ing cheese?" Come to find out, Kraft American Singles are called just Kraft Singles in Canada. #TheMoreYouKnow
I was just feeling all fancy pantsy, but luckily it turned out pretty freakin good. Fast food? I'm a Taco Bell guy like you. Though when I was a kid, Arbys was like the rare fancy fine dining on special occasions when McDonalds just wouldn't cut it.

[Well, that sounded better than the fried bologna on grilled cheese sammiches I had. BTW, I prefer Cheddar rather than American cheese. My all-time faves are Horseradish and Irish Swiss!]

Trying to empty the freezer, since we're moving to Albuquerque this weekend.

Ha! Well, sort of. It's really just a blend of other cheeses plus food colouring. Don't know if that counts.
Arby's (and Popeye's) helped me get through night school. In my college notebooks somewhere there are drawings of what I was planning to order on the way home and even a poem about curly fries.
On our first visit back to the States, when we stopped at an Arby's my Scottish wife said, "Oh I get it: Arby's... R-B's... Roast Beef." Decades spent visiting that establishment and I never figured that one out.

that's what I thought too, but I heard and read that it's the founders last name and them being brother. Raffel Brothers R.B.
Four decades in this country and I never figured that out either. lolwut165iq?

I had the advantage of advertising: America's Roast Beef, Yes Sir!
But Brand X has the real story, IIRC.

Nothing stopping it from being both, I suppose. The Raffel Brothers may have gone meta on us here.

We had a grilled/smoked chicken and baked potatoes. Also some wine that was far more potent than I expected, but good.
I only ever go to McDonald's for breakfast. I usually get Arby's chicken fingers and curly fries of course. For a burger my first choice is Wendy's. I feel like their burgers have more flavor than BK or McD. I hardly go to those places though. I try to pretend to eat healthy. Gotta keep away from those places that use so much di-hydrogen monoxide. /snark

If this keeps up, we'll have to rename Amerikatt, 'Bustopher Jones'.

It's all right. We've replaced the dye packets in the bank bags with string packets. So when the robbers try to get away, Amerikatt will get lots of exercise.
